Google Not Picking Up Posts
-
I am trying to work out why from March 4th Google is not seeing my posts. Our google impressions have dropped from 8,000 to 40. If you put in the full article name with speach marks it does not find it, and instead shows the home page in google.
We have not had any warnings. We did have work done on our site but nothing else i could think of to cause this.
Can anyone let me know what may have caused this. All articles are original

It sounds like you're experiencing a significant drop in Google impressions, and your posts are not being indexed correctly. There could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps and tools that may help you diagnose and resolve the problem:Check for Technical Issues:
Ensure there are no technical issues on your site, such as broken links, incorrect robots.txt settings, or noindex tags that might prevent Google from crawling your content.
Verify your sitemap is up to date and submitted to Google Search Console.
Review Recent Changes:Since you mentioned recent work done on your site, double-check those changes. Sometimes, even minor adjustments can inadvertently affect how Google indexes your site.
Content Quality and Duplication:Ensure all your articles are unique and not duplicated across different URLs. Even though you mentioned all articles are original, sometimes technical issues can cause duplicate content.
Google Search Console:Use Google Search Console to check for any crawl errors or indexing issues. It can provide insights into why your pages might not be appearing in search results.
Pinging and Indexing Tools:Utilize tools designed to ping and help with the indexing process if Google is dropping the indexings. Here are a few tools you can try:
IndexKings: This tool helps in bulk pinging your URLs to search engines.
PingFarm: Another bulk pinging service to notify search engines about your new or updated content.
Ping-O-Matic: This tool helps to ping multiple search engines and services at once.
PanopticPen Pinger: A useful tool for pinging URLs to various search engines to enhance the chances of indexing.
Check for Manual Actions:Even if you haven't received any warnings, it's worth checking the Manual Actions report in Google Search Console to ensure there are no manual penalties affecting your site.
Monitor Site Performance:Use tools like Google Analytics to monitor your site’s traffic and see if there are any patterns or specific issues that coincide with the drop in impressions.
By following these steps and utilizing the mentioned tools, you should be able to diagnose the root cause of the issue and take corrective actions to improve your site’s visibility in Google search results. If the problem persists, consider consulting with an SEO professional for a more in-depth analysis. -

Have you tried manually submitting via Google Search Console to get each page indexed?
-
According to my knowledge, these are some reasons why Google was not picking up your post.
- There could be problems with the website's robots.txt file blocking Google's crawlers, or broken links causing indexing difficulties.
- The site work might have unintentionally affected SEO by changing how content is structured or presented.
To diagnose the problem further, the user can:
- Use Google Search Console to check for crawl errors or indexing issues.
- Review the robots.txt file and ensure Google can crawl the relevant pages.
- Verify if the sitemap is up-to-date and submitted to Google Search Console.
-
@dvdegfre thank you for this. I have a robot file but not sure if it is correct or not. I cannot find examples of what the robot file should look like.
I have checked for manual actions but nothing there. It is very strange that i have a few thousands pages and they do not appear in google. my impressions i have dropped by more than 98%

My posts have vanished from Serps What Should I do
I was using the Yoast plugin and for more than ten years and my keywords were always in the top twenty with many in the top five. I then moved over to rank math plugin and things were fine. Then i saw all my posts and pages go our of serps with not a single page in seps. I looked at the plugin and saw that it was still working fine but my subscription ran out two months previous. none of my brand news articles appear in serps. All my posts are indexed but not one of them in serps and not one of my keywords are ranked. Can anyone please let me know what to do to solve this

Only my homepage ranks for my keywords, should I delete my other pages?
I am an independent artist and all of my business inquiries come through my website (www.ChrisCarlsonArt.com). Over the last 6 months I have been trying to get pages other than my homepage to rank for my keywords, but I haven't made any progress. I worry that I am cannibalizing my keywords since my pages all have similar information. Should I just delete my other pages and focus on ranking my homepage? Also, if I delete my other pages will that have a negative impact on my rankings?

Migrating Subfolder content to New domain Safely
Hello everyone, I'm currently facing a challenging situation and would greatly appreciate your expertise and guidance. I own a website, maniflexa.com, primarily focused on the digital agency niche. About 3 months ago, I created a subfolder, maniflexa.com/emploi/, dedicated to job listings which is a completely different niche. The subfolder has around 120 posts and pages. Unfortunately, since I created the subfolder, the rankings of my main site have been negatively impacted. I was previously ranking #1 for all local digital services keywords, but now, only 2 out of 16 keywords have maintained their positions. Other pages have dropped to positions 30 and beyond. I'm considering a solution and would like your advice: I'm planning to purchase a new domain and migrate the content from maniflexa.com/emploi/ to newdomain.com. However, I want to ensure a smooth migration without affecting the main domain maniflexa.com rankings and losing backlinks from maniflexa.com/emploi/ pages. Is moving the subfolder content to a new domain a viable solution? And how can I effectively redirect all pages from the subfolder to the new domain while preserving page ranks and backlinks?

I wish they did, but GSC doesn't offer a solution to migration content from subfolder to a new domain. 😢 Help a fellow Mozer. Thanks for giving a hand.0 -

Google dropping pages from SERPS
The website for my London based plumbing company has thousands of specifically tailored pages for the various services we provide to all the areas in London. It equates to approximately 6000 pages in total. When google has all these pages indexed, we tend to get a fair bit of traffic - as they cater pretty well for long tail searches. However, every once in a while Google will drop the vast majority of our indexed pages from SERPs for a few days or weeks at a time - for example at the moment Google is only indexing 613 whereas last week it was back at the normal ~6000. Why does this happen? We of course lose a lot of organic traffic when these pages don't displayed - what are we doing wrong? Website: www.pgs-plumbers.co.uk
