Anchor Text for Internal Links

With the updates of Googles algorithm, it has been pointed many times, that over-optimization of anchor text is not good. As I understand, always the same anchor text (e.g. "Marketing Agency in Seattle") draws suspicion.
Now what to do with internal link building? Is there any (recent) best practice on using anchor text for internal links?
So far I am using always the same keyword(s) for internal links, I want the other page to rank for. Is that still a good method?

You don't need to worry too much about internal linking keyword over optimization. You are not trying to manipulate search engines here, its considered as natural linking. Also, as far you are not over optimized with keyword on your page you are not gonna add special text with keyword for internal linking, you gonna use the same keyword(present in your content) as internal link so it won't be considered over optimized.

Hi Robin,
For internal linking, you want to explain the page that the link is taking you to. This is still the current way to handle internal links.
Try not to think of the link as an opportunity to rank that page for the desired keywords / phrase. The link should be a short and snappy description of the linked page, but do move away from just using "money keywords".

Good morning! I have a quick question about international keyword research. So, I created a keyword list full of terms that we want to analyze in Latin America. My question is around search results. For example, if the keyword I am analyzing in English is "apples" and I choose the region as Mexico, should I submit the keyword to be analyzed as "apples" or the Spanish translation "manzanas"? I am confused as to whether the results account for the translation of someone searching "manzanas" in Mexico to the English term "apples" and how that whole process works. I have a main site for real estate that works fairly well. There's city pages within the site. I have been able to get the specific citynamehomesforsale.com domain and now I'm back to the old question of whether to build out a high traffic niche site to capitalize on the exact keyword match or should I just link it to the directory (domain.com/city) Thanks!

Live Search tool for text on websites
Hi everyone, Does anyone know of an online scanner / search tool that will do a live check for the occurance or a word or phrase on a website? I know you can use Google's site:domainname.com <word phrase="">but that is only checking what Google has in its current index for that site. I am looking for a tool that will do a live scan and search (i.e. as at the time) and then return a list of occurances it has found for the word or phrase.</word> Thanks in advance for this. Peter

International Keyword Ranking
I want measure my ranking for keywords in various countries and search engines. If I use a tool such as rank checker to determine my rank for google.uk, google.au.com, etc... is that accurate, or does my IP still affect the rankings I see? If I use a VPS such as Hide My Ass (or another product you would recommend), would that make my ranking results more accurate? I also want to measure my ranking in Russia, where Yandex is very strong so a tool to measure my Yandex ranking + Google would be ideal. What method you would recommend to accurately determine my rankings in different countries? Thank you!
