A friend has a question about buying and using a domain
-
My friend is starting a yoga site and needed advice about how to use the domains.
BikramYogaSantaClarita.com and BikramSCV.com are the 2 domains.
The DBA is Bikram Yoga Santa Clarita. This was her message to me:
The person I spoke with at GoDaddy suggested using the DBA name as the website and on advertising and the shorter one for email addresses, as it’s easier to say and write down, and also have the shorter one point to the longer DBA one. What do you think?
What are your thoughts?

There are a lot of factors to this. It falls into the famous "it depends" seo answer
1. Do you want the email address to appear more professional? If not, then just get a gmail address that is easier to manage and troubleshoot that a server controlled email. I'm sure you could find something like [email protected] available.
2. Do people (and Google) associate the abbreviation "SCV" with the local area? Doing a few searches in Google should let you know this very quickly. If so, then use the shorter domain. If not, then the longer domain since it includes the "yoga" and "santa clarita" keywords. You could at this point use the other domain for email, if the professional appearance is important to you. I did a few searches in Google for you, and it appears that they do not put the two together, and it shows different results for each phrase. BUT, that does not mean that users don't associate them together. Try and think of how your site will be searched for, and make your domain choice accordingly.
You could also spend a few moments looking up other domains, just to see what is catchy, and available.

Thank you! I'll pass it along.

Hi
It's true that there is nothing really wrong with it and that it will be hard to remember but she can always use other emails and forward to another email address.
I think using another domain is somewhat of a waste if it's "just" for email.
If she has the time, then she can use that extra domain as a separate lead generator, maybe as a blog/landing page (and can also be used for links to the main site) - At least it's not just for emails.
If you meant to ask about which domain to use primarily, nowadays, keyword domains like BikramYogaSantaClarita.com are usually "frowned" upon due to one of Google's recent updates so they normally recommend using the brand name... but it actually still works great.
Slap on some good content, send it some good links and it'll rank easily.

Question About Replying to Yelp Reviews and SEO
Hi guys, I was wondering if responding to negative yelp reviews would in turn boost yelps seo ranking for my business name. I'm trying to direct attention away from yelp being that we've had little success having real clients get through the review filter. We unfortunately have nasty competition that seems to be leaving fake negative reviews incessantly.

Inputting Schema for Website When Using a Markup Generator
Hi Guys, I think this may be fairly straightforward but couldn't find an answer online. I wish to input Schema on a website and have generated the JSON-LD markups for a local business. 1. Do I just add this into the header and if so should it be at the start or end? 2. Do I just add to the homepage? 3. If I have multiple markups (Local Business, Website, etc.) do I put them all in one header Thanks! Jack

I have a question regarding what package I should get
I work at an agency, we have a client that has 20 locations (all different websites and google business listings). We are trying to pick the best and easiest package for each location. We are trying to improve their SEO and ranking and their Google My Business pages. Can you explain the packages that you have to offer and which package you think would be the best fit.

Is it ok to use a mobile phone number for business listings?
Hi all

I know the use of 0800 numbers and toll-free numbers are a big No when it comes to NAP but what about mobile phone numbers?
Will google penalise the use of a mobile over the use of a land line? Thanks0 -
A question for a real citation building PRO (I am totally lost on this one) Thank you for ANY help!
Quick Q for your (local) SEO gurus. I have a client who has bought a number of local companies. (advertising, printing, graphic design, vehicle wraps) to compliment his screen printing, embroidery, etc business. ALL of these companies run out of the SAME address. What makes it even harder is he wants to continue operating them as separate companies. Fortunately, he is OK with using different phone numbers for each business but on the website (we are building for him) ALL the companies are represented like it is all one big happy company. How the H@#$ do I build citations for this business! 🙂 ??? THANK YOU FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS!! If I use the one 'parent' company building citations is a challenge bcs they do so MANY things in one location. If I try and build citations for 5 companies w the same address - that can't be a good idea either. If the plan is to eventually fold all these companies into the one parent company *(waiting to hear back on that) I would think the BEST advice would be to use the ONE phone number and address and just shoot for a general 'marketing' category. Why would a domain rank well in some markets and poorly in others?
We are having an issue with our SERP results. Basically here is what’s happening. We offer training in 47 cities. Our main sales page is [http://example.com/product/city-name]. Whenever we change our location preferences in Google, and that URL format is the landing page for our main 3 keywords, we rank no worse than 15. Most of those are on the first page. However, if that is not the landing page in the SERPs, we rank poorly. Depending on which keyword is used, one of three URLs will ALWAYS appear instead of the desired city-specific landing page, and we rank somewhere between pages 6 and 9. The other landing pages, depending on which keyword is used, are http://example.com (home page), http://example.com/product (without the city), or http://example.com/product/san-francisco (regardless of how close this is). Out of the 141 keywords, there have been between 9-25 keywords that have this issue. Having all 3 of these keywords in the top 10 for each city is the number one priority from our CEO. We have noticed if a page starts moving down the ranks, once it goes past 15, the landing page changes. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this, or how to fix it? Any insight into this is much appreciated!

Show Address or Not, this is the question
Our physical address is not manned because we primarily go to the customer site either electronically or in person. So technically, we are not supposed to check the box in Google+ " I also serve customers at my business address." Having the box unchecked hides the address on the Google+ page leaving just City and State. Now that we have submitted our location in Moz Local, we see this causes an inconsistent listing issue. The address shows in other listings but not in Google+. On one hand, we do not want people showing up to our location expecting to find us there when we are not. On the other hand, we want our listings to be consistent so that customers can see that we are local and can deliver our services in person when necessary. So what should we do about this? p8A6ZW5 ReWtbOa
