Google Analytics goals by source report?
-
Hello everybody.
Is there way in Google analytics to create report on what goals have been completed per each source?
Example:
Lets say I have 3 goals: Subscription, Purchase, Quote.
How can I get report, saying something like this:
google / organic - Subscription - 5 conversions
Purchase - 3 conversions
Quote - 10 conversionsand so on.
P.S. Basically, I want the reverse of standard Google Analytics goal completions report, where you can click on goal and see which sources/mediums completions came from. I'd like to do the opposite - "click" on source/medium and see which goals have been completed.
Thanks

again, per Garfield's answer, you're trying to map things that can't be mapped because they likely do not share a primary key. but if I am wrong on this, I'd like to know because it would open some other options for reporting.

Anybody knows if what i'm asking is possible to do with GA API?
-
Thanks for reply.
Yeah, that's the way I'm going to do if can't find any better solution.

I think the issue is you're expecting to be able to drill down from source/medium (dimension) into different goal completions, which are metrics, not dimensions. You can only drill down from dimension to dimension. https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1033861?hl=en
The closest solution to your problem would have to come from a custom report, where you have each conversion as its own metric column paired with source/medium as your primary dimension. http://imgur.com/Dzwvaec
Once you have a custom report, you can basically just share a template link and it should be relatively easy to move it from client to client at that point. Mildly tedious but better than building dashboards imo.

I thought of this way - but figured there should be easier (less bulkier) way to do this. Well, I guess if nobody else has any suggestions, I'll do that.
-
Yep, that makes sense.
In that case I would create a dashboard to show a report of goal completion by source for all of the goals the site has.
Go to dashboards > new dashboard - and then add a new widget.
Select the table option. For your "Display the following columns:" select:
Source/Medium for the dimension
For the first metric, type in "goal" in the search bar, it will then list all of the GA goals in the account and the different options you can show. For the first metric column I like to use "Goal X Completions". And for the second column I like to use "Goal X Conversion Rate"
Save the widget and you should now see each goals conversions and conversion rate by source/medium (you can change that to just source or medium if you prefer).
Duplicate the widget and change the goal metrics to each goal that you'd like to track.
At the end you should have a dashboard that shows you all of the goals by channel in one view and click. A bit of work to set up, but definitely the quickest way to check back in later.
Hope that helps.

Hi. Thanks for reply.
No, it's not. The problem is that i have 20+ clients, each of them have 3-5 goals, so, I would like to send them a report of goals by source. Also, for our own website we have 18 goals - switching the way you suggest (and that's the way I am doing) is very time consuming and somewhat difficult to see the whole picture.
Hope this makes sense.

Hi Dmitrii
Would the standard Acquisition > All Traffic > Channels report in GA be able to satisfy your request?
If you go to that view, the last three columns look at goal completions:

You can filter this column by all goals or individual goals.
That way you can compare goal conversions by channel quite quickly, but also if you click into the channel itself, you can select the goal in that drop-down menu to get the number of conversions.
You'd also be able to set this up in a dashboard.
Would that do the trick?

Tracking time spent on a section of a website in Google Analytics
Hi, I've been asked by a client to track time spent or number of pages visited on a specific section of their website using Google Analytics but can't see how to do this. For example, they have a "golf" section within their site and want to measure how many people either visit 5 page or more within the golf section or spend at least 6 minutes browsing the various golf section pages. Can anyone advise how if this can be done, and if so, how I go about it. Thanks

Google Analytics Goal Tracking Not Working
I am trying to install goal tracking for a client to measure leads from SEO, and I'm running into problems with the Google Analytics goal tracking not working. The only thing that I can think of that is preventing goal tracking from working is that the URL confirming page request URI looks like "contact/#contact-form-4475" and perhaps the hashtag is causing problems. I wanted to ask the community if any of you have run into basic conversion tracking problems like this, where you need to track form fills on a website via a confirmation URL/destination URL goal, and what you did to solve it? I appreciate any input on how to get data on conversions either by fixing the goal in GA or using a different tracking tool. Thanks!

Google Analytic - Is it possible to see which organic keyword triggered goals?
Hi, I am trying to see which of my Google organic keywords triggered my goals? In GA I click > Conversion > Goals > Overview > Source Medium (This then says where my goals came from but when I click Google / Organic it just brings me to the overview page of my organic traffic). Is it possible to see which organic keywords trigger goals?

Cross domain tracking setup in Google Analytics
I really need help on this, I can't figure it out. I need to track a few subdomains and and couple of seperate domains in one profile in Google Analytics. So I have: www.maindomain.co.uk sub1.maindomain.co.uk sub2.maindomain.co.uk www.anotherdomain.co.uk So the code I have placed on all of these domains is as following: I have then set up seperate profiles which filter out the data by domain. E.g. for sub1.maindomain.co.uk, I have user the fitler: Custom filter > Include > Filter Field = Hostname > Filter Pattern = sub1.maindomain.co.uk For the www.anotherdomain.co.uk, I have used the same filter. Now this all seems to be tracking visits and unique visitors okay, but I always have a very low pageview count, less than visits and sometimes zero. Could anyone shed any light on what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance mozzers.

Google Analytics session update question
Hello, With reference to seomoz blog post - http://www.seomoz.org/blog/panda-24-and-analytics-session-update-rolled-out-simultaneously#jtc151292 , i would like clarification about the following - User searches Google for "Product Name" and clicks on your AdWords advertisement. User leaves site and searches a few more times, click on competition and comparing prices and features. User ultimately decides to with your product, Googles "Your Brand + Product Name", clicks your organic listing, and buys the product. This whole process takes less than 30 minutes. "Your Brand + Product Name" will appear in your organic keyword report with 1 visit. My question is whether "Product Name" will also appear in organic keyword report with 1 visit if the visitor is not signed in. ( as search won't be encrypted ) Thanks

Conflicting Analytics: Getclicky vs. Google Analytics
Removal of an old getclicky code (and installation of new tracking code) from my site after some changes resolved inaccuracies in my page view/bounce rate information. Prior to adding the correct getclicky code, getclicky was showing 95% plus bounce rate on my site. I knew this was wrong because GA showed around 40%. Ironically, now that my getclicky account is working (showing a 30% bounce rate), GA bounce rate is steadily climbing. Is it best to just stick with one analytics account so that the codes don't conflict? Is it possible to have two accurate analytics accounts at the same time?
