Drop in rankings following a migration
-
Hi
we have recently migrated our website and while I expected some drop in visibility I didnt expect a huge drop and definitely not a big drop in MozRank and MozTrust. But we went from 4.34 to 3.69 on Domain Rank and 4.42 to 3.85 in MozTrust. That to me looks like a lot. Particularly since I have been building links and it should be going up not down. We dont buy links and really dont employ any black hat link building.
Now at the same time our total link profile looks massive. Apparently we have 18k of links. there is no way this is correct. Our competitors all have below 5k. The total links have grown from 13k to 18k in a month as well. Where is this coming from? Is there any way of seeing what these links are?
Our visibility went up actually after the launch. Main keyword campaign went from 1.59% to 6.13% then to 7.53% at first. Which made sense since the new site has much better on page optimisation. But now this dropped again to 2.37%. Our competitors visibility is much more stable then that.
I know some fluctuations is normal but these fluctuations seem a bit drastic. Are they?
We still have a few 404s to sort out and quite a bit of re-directs on the page. But other then having impact on speed this should not influence the rankings so severely. Should it?
Before we migrated the site I followed the instruction given by Moz https://mza.bundledseo.com/blog/web-site-migration-guide-tips-for-seos and yet there are all these issues that are popping up. It's disappointing that I made all this effort prior to migrating plus made sure our new page is much better in terms of SEO (I mean I even developed a pagination strategy to get rid of the duplicates!) and it doesnt seem like its paying of.
Any help is much appreciated. Id say my SEO understanding is mid range but Im really interested in it and keen on building my skills. And this is really discouraging if Im honest. Please help

I just found the ticket where we were working together on this, so no need to write in again. I'll just respond to you there.

If you write in to us at [email protected] and ask for me, I can take your questions that way. It's much easier to work through our customer support system than through the Q&A forum, so that's the best way to go!
Thanks, Emina!

Hi Tawny
Thank. That would be amazing! I spoke to the help desk. Including you. To be fair you were really helpful. I'm going to try and see my links toda through Explorer. It would mean a lot though if you could take a look at our campaign. Is there a way of contacting you directly since I always get someone else and not everyone is helpful. Or can I just ask for you specifically through help?
Im really a bit stuck here. I had my revs look at it and they're confused as well.
Thanks
Emina

Hey there! Tawny from Moz's Help team here.
Oh boy! There's a lot of specifics in this question! It will be way easier and much quicker to get to the bottom of this issue if we can take a look at the same things you're seeing, like the specific Moz Pro Campaign(s) where you're seeing these fluctuations.
That's pretty tough to do in the Q&A forum, so if you wouldn't mind, please write in to us at [email protected] with all your questions and we'll do everything in our power to answer them for ya.
Thanks!

What steps should I follow after submitting disavow link list?

Recently there was an update from your side and that was pretty good. I have analyzed model factors regarding Moz 2.0. Though my DA score has been down to 36 from 52, I would still say that an update was really necessary. I have some questions which require some clarification or you can say a proper solution.
As of now, I have removed all the Spam links which were coming to my website (https://edugorilla.com) and I have submitted the disavow list to GSC but I would like to know how should I begin my link building strategy keep everything in mind. And now that, I have removed those spam links how would Moz or how should I tell Moz or Google that those have been removed so how soon can I get back to my previous DA score? I am very much confused with the link building strategy now. What steps should I follow after submitting a disavow list and would Moz stats will change after Google Disavowing those links? Can anyone answer my question?1 -

Drop in DA across multiple sites
Hi I monitor and track few Top sites that are Industry leaders. I got -1 to -3 in DA across this month. Has anyone else experienced this and the matter of fact is there has been rare or no change in the sites but the moz backlink data experienced a major drop "more then 100K backlinks were dropped for them in yesterday's report as compared to a 20 day old report". Has anyone at Moz or anyone in the community experienced the same

Which trumps: spam ranking or domain authority?
I am trying to manage my backlinks by removing ones with high spam links, but I am having trouble drawling the line between helpful/harmful links. One link, for instance, has a span ranking of 7 indicating a 30% chance of penalization from Google crawlers. This same link, however, also boasts a domain authority of 67 which indicates it is also potentially helpful to my own Google crawler success. My question is, which of these scores (spam rank and domain authority) trumps the other? Should I try to get the site owner to remove it? Am I even thinking about this issue correctly? If so, how would you suggest I draw the line in the future? Ben

Domain Authority dropped by 9!
Hello Mozzers, I have logged onto MOZ this morning to see that my domain authority has slipped (seemingly overnight) from 61 to 52! The competitors i track have also slipped but not as dramatically as me and my domain. Is this an expected change in the algorithm? Have all industries been affected? Any help / explanation would be very much appreciated. Ben
