Casey,
Thanks for explaining it in detail. I am going to place an order.
Please notify me when the 2010 conference and 2011 conference video is available.
Thanks

David,
Volume 1 of the set is from 2008, Volume 2 is from 2009. As for what sessions are out of date, I'm not exactly sure as it's been about 8 months since I've personally watched them. Many of the sessions are on advanced theories and actions which makes them not go out of date. I know some of the PPC sessions are out of date since many of the tools have changed.
We do have the videos from our 2010 conference and we are not sure what we will be doing with those yet. They will either be placed on the website for streaming with purchase or go out with our 2011 conference which will be in July, stay turned for that.

Thank Casey, Roger, Aaron for the reply!
I think that SEOmoz put together the training on the DVD, so I can watch them all in one place instead looking around the web and SEOmoz site to find them, it will not only save me lot of time, but also it can prevent me from missing some important training. That is very good.
Thanks Roger and Aaron to point out the "date-ish" side of DVD, previously I only thought about the overlap with the book "art of seo". now I realize this "date-ish" is not avoidable, because it is in a rapid changing industry.
I have the following questions to Casey and other Seomoz::
1. when were these DVD produced?
2. Can you list the session(concept) which are outdated? I think this is most important, so we can avoid the learn-unlearn process. In my personal opinion, if 90% of the content is not out-dated, it is worth to buy. But it is very important to point out which sessions are out-dated.
3. Are you working on the new version of the DVD? if I bought the existing one, can I get some discount on the new one?
If anyone else has purchased these, please provide your feedback, I'd love to have a second opinion.
Thanks

Hi Guys,
I've read both the Art Of SEO and watched both series and I would that there is some overlap but the stuff in the DVDs is more advanced than what you find in the book. Some of the sessions on the DVD are outdated but many of them still have actionable items in them that you can benefit from. Plus about 2 weeks ago we lowered the price so it's worth the pickup in my mind. You can see the back cover below in my links:

Good question!! I have looked at that before and second Aaron's concern.
Has anyone else purchased these? I'd love to hear your feedback?
SEOmoz, are these still up to date-ish?
-
I was considering giving them a shot as well... I am a bit hesitant to invest in a static resource when SEOmoz has such a great, constantly evolving "database" of knowledge right on the site. The problem with SEO books and videos is they are time sensitive in a very fluid industry. I'll probably still give them a go (because I love SEOmoz) but I think staying up to date with all of the content on here is a sufficient way to stay informed. Hope this helps!

Product Videos and SEO
We sell high end products and we try to educate the consumer as much as possible. Since the attention span is short, we try and break up the features/functions into 5-6 videos. We post everything to Youtube and we have been adding it to our blog as well. I am currently tasked with rebuilding our blog from the ground up. This means getting rid of all the thin content, updating content, etc. We have many videos up there and Just trying to figure out what the best practice should be. The blog is wordpress based and I have the videos now set up in a category structure. Should I just add each video as a video custom post type? Should I have each video posted with a transcript? Or should I post each video with sub background text of the video? We have about 120 videos in all and adding more, but making them longer to reduce the amount of videos per product going forward. Thank you.

Confusion About Local SEO
Hi, I hope someone might be able to help me out with this. I am somewhat confused. Basically I have a site that has 2 operating bases in 2 neighboring counties. Say Hampshire and West Sussex. Now I understand the need for schema markup. However, where exactly to put this markup I cant see a definitive answer. even on the official googleblog they seem to shy away from answering this. For the moment I have placed it on the contact us page and obviously there are 2 sets of schema markups for the 2 addresses. Now, the bit I am confused about is that I was reading the Koozai Local SEO white paper and they mention to have the addresses in the footer. This is fine and I can do that, especially as there are a lot of sub pages on the site for different products which we would like to try and rank for. Now, this is the bit I am slightly confused on, should the addresses in the footer be the schema markups? I suspect not but I would like to be sure. Many Thanks

Hello all: What is the key to making high ranking videos? Putting your domain name in the title with the keyword?

For Local SEO on a business with many locations, should the city be included in the business name?
For a franchised business with ~50 locations spread across the US, should the city be included in the business name when building citations? Fictional example: We have a staffing franchise called 'Hamilton Staffing'. They have 50 locations in the US. They are all called 'Hamilton Staffing'. We need to finalize the correct NAP information so we are consistent in building citations. For the name, should we just use 'Hamilton Staffing' for all of them? Or should we use 'Hamilton Staffing - Chicago' and the like for other locations? It looks like InfoUSA and Axciom are just using 'Hamilton Staffing', whereas Google is using 'Hamilton Staffing Chicago' and the like. Thoughts on this?

Is creating great content not important for Local seo?
I'm helping a friend out with Local SEO/Google Places and his content is lacking - no blog, no articles, etc. I've read the major "How To" guides for Local seo by Andrew Shotland and David Mihm and their ranking factors but I never see anything about content or linkbuilding (aside from directories).

What's the best way to host video for SEO purposes?
Hello SEOmoz folks, I'm curious as to whether it will be more beneficial for a website to host a video on the site itself or to host it on YouTube and then embed the code on your site. The options so far, as it seems, are: 1.) Host the video on YouTube or Vimeo or wherever else, then embed the YouTube code into your own website's HTML. 2.) Host the video on your own website by itself. 3.) Host the video on your own website AND YouTube AND Vimeo. I'm wondering which option is best. And if hosting your video on your own website is a good way to go, whether to go that route solely or in addition to hosting on YouTube, what is the best way to go about that? Do I have to embed a player AND the video info into the HTML of my website? What player is best for this? Flash, or something else? And once I get the video on my site one way or the other, how do I write the code to make sure the video thumbnail shows up next to my search results in Google to maximize the SEO potential for the video clip? Sorry for the long question, but I've been searching everywhere for this and I'd love just a direct answer on it. Thanks for your help! Cheers, Dani

Local Seo Help!
Hi everyone, Google Places is going to be the death of me. I have asked a few questions on this topic before but nothing seems to work. Here are some of my problems/concerns: It keeps deleting my description!? Have you seen this before? The "more about this place" section has not been updated since I claimed the listing over 3 months ago. The website it lists at the top of that section is our old website address which no longer works. The site was through a site builder and the company will not forward the domain to the new site. Are there any companies or services that can help build a great profile and help increase my rankings? I am starting to think this is over my head. Do I delete the page and start over? Any advice? Please!
