Tracking a Crawl error
-
Hi All,
If you find a crawl error on your page. How do you find it?
The error only says the URL that is wrong but this is not the location. Can i drill down and find out more information?
Thank you!

Hi Martin,
Thanks for coming back to me.
You are spot on... I think I have been sitting at the desk to long today. Zoned out!
Yep, webtools in google shows the URL in full so I can find it now.
Thanks for your help

Hi Wayne, Just to clarify you are having issues with a crawl error in Webmaster tools, and when you click the url it works fine? You can use tools such as Google Webmaster tools > Fetch as Google bot and input the url to see how Google Bot see's it in HTML. You can also download a text based browser such as Lynx to view your website very similar to how Google bot see's it. It will be very hard to determine a Crawl Path, as if that information was available we could develop trends and get a little closer to their algorithm. Crawler trackers can, on occasion cause hinderence to the crawler.Hope this helps.

Sitemap error in Webmaster tools - 409 error (conflict)
Hey guys, I'm getting this weird error when I submit my sitemap to Google. It says I'm getting a 409 error in my post-sitemap.xml file (https://cleargear.com/post-sitemap.xml). But when I check it, it looks totally fine. I am using YoastSEO to generate the sitemap.xml file. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a big deal? If so, Does anyone know how to fix? Thanks EwTswL4

Are W3C Validators too strict? Do errors create SEO problems?
I ran a HTML markup validation tool (http://validator.w3.org) on a website. There were 140+ errors and 40+ warnings. IT says "W3C Validators are overly strict and would deny many modern constructs that browsers and search engines understand." What a browser can understand and display to visitors is one thing, but what search engines can read has everything to do with the code. I ask this: If the search engine crawler is reading thru the code and comes upon an error like this: …ext/javascript" src="javaScript/mainNavMenuTime-ios.js"> </script>');}

The element named above was found in a context where it is not allowed. This could mean that you have incorrectly nested elements -- such as a "style" element

One common cause for this error is the use of XHTML syntax in HTML documents. Due to HTML's rules of implicitly closed elements, this error can create
