What factors does the Keyword Difficulty Tool measure?
-
Hi Guys
I am new to this community and finding loads of informative stuff here. The keyword difficulty tool looks very interesting. I think google keyword tool competetion field is based on PPC competetion? Will i be right in saying that the moz keyword difficulty tool measures top 10 ranking pages, their age, backlinks etc?
-
I think Anthony's response was perfect, but I just wanted to add that I think that ranking with a DR of <40 is very doable. It's a great tool for relative difficulty.
-
I would certainly say it's achievable. Whether the score is 40 or 70, you're going to need to have a well-optimized website and execute a strong linkbuilding campaign, but the keyword difficulty score can be a good measure of the relative difficulty of any given keyword to another.
-
So taking a simplistic view, would you guys say an overall Difficulty rank of < 40 is rankable?

SEOmoz pulls its traffic data from the Google AdWords API, but as you rightly suspected, the rest of the data on the page includes the top 10 ranking websites and their link data. Page Authority and Domain Authority are scores that SEOmoz gives webpages/sites based on their own internal algorithm. These scores are based off of link data and other factors - they are discussed in depth here.

Google Webmaster Tools During GA Transition?
I'm working with a client that is launching a new website. Google Webmaster Tools can just be disconnected, then reconnected to the new Google Analytics property, correct? Without any data loss in Webmaster Tools? Thanks! Becky

SEO Working GREAT! Although Keyword Rankings Only Directing to Home Page.
Since I've become a fellow MOZer I've seen an increase on my sites and proud to say that ALL of my clients have now accomplished 1st page rankings on at least 2 of their top 3 keywords. Yes, I am as stoked as them. Although I am a bit worried because as I rank keywords and test them on Google and engines alike all of our rankings direct to the homepage. I am essentially new to SEO. So as happy as I am to be doing something right I'm worried I'm losing the end user. By having them need to Search our site/menus/blog for the keywords/phrase that got them to us will turn most searchers away. They want the content now. What am I doing wrong? My pages are pretty specific so I never cared to use rel-canonical's...I dont have duplicate content, other than your typical footer/side bar consistent info. So I'm curious where I've gone wrong. Little history on my sites: I Use Joomla 2.5 & 3.x. I manage seo details through sh404seo. I've cleaned all duplicates I can up other than what these dynamic cms generate by just using one. I've done fairly well and all my pages rank A for moz's onpage grader for the keyword optimized around. Any help is appreciate, THANK YOU!

Where does the organic keyword information come from in Google Analytics?
I know that Google switch to all encrypted search, but I still show some keywords. Are those keywords that slipped through? Or are they all from Yahoo/Bing?

Webmaster Tools Records
Hey, I'm trying to find a way of getting data from Googles Webmaster Tools and recording it in either a database or spread sheet. Is there any software out there that I can use to do this or would i have to look at developing it my self? Thanks, Luke.

Where to find "Keywords that Sent Organic Search Visits" in Google Analytics?
Hi everyone, Tried searching for this answer but couldn't find it. In the new analytics, I can see that there is a graph that shows the number of unique keywords that brought traffic to our site sorted by weeks. I can't seem to find this data in Google Analytics. I can only find the number of visits but not sorted by how many keywords, instead it is just # of visits from all of the keywords. Thanks in advance. SZ

Google analytics vs Webmaster tools data
Hi Which is more accurate WT or GA data ? Since GA reporting a KW (thats very recently fallen from page 1 to 3 hence looking into data to find the cause) in the Organic part of Search tab as having generated just 1 visitor over a month (hence presuming fall could be due to low visits from a page 1 result) whilst under Search Engine Optimisation tab (data sourced from WT i think) its reporting 5 click thrus from 150 impressions over same period resulting in a quite good 3.33% CTR (hence wouldn't expect to be the cause of a fall) and what i would have thought GA would report as 5 visits instead of the 1 they do report !? The reason im looking for answer in the data is because no on-page has changed and still scoring a grade A and off page metrics have all improved across the board (apart from small drop in majseo's Trust Flow) such as increased links, RD, Citation Flow, Ref Subnets etc etc etc Cheers Dan

Indexed URLs in Webmaster Tools
Hi everybody! I've been looking at my Webmaster Tools stats, and it looks like not all the URLs in the sitemap tree have been indexed, according to WMT at least. Is this reliable, and if so, is it worth investigating further? | Sitemap | Status | Type | Downloaded | URLs submitted | URLs in web index |

Local Non Brand Keywords Tanking!
We have been playing catch up and noticed that in between March and April, one of our sites has seen a drastic decrease in traffic for "city + keyword". All of the other keywords are doing very well. The site has a page for each location. The traffic for these pages dropped by 33% between March and April. And page 1 rankings dropped by 30% as well. No drastic updates were made during this time. The traffic and rankings have not came back. This isn't for every location either. It seems very random as far as the drop in rankings. Did anything happen with local rankings at this time? Did anyone else see this? This is only affecting the Google traffic. Let me know your thoughts.
