Any ideas for linkbait?
-
Hi,
I'm working on an account where we are optimizing SEO, SEA and Conversion. The business is a very local car rental company that competes with Hertz, Europcar, ...
I already posted a question about it here http://www.seomoz.org/q/very-fluctuating-rankings
The lack of time made it almost impossible for this business to start bloggin', but we're about to change that in 2012 and I already came up with some ideas for some articles, but still looking for that big fish that will get those good links.
Maybe an infograph, but what data should we cover?
Any other suggestions on articles that are linkworthy are welcome -
Thanks,
I'll see what we can do with the funny video idea if the client accepts on doin' it I will show you the result

Comparing client site to industry site is useful, but unless there is some striking difference it could serve to narrow the appeal of your content.
If you've got access to their data maybe just start by joining the dots and seeing what interesting patterns form along the lines of "Customers who X are more/less likely to Y."
Think about the sites you want to link/republish - what are they interested in and what data do you have related to that?
-
- Car Rental Catastrophes
- Keep a log of stupid stuff people do to your cars, and how you fixed it.
- Funny Video
- Show someone that is revving up the engine (with some insanely powerful sounding engine revs), winking to the ladies on the street corner and then show him peeling away in a Toyota Yaris/Chevy Aveo/Honda Fit. (like this, but with an actual good idea!)
- Do a daily FML picture
- Someone blocks you into your parking spot... FML
- Suggest readers to submit their photos
- Give a link to my website... Oh woops, how did that get on here???

Thx,
We also have analysed a lot of his data of past 8 years, so we can probably get something out of that as wel, maybe we can compare data in industry report to data about his business

For infographics I like to use industry reports as a source. Most industries manage to produce long, dull reports that no-one cares about. However that 100 pages of boring text probably includes some gold for infographics. Best of all it has already been collated for you, saving lots of research. Ask the client what has arrived on their desk / in their inbox that might be relevant

Link Requests in Order Confirmation Emails- Still a good idea?
I found this post from Rand from 2008 http://moz.com/blog/headsmacking-tip-1-link-requests-in-order-confirmation-emails 5 years later I'm wondering in a "no-follow" for all unnatural links in the google world we currently live in, is it still a good idea? Also does is really work? or does it annoy the customer? would it be better to use that space to up sell to your customer?

Is this a good idea for link earning?
Hi, One of our clients provides legal documents online and one of the document is bespoke 'Privacy Policy' for websites. It normally comes with a price as solicitors draft each policy manually. We were thinking to offer this for Free 1 - As a promotion so that we can attract webmasters 2- to earn links that we will ask webmasters to give us a link from their website once they add the text I wanted to get the understanding from you before i go ahead if this is a good a way to gain links or not? I appreciate your input Thank you

Ideas needed for onsite SEO
Hi, What sort of activity 'onsite' should I be doing to increase SEO? I was thinking of a FAQ's section with 1 anchor text link in the body of the answer going back to my target page. Will the increase in content along with the anchor text inside of it help increase SERP's? I was also thinking maybe use the keyword tool to find search queries which revolve around questions with high search so for example 'How to change a tyre' answering this question in my FAQ's section and running PPC to it, then wrapping lots of sharing tools around it in the hope it generates some social signals. Anyone got any hidden onsite gems they think might help? Cheers

Creative link building ideas for law sites
I have a client who does not actively participate in the content writing or resource providing part of optimization or link building. I want to build some more links to the site outside of content spreading and guest blogging. I have read a lot of the recent articles on creative ways to build links but feel that most would not apply to this kind of site. Any ideas on creative link building methods for a law services info site?

Launching an infographic as linkbait- best practices.
Hey guys. I created my first infographic and I'm hoping it's something that will attract a lot of links. I just have some questions about the best ways to present the infographic. Should I post it on a page on my site that has no ads? no branding? Or should I go ahead and put it on my site as a regular piece of content (with ads in the sidebars.) I wondered about doing this: -Post the infographic as a regular page on my site (with regular ads), but if someone clicks on the infographic it would go to a second page where there is limited branding (or no branding) and no ads. The embed code (that other webmasters can grab) would link to this page. But, this page would have a rel-canonical pointing to the original page. The idea is that my page on the subject will end up getting a lot of links (albeit processed through a rel-canonical) and webmasters will be more likely to embed or link to my content because it is not littered with ads. Thoughts?

Need ideas to get do follow links from highly competative niche "wedding"
I need to get high quality do-follow links and my target market/keyword is ‘Maui wedding’ and a few others. Because it is such a competitive market I am having a hard time getting links from local companies providing Maui Weddings (I know why because they are my competitors) and national companies sites aren't much help because they are trying to provide leads to their advertisers. I would like do-follow links from non-paid sources any ideas or resources you could help with would be much appreciated. Thanks.
