Techniques for Finding Blogs that Accept Guest Blog Posts
-
I'm running into an issue where we are having difficulty finding blogs that accept guest blog posts after doing this on 300 or so blogs. We usually Google "guest post" related keywords with "blog" or take blogs off of lists of sites that accept guest blog posts. What techniques do you recommend? Do any of you use myblogguest.com with any success?

Finding blogs can certainly be difficult when you've guest posted on 300+ blogs in your niche. I wrote a YouMoz post last year about ways to find guest post opportunities - perhaps that could be of some inspiration?
I also created a free tool to help generate queries to find guest post opportunities based on a variety of keywords - it sounds similar to the method you've used to find current guest post opportunities, but perhaps there are a couple query variations that you haven't tried yet - check it out here: Guest Post Opportunity Finder.
Aside from that, what comes to mind is figuring out ways to post on blogs that may not be directly related to your niche - in other words, horizontal guest blogging. For example, if you are doing SEO for a construction company, don't solely focus on construction blogs, but figure out ways to create content that can be shopped to real estate, home improvement, and green or sustainable building blogs. Sugarrae wrote an awesome post that talks about horizontal guest blogging.

I use the Ontolo link toolset to help me find and prospect for blogs for guest posting. It's not free but it works really well and has saved me a ton of time / made my life a lot easier. They do have a free trial though. You can get info at www.ontolo.com
(No outside relationship here, just a happy user of their software)

Yes, I have had pretty good success with myblogguest.com. The best chances are those with the most recent postings in "looking for writers". I have about a 1 in 4 success rate in publishing when I feel I have strong content. Then look at all the blogs in the system database, they have a much lower response rate much less approval rate but I have find some gems.
I would imagine anyone publishing on over 300 sites would know this, but I have found some good contacts in the Cathy Stucker email, sign up at http://www.bloggerlinkup.com/. As a caution, I found when you offer the post and someone inquires about it, they have stolen it without linking. Check their site before you give out your content. If a site has posted needing content, always has been safe.

How new website / blogs can earn backlinks?
Hi, As link wheels, link pyramids and paid links are penalized by google and the only chance to get back links is to earn them. My Question is that with a new website / blog, how a newbie with no relationships with established bloggers, can earn links? Because writing quality contents and detailed posts (e.g. more than 3000 words posts twice a month) still would benefits for those blogs having already traffic to share these contents and in case of new blog, due to very low traffic, it would take months or years to enter in the game. Please propose step by step strategy / plan / footprint for newly born website and marketers. Thanks

Handling External links to articles in a blog
I have a blog that has it's own articles but then also want to feature third-party sites that have my op-ed content on them. Wondering what is the best practice for handling external links. The reason we want to do this: Make sure our followers and people who subscribe to our blog see all our content (especially when a third-party "high authority" publisher is featuring articles from our authors We also want to be able to get a ranking for the article title when someone searches for it on Search Engines. i.e I write an article for hubspot called "my article about something". When googling "my article about something" I want to see both the Hubspot listing (where my article originated on) as well as a link to my website where I show an abstract (original abstract) and then the link links to the hubspot article. For example: www.myblog.com/listing (renders a listing of articles with links to each individual article) If showing an "abstract" for the blog article and then linking out to the third-party source (where content is featured) www.myblog.com/category/post-title (renders actual article page) When showing an individual post-title page what are the minimum requirements (META TAGS, length or amount of characters ,etc) Thanks in advance!

Removing links from rubbishy 'blog' sites
I need to remove around 800 bad links, probably about 500 domains as a very rough estimate. These were built by a previous link building company. Here some example domains: http://globalweddingblog.com

http://womansonlineblog.org I have already tried emailing a hundred or so with a manual link request - with zero outcome. Hardly surprising when you consider the types of sites they are. I've had a quote for a link removal service, but I'm not sure if it's wise to pay someone to do this work - not sure what resources/tools they would have above and beyond what I can access and there could be increased risk. Any advice?0 -
