To fix the Title element from being to long, you'll want to edit your <title>tag in the header of your website. If you use Wordpress, you can try getting a plugin to help you manage this. Most people suggest either <strong>Yoast's WordPress SEO</strong> or <strong>All-in-One SEO</strong>. If you use Joomla to manage your website, I suggest <strong>TagsMeta</strong> for all your meta needs (supports canonical URLS too.) If your website is hard-coded from scratch, then just head on over to your Title tag and make sure it's under 70 characters.</p> <p><br />Duplicate Content. Make sure certain pages don't contain to much of the same content from other pages on your site (or other sites in general.) You can check for duplicate content in many ways.</p> <ol> <li>Grab a snippet of text on your site and do a quick Google search for it to see if your content exists on another website.</li> <li>Grab that same snippet and do a site:yourdomain.com "the copied text here" to see if you are getting multiple pages indexed with the same content</li> <li>Make sure you have a 301 redirect on your domain so the site is only accessible from www.yourdomain.com <strong>or</strong> yourdomain.com. Otherwise you may be getting the same page indexed because it's accessible from both yourdomain.com and WWW version of the page.</li> </ol> <p>Duplicate Page Title - fix that while updating your title tags, make sure all your title tags are targeting keywords specific for the page they are on, and make sure you use unique title tags as often as possible.</p> <p> </p></title>

520 Error from crawl report with Cloudflare
I am getting a lot of 520 Server Error in crawl reports. I see this is related to Cloudflare. We know 520 is Cloudflare so maybe the Moz team can change this from "unknown" to "Cloudflare 520". Perhaps the Moz team can update the "how to fix" section in the reporting, if they have some possible suggestions on how to avoid seeing these in the report of if there is a real issue that needs to be addressed. At this point I don't know. There must be a solution that Moz can provide like a setting in Cloudflare that will permit the Rogerbot if Cloudflare is blocking it because it does not like its behavior or something. It could be that Rogerbot is crawling my site on a bad day or at a time when we were deploying a massive site change. If I know when my site will be down can I pause Rogerbot? I found this https://developers.cloudflare.com/support/troubleshooting/general-troubleshooting/troubleshooting-crawl-errors/

Heroku, Subdomains, redirecting to different servers & SEO
Hi all, I've got a big question. I'm helping out with digital marketing at a non-profit that I volunteer with. We're working on developing an on site blog for our site, because we've realized we need that middle of the funnel content. Our issue has been taking up much of the developers' time & we're really working out the kinks with the system, so I'm trying to alleviate that with a light blog solution. We're considering installing a wordpress site on a separate server from the main site & sending traffic over to that. The primary questions: Do we negatively impact our main site by having a link to a different domain in the topnav? Do we positively impact the main site by developing SEO content on a redirected&masked URL? What are the ramifications of redirecting a subdomain to another server? Would we be better off using something like Ghost? A good example would be: Visit theMainDomain

Click: blog on topnav
Redirect to: theSecondDomain/blog [masked as theMainDomain/blog]
Click: home on topnav

Temporary Redirects - Trackback & Feed
Under my MOZ account I'm getting a bunch of temporary redirect warnings. Most of them are blog post with a /feed or a /trackback . I know the trackback URL's are coming from blogs where people have commented because it brings up a Trackback URL | Comments RSS Feed section. I'm not sure how to make this /trackback work. The only line of code in my editor that says trackback is h3#postinfo,

How do you fix soft 404 errors?
I'm getting soft 404 errors for a gallery on my site: http://chrle.us/MBKs yet when I visit the url: http://www.chrisboar.com/html/galleries/114/portfolio/weddings-1/0 the image/url is there. Not sure how to fix this. note we do redirect the site to the flash site and only use those URLs for SEO purposes. Maybe that is what is causing it. thanks

Webmaster tools...URL Errors
Hi mozzers, Quick question. Whats the best thing to do about URL errors in webmaster tools. They are all 404s that point from external sites. Many of them are junk spam sites. Should I mark them as "fixed" or just leave them. I'm hoping google is aware it's out of my control if spam sites want to link to 404s on my site. Peter

Get rid of a large amount of 404 errors
Hi all, The problem:Google pointed out to me that I have a large increase of 404 errors. In short I had software before that created pages (automated) for long tale search terms and feeded them to google. Recently I quit this service and all those pages (about 500000) were deleted. Now google GWM points out about 800000 404 errors. What I noticed: I had a large amount of 404's before when I changed my website. I fixed it (proper 302) and as soon as all the 404's in GWM were gone I had around 200 visitors a day more. It seems that a clean site is better positioned. Anybody any suggestion on how to tell google that all urls starting with www.domain/webdir/ should be deleted from cache?

Funky 404 error on reports
The report is showing a 404 error where a URL is being appended to the end of the address. It does not show up on the website of on the Sitemap so am wondering if I am missing something or is it a system error?
