How do you fix soft 404 errors?

I'm getting soft 404 errors for a gallery on my site: http://chrle.us/MBKs

yet when I visit the url: http://www.chrisboar.com/html/galleries/114/portfolio/weddings-1/0

the image/url is there. Not sure how to fix this.

note we do redirect the site to the flash site and only use those URLs for SEO purposes. Maybe that is what is causing it.

The error says: "redirecting users to another page such as the homepage instead of a 404."

I don't see the image, I do see a page but it "immediately redirects" me - as per the soft 404 error message.

I get sent back to:

http://www.chrisboar.com

Errors In Search Console

Hi All, I am hoping someone might be able to help with this. Last week one of my sites dropped from mid first day to bottom of page 1. We had not been link building as such and it only seems to of affected a single search term and the ranking page (which happens to be the home page). When I was going through everything I went to search console and in crawl errors there are 2 errors that showed up as detected 3 days before the drop. These are: wp-admin/admin-ajax.php showing as response code 400 and also xmlrpc.php showing as response code 405 robots.txt is as follows: user-agent: * disallow: /wp-admin/ allow: /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php Any help with what is wrong here and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated. Https and 404 code that goes into htaccess

The 404 error code we put into htaccess files for our websites does not work correctly for our https site. We recently changed one of our http sites to https. When we went to create a 404.html page for it by creating an htaccess folder with the 404 error code in it, once we uploaded the file all of our webpages were displaying incorrectly, as if the css was not attached. The 404 code we used works successfully for our other 404.html pages for our other sites (www.telfordinc.com/404.html). However, it does not work for the https site. What is the best way to handle links that lead to a 404 page

Hi Team Moz, I am working through a site cutover with an entirely new URL structure and have a bunch of pages that could not, would not or just plain don't redirect to new pages. Steps I have taken: Multiple new sitemaps submitted with new URLs and the indexing looks solid used webmasters to remove urls with natural result listings that did not redirect and produce urls Completely built out new ppc campaigns with new URL structures contacted few major link partners Now here is my question: I have a pages that produce 404s that are linked to in forums, slick deals and stuff like that which will not be redirected. Is disavowing these links the correct thing to do?

Importance of correction of technical errors

Hello everyone!!! I have question that i know it has been asked so many times. However i am looking for an idea for my specific situation. I own a website about commercial steel. My main focus has been getting incoming links from important companies and sites, while maintaining a good quality site. Ive been struggling with ranks and Page Authority. Ive never put attention to technical errors such as Duplicate Content, 4XX Errors and critical warnings such as Redirects. I have around 70 errors and around 400 warnings. Someone told me that as long as the website is "user friendly" i should worry about that. I have scarce resources to my SEO efforts. Which aspect should i put more effort?. Link Building and Quality Content vs Technical SEO ??? Is there a recommended balance mix towards a better PA, DA and Overall Quality?? I know is difficult, but it would be extremely helpful to hear from you!! Regards.

I chagned the template few times.. most of the error ends with a /comments. Fixing a website redirect situation that resulted in drop in traffic

Hi, I'm trying to help someone fix the following situation: they had a website, www.domain.com, that was generating a steady amount of traffic for three years. They then redesigned the website a couple of months ago, and the website developer redirected the site to domain.com but did not set up analytics on domain.com. We noticed that there was a drop in traffic to www.domain.com but have no idea if domain.com is generating any traffic since analytics wasn't installed. To fix this situation, I was going to find out from the developer if there was a good reason to redirect the site. What would have prompted the developer to do this if www.domain.com had been used already for three years? Then, unless there was a good reason, I would change the redirect back to what it was before - domain.com redirecting to www.domain.com. Presumably this would allow us to regain the traffic to the site www.domain.com that was lost when the redirect was put in place. Does this sound like a reasonable course of action? Is there anything that I'm missing, or anything else that I should do in this situation? Thanks in advance! Carolina

Should I worry about these 404's?

Just wondering what the thought was on this. We have a site that lets people generate user profiles and once they delete the profile the page then 404's. I was told there is nothing we can do about those from our developers, but I was wondering if I should worry about these...I don't think they will affect any of our rankings, but you never know so I thought I would ask.
