Guest posts/article marketing can be considered as paid posts by SEs?
-
Hi,
Guest posting/article Marketing is a major part of our link building strategy. Normally we get one or two links for our site and one or two links to other authority sites(relevant).
Some time author bio is not published with article or even not mention that this is a guest post. ( I know that we get just link and missed the other advantages of guest if author bio isn't mention)
Is this a good practice especially when some posts are published on low quality blogs?
SEs can be considered these as paid posts?
What will be the better way to do this?
Thanks
Alex

Guest posts/articles wouldn't generally be considered paid, but they can create problems if they're obviously low quality or if you're spinning the same articles across dozens of sites. It really depends on a lot of factors:
(1) How much you use this tactic. No single tactic like this, especially if low-quality, should be the bulk of your link-building. Diversity is very important ("natural" link profiles tend to be diverse).
(2) If the sites are part of a link network. There's been a big crackdown lately on networks, and many article marketing services use them. If you're buying into a network or service, it's a lot more likely. If you're finding places to guest post manually, it's probably not a big risk.
(3) If the post/articles are clearly spammy. Use your judgment - if you look at the blogs your articles are posted on, and there are 20 other articles all on unrelated topics in spammy verticals (mortgages or pay-day loans, for example), it's going to be easy for Google to spot your quality issues. You may not get penalized, but the links will be devalued.

Hi Alex,
Assuming the blogs are genuine and the articles are unique I can't see how search engine's could possibly know for sure whether the content is paid for or not.
It sounds like a pretty sound strategy to me.

Two Domains, Same Products/Content
We're an e-commerce company with two domains. One is our original company name/domain, one is a newer top-level domain. The older domain doesn't receive as much traffic but is still searched and used by long-time customers who are loyal to that brand, who we don't want to alienate. The sites are both identical in products and content, which creates a duplicate content issue. I have come across two options so far: 1. a 301 redirect from the old domain to the new one. 2. Optimize the content on the newer domain (the strongest of the two) and leave the older domain content as is. Does anyone know of a solution better than the two I listed above or have experience resolving a similar problem in the past?

Guest writer for a magazine that is .pdf?
I was asked to be a guest contributor to an online bridal magazine, but not sure if there would be any linking value on it, as it is a pdf. Of course, there would be readers who might remember me, and come visit our site. But for linking purposes, I don't see any seo benefit. But I am a newbie, so I might be missing something. The magazine's are in a pdf format. Here is a link: http://bridesclub.com/wedding-magazines/Spotlight-NW-Fall-2013.pdf You can also view it online but they redirect to www.issuu.com/ And the links are no followed. Anyone have any advice? Thank in advance!

What else rather than posts for linkbuilding?
Hello, My question is: we all know that blogs or great content is the way to good backlinks. But rather than this, what other ways are to build quality links to a website? I for example try researching competition backlinks (with opensiteexplorer), or find directories etc. Is this the right way? I also try to produce great content, but I would have liked more technical SEO tricks for this 🙂 And one more thing: how long links are needed before they impact rankings? Thanks if someone can help! How do I presuade Google to re-consider my site?
A few weeks ago I got an emai from Google that my site is suspected to violating Google guidelines-->suspected links manipulationg Google Page rank. My site dropped to the second page. I have contacted some of the top webmasters who link to me and they have removed the links or added a nofollow. When I asked for re-consideation I got an answear that there are still suspected links. What do I do now? I can't remove all of my links?! BTW this happened before the offical Pinguin Update.

Domain Authority / Page Authority
I manage a site that has home page authority of 69, and overall domain authority of 63. To improve domain authority, would it help to remove some of the pages that have 0 page authority? There are over 1,000 pages to this site, and I always thought that the more pages you have, the better (generally). But, does it actually hurt the site to have pages that Google perceives as having 0 page authority, or does this have no bearing? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
