How to Find problem domain history
-
Hi
I have what most of you may think is a dumb question but here goes. please be nice...
So I have a client (http://www,ace-alarms.co.uk) who are having a real problem ranking for ANY of their key words.
I know it's a reasonably competitive area but I've not seen such a stubborn domain and it seems that no matter what we do there's nothing listed.
i'm thinking that there may be a problem with the domain name.
My question is; how can I find out if this is a problem domain.
Thanks in advance
Steve

Great advice. Not thought of that.
Thanks so much.

You might check to be sure that their content isn't being scraped and republished. Some really aggressive scrapers grab the content of sites in these difficult and valuable niches and republish it on their own domain. I know of cases where sites are crawled many times per day looking for that new page of content.
Grab a unique sentences from a couple of pages, put it between quotes and see if dupes are out there.

Looks like it's all OK. I know.
BUT... only 1 keyword in the top 50 "Ace-Alarms". That's to be expected though.
Thanks for the quick response.
Cheers
Steve

They are getting indexed=> site:ace-alarms.co.uk, so probably not a penalty.

Domain Name redirection to new Domain Name - VS - Transfering Domaine Name from account 1 to account 2
Hi there! Thanks for your time 😉 I have a new cutsomer that bought his domain name via WIX and your know... WIX sucks huge time for SEO. Basically, we want to do SEO outside of WIX. But I am not sure HOW I should proceed. I think I have 2 options: OPTION 1- We transfer the domain name from WIX to a new hoster. But we will lose 7 days during that, lose prospects while the website is in maintenance and we might lose the little bit of ranking we have on the way. BUT! ONCE Everything is done with the transfer, we will be able to operate our SEO campaing with a Domain Name that as 15 domain authority, links, little bit a ranking, etc. OPTION 2- I just buy a new domain name. I build the new Website on it and then use the SEO juice from the old domain name with redirect to push the new domain name. Like this, I won't lose any opportunities. BUT I will have to restart the SEO as new... Any tips or ideas for me? Maybe there is an OPTION 3 that I don't know about.

Why do some reputable publishers have problems with their microdata?
I'm using the Google Structured Data Testing Tool to test: https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool NY Times and Women's Health being two good examples. These two reputable publishers don't seem to have the microdata they've implemented recognized. Are they doing something wrong or is there a problem with the tool?

Domain dominance
I've just started to work for a company who've purchased masses of domains with every conceivable permutation based on all their products with every extension possible e.g .biz . eu. .net (including .co.uk and .com of course). I have two questions: 1. Is it worth keeping all these (they want to add more) domains or let them expire? 2. All the purchased domains are online - is there any point (they redirect with a 301)?

Community inside the domain or in a separate domain
Hi there, I work for an ecommerce company as an online marketing consultant. They make kitchenware, microware and so on. The are reviewing their overall strategy and as such they want to build up a community. Ideally, they would want to have the community in a separate domain. This domain wouldn't have the logo of the brand. This community wouldn't promote the brand itself. The brand would post content occassionally and link the store domain. The reasoning of this approach is to not interfere in the way of the community users and also the fact that the branded traffic acquired doesn't end up buying at the store I like this approach but I am concerned because the brand is not that big to have two domains separated and lose all the authority associated with one strong domain. I would definitely have everything under the same domain, store and community, otherwise we would have to acquire traffic for two domains. 1. What do you think of both scenarios, one domain versus two? Which one is better? 2. Do you know any examples of ecommerce companies with successful communities within the store domain? Thanks and regards

How to find what Googlebot actually sees on a page?
1. When I disable java-script in Firefox and load our home page, it is missing entire middle section. 2. Also, the global nav dropdown menu does not display at all. (with java-script disabled) I believe this is not good. 3. But when type in <website name="">in Google search and click on the cached version of home page > and then click on text only version, It displays the Global nav links fine.</website> 4. When I switch the user agent to Googlebot(using Firefox plugin "User Agent Swticher)), the home page and global nav displays fine. Should I be worried about#1 and #2 then? How to find what Googlebot actually sees on a page? (I have tried "Fetch as Googlebot" from GWT. It displays source code.) Thanks for the help! Supriya.
