Best way to host new product?
-
Hi guys
We are launching a new product, the web pages are being built by a 3rd party and fall outside our current CMS.
We're considering either hosting it on 1) sub domain 2) folder within existing site (although will be tricky to implement) or 3) a different URL altogether.
What would you say is the best for SEO?
Many thanks in advance....
Nigel

I'm not 100% sure how google treats subdomains these days, but normally i would think it would be best to use a folder within existing site to be able to profit from existing SERP.

Best & easiest way to 301 redirect on IIS
Hi all, What is the best and easiest way to 301 redirect URLs on IIS server? I got access to the FTP and WordPress back office, but no access to the server admin. Is there an easy way to create 301 redirect without having to always annoy the tech in charge of the server? Thanks!

Advice urgently needed on best practice for handling multiple product categories on Magento website
I have an ecommerce site built using Magento and urgently need advice on best practice for handling multiple product categories (where products appear in more than one category on the site creating multiple URLs to the same page). In April this year, based on advice from my SEO who felt that duplicate content issues were causing my rankings to be held back, I changed about 25% of the product categories to 'noindex, follow'. This has made organic traffic fall (obviously) as these pages fell out of Google's index. But, contrary to what I was hoping for, it didn't then improve rankings - not one iota, nothing - which was the ONLY reason why I did this. This has had a real negative impact on sales, so I'm starting to think this was actually an a terrible idea. Should I change them back? And to ask a wider question, what is best practice for this particular scenario?

How to best keep client hosting separate but manageable?
For those of you with a number of client accounts for which you do hosting, how do you keep them manageable but separate? Let's assume you have both public and private clients and don't want someone to do a reverse IP/server lookup and be able to identify everyone you work with. Additionally clients can be working in the US/UK/EU and want localised hosting. I'm looking for a large shared hosting provider (with some potentially dedicated options) who will let me manage accounts on multiple physical servers in a variety of geolocations from a single billing account and preferably a single admin panel as well. Once client contracts end I also need the ability to let them take over the hosting in a break-away account and to be able to add their own billing details. I'm looking for a solution a bit more upmarket than something like SEOhosting from Hostgator (which doesn't allow me to specify geolocation territories anyway), potentially with an account manager to help me sort out the individual requirements. Does anybody have any ideas of providers or what I should be searching for to get what I want?

What is the best strategy for a company in various countries?
Hello I have to make yt SEO marketing strategy for a company that provides services in Spain, Colombia and Mexico

I'm looking at two options: Buy different domains (TLD): This option seems feasible but very expensive and manage each domain position it would have to have different content in each (plus you would not know that because it is put exactly the same domain) Place each service and country folders eg
www.dominio.com / mexico / training-financiero.html
www.dominio.com / espana / training-financiero.html I have understood that option 1 is no longer necessary since you can use html tags within the code to tell Google that you try to target content to customers from a different country.
In principle we would use the same content would change only a few words and of course the currency to suit the local currency of each country. However I believe that customers could rely more on a domain if their country. Plus I'm afraid I google indexed as duplicate content is another matter What country would main that could confuse the visitor?0 -
Best practice for rich snippet product data - which page shows up?
We have a website with thousands of pages that rank locally for a specific service we offer. What I'd like to do is add rich snippets to these pages. I'd like to setup the services we offer as 'products' in the rich snippets, so that our 2 services show up below the url as rich snippets. I guess I'm not sure if the markup is supposed to be on the product page itself, or if I should use the offerurl tag, to create a separate page on the site whose only purpose is to have a long list of the services we offer pointing to the local pages as the offer url's. What do I do with this page? what are best practices for this offer aggregator? Are there any resources I can look at? Am I even doing this right? I'm new to having markup pages, and I'm hoping that the markup code doesn't actually need to be on the product offer page itself, but that the product offer page is the one that shows up on the results - that is my last question actually - which page will show up? the offerurl link, or the actual markup page.
