PR calculation

I just used the PR formula for google and noticed that I when I cross link between my categories which are on the same level the juice / PR of my homepage diminishes...
Is there s way to boast the sub pages and the the homepage at the same time or has google put together some algorithm that does this that I do not know about ?

Hi,
Do you mean the patent that Google published years ago? They've done a bit of updating to the algo since then.
What makes sense for your users for linking categories? Don't forget that they are an important part of your site.

Strange internal links and trying to improve PR ? - Please advise
Hi All, I've been looking at the internal links on my eCommerce site to try and improve PR and get it as efficient as possible so link juice isnt getting wasted etc and I've come across some odd ones I would like some advice on My website currently has between 125-146 links on every page (Sitemap approx 3500 pages). From what I read ,the ideal number of links is under 100 but can someone confirm is this is still the case ?..Is it a case of less is more , in terms of improving a page PR etc ? in terms of link juice strength etc so it's not getting diluted to unnecessary pages. One of my links is a bad url ( my domain + phone number for reason) which currently goes to a 404 page ?. - Is this okay or do we need to track down the link and remove it. I don't want link juice getting wasted as it's on every page. Another one of my links is my domain.name/# and another one with some characters after the # which both to the home page. Example www.domain.co.uk/# and www.domain.co.uk#abcde both go to homepage. Is this okay or am I potentially getting duplicate content as If I put these urls in , they go to my home page. I have a link on every page which opens up outlook (email) on the contact us. Should this really be changed to a button with a contact us form opening up instead ? I currently have 9 links on the bottom on every page i.e About it , delivery , hire terms,.contact us , trade accounts , privacy, sitemap. When I check , these pages seem to be my strongest pages in terms of PR. Is that because they are on every page?.. Should I look to reduce these links as they are accessible from the navigation menu apart from privacy and sitemap. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated ? thanks Pete

What would cause all main pages to go from various PR1 PR2 PR3 to PR Unranked?
Weird, my rankings have fallen on one of my sites and all the main pages that were ranking are now PR unranked. We did ad some domains to a disavow file, but nothing major that should have had an impact like this. Pages are all allowed to be indexed and not blocked and are currently indexed in Google. Can Google just come around and decide they don't like these pages anymore and PR unrank them all?

My site was a PR 5 and now is unranked?
A site that I do SEO and SMM (www.corporatecomplianceinsights.com) had a PR 5 and now it shows "unranked". I had the #1 position for many core keywords, and now they are all gone. I don't do any black hat at all. Mostly article distribution and onsite content growth. The only logical thing that I can think of is, the server was going down several times a day, for about 3 days, a few weeks ago. But I can imagine that would cause me to lose all my rankings, and a PR 5. But then again, this has never happened to me before. I am trying to find out what caused this, how to fix the problem, and how long it will take to recover. Any suggestions or help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to pay for good advice on this issue if need be. JT

Homepage with a lower PR?
Can anybody give me an example of 2-4 sites that have lower PR on the homepage and a higher PR on secondary pages (about us, etc)? And is there a way to search for such sites in Google? Thanks

High PR backlinking blogs
I have a few high pr blogs all setup on different ip addresses. Should I optimize these blogs for my chosen keywords I want to use as backlinks to my "money site". In other words if my keyword is "ice cream" and im sending links back to my money site with the anchor text "ice cream" and ice cream type keywords...wouldnt it be logical to make that blog optimized for ice cream as well? My thought is that google will find these links even more powerful if they come from a website that already appears to be ice cream related. ...man i want some ice cream now

Buying domains with prior age and or PR
Is there any value to buying a domain for its PR or age? Or is it no better than a brand new unregistered domain name? On the flip side, is there any potential danger of buying domains with PR and age?

What causes internal pages to have a page rank of 0 if the home page is PR 5?
The home page PageRank is 5 but every single internal page is PR 0. Things I know I need to address each page has 300 links (Menu problem). Each article has 2-3 duplicates caused from the CMS working on this now. Has anyone else had this problem before? What things should I look out for to fix this issue. All internal linking is follow there is no page rank sculpting happening on the pages.

Which link url placement to buy - High PR vs. High PA?
I'm about to buy one directory link (just the one!) but can't decide which URL to place my link on in that directory because of the varying metrics - which is better of the below (bearing in mind my own site is still a PR0 sitewide)? www.exampledirectory.com/categoryA/subtategory1/

Metrics: 21 linking domains, PA 44, DA 59, PR0 www.exampledirectory.com/categoryA/
Metrics:1 linking domain, PA 35, DA 59, PR5 I know PR is no longer relevant and usually ignore this metric (except for possible penalties) and just focus on Seomoz toolbar metrics, but as my own site itself is PA:37 and DA:28 homepage but PR0 completely sitewide (over 6 months old but relatively new site), I thought this might help to balance things. Thanks for your advice.0
