Delete or not delete...

Hello there.
We have a blog for one client with 270 posts and we want to keep only the best posts, in order to avoid Panda penalties.
In your opinion how can we understand which one is worth while to keep online in the blog and which one is better to delete from the blog?
Which Google Analytics metric would you use to determine the quality of the posts and then grade them?
Before make this big curator work we wanna show an Excell file to our Client.
Many thanks for all your suggestions.

Even if it's original content, filtering flimsy pages with little data for the user are what panda is all about. You can noidexed follow them and then gradually open them back up as you add additional content.
look at your pages report and see top traffic generating pages, those pages are getting traffic because Google likes them and is ranking them. You definitely don't want to block any pages that are getting ranked and bringing visitors.

Many thanks Irving, what about if every post is original content?
Specifically what metrics you'll check and take care about in Google Analytics?
Thank you

anything that is not original, noindex follow it.
check to see which pages are getting the most traffic and keep those or even add content to them.
noindex, follow pages that have less that 300 words or so to help combat panda

Should I delete all tags and just use my categories to organize content?
My website NorthernCaliforniaHikingTrails.com/blog has 400 or so tags, and it also has an extensive set of categories. I'm thinking about deleting all the tags, but keeping the categories and consolidating them a bit. Is there a significant SEO advantage to having tags in my case? I've seen a few very high-ranking websites actually rank for a tag, but I doubt my site will reach that level. Any help appreciated!

400+ deleted pictures, 404 on URLs, can they be deleted without penalty?
A client had a website redesign and over 400 pictures (she's a photographer) were lost. The URL's (ending in .png) are hanging out there and according to the site scan, they have a matching current URL. Since the pictures are gone can the URL be deleted?

Magento: Should we disable old URL's or delete the page altogether
Our developer tells us that we have a lot of 404 pages that are being included in our sitemap and the reason for this is because we have put 301 redirects on the old pages to new pages. We're using Magento and our current process is to simply disable, which then makes it a a 404. We then redirect this page using a 301 redirect to a new relevant page. The reason for redirecting these pages is because the old pages are still being indexed in Google. I understand 404 pages will eventually drop out of Google's index, but was wondering if we were somehow preventing them dropping out of the index by redirecting the URL's, causing the 404 pages to be added to the sitemap. My questions are: 1. Could we simply delete the entire unwanted page, so that it returns a 404 and drops out of Google's index altogether? 2. Because the 404 pages are in the sitemap, does this mean they will continue to be indexed by Google?

Should you delete old blog posts for SEO purposes?
Hey all, When I run crawl diagnostics I get around 500 medium-priority issues. The majority of these (95%) come from issues with blog pages (duplicate titles, missing meta desc, etc.). Many of these pages are posts listing contest winners and/or generic announcements (like, "we'll be out of the office tomorrow"). I have gone through and started to fix these, but as I was doing so I had the thought: what is the point of updating pages that are completely worthless to new members (like a page listing winners in 2011, in which case I just slap a date into the title)? My question is: Should I just bite the bullet and fix all of these or should delete the ones that are no longer relevant? Thanks in advance, Roman

Or Can make edits the old website content and make it 80% original for a new website?

Deleting Pages in One Fell Swoop
We're about to delete a bunch of unnecessary pages, largely responsible for our duplicate content woes. These are low traffic pages, and they were NEVER a good user experience. I just want to check and make sure I'll be setting up the proper way to account for their absence: 1. Set up 301's for all of them so they point to related pages 2. Remove them from the Sitemap 3. Also remove any internal links that previously pointed at them. Is there anything else I'm missing here? Or any additional moves I can make that I'm not thinking about? Thanks!

Do different meta titles & descriptions delete the canonical origin?
Hi, hopefully anyone knows something about this case: There is a canonical tag on site "www.xyz.com**/de_de/" **refering to site "www.xyz.com/de-de/". If the meta title and descriptions are different on both sides - is there a problem that google will not pay attention to the canonical tag? Do both sides need the same title and canonical? Thanx for your answers! Cheers Heiko!
