Removal of all low PR links
-
I have a lot of old directory links which where done years ago, most I think will be effecting my site. Is there away to find them all ie through open explorer and then remove them in one go?
-
Yup, Don't mass delete. If you don't have a lot of links, check each link and see if it is a good site that links to you. It is possible that the site that linked to you may not have high PR but that site is a niche related to your site. Those can be good to generate quality traffic.
-
Thanks to both of you, I am going to look at some of the sites and then disavow. I think a mass deletion could be the wrong step.

Hi,
If you believe that you have been penalized because of those low PR links, you can use the disavow tool and ask Google to not consider those sites. However, you have to use this tool with care. You should only use it if you are sure those sites affected you. Why? Even if those sites have low PR but they are not the reason for your decrease of rank and if you removed them, it might actually lower your rank more because you lost those low link juice.
Check out the Google Webmaster blog on how to use the disavow tool http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2012/10/a-new-tool-to-disavow-links.html
First, determine what is the real cause. Not all Low PR sites' link will harm your ranking.
Hope this helps.

The only way you can remove links to your site is to reaching out to the directories and asking them to remove your links. Are they all pointing to your homepage, if not you can 404 the internal URLs and that is the best way to drop links all in one shot. If they are to your homepage then it is a time consuming manual job involving tons of email requests to webmasters.
You can also used Google's disavow tool, but that is only recommended for sites which have already incurred a penalty.

Rich Snippet Date Removal
Hey Mozzers, I'm having a real problem getting some rich snippet data to go away! Normally i'm all for it, but in this case it's giving our department page a video rich snippet and also a really super old date (i'm not sure if this is connected with the video rich snippet, but it showed up at the same time). The SERP is here: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=pool+table&pws=0&hl=en&num=10 We are 3rd for our page http://www.libertygames.co.uk/store/pool_tables/ I can't find the date Google is using anywhere on the page, in the headers or file dates or anything. I've even removed the video markup and removed the page from the video sitemap, the rich snippet testing tool confirms this : http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.libertygames.co.uk%2Fstore%2Fpool_tables%2F Does anyone have any ideas why this might be showing up or if there is a way to speed up getting it off there and our old meta description back? I'm pretty sure it's killing our click-throughs. Thanks in advance, Stuart

Navigation links tagged as H3
I'm reviewing a website that has used the H3 tag in the Navigation Menu. I've not seen that before and first thought is it is a dodgy. Tags should relate to content on the page not link to another page. As a result of using H3 in Nav the ratio of content wrapped in Heading tags vs body content is quite high. My recommendation is to remove H3 tag from Nav but having searched Moz and not finding an article to verify that recommendation thought I'd ask the question.

How to fix broken links?
Hi, I use WordPress CMS with Yoast SEO plugin. I have just found out that my 403 errors increased dramatically. It seems that all my tags below of each post are being broken for some reason. When i click on the tags i get the following massage: **403 Forbidden Request forbidden by administrative rules. ** I assume it has something to do with the configuration within Yoast SEO plugin. Dose anyone know how should i fix that? Thanks, Raviv evsGujA

Adding parameters in URLs and linking to a page
Hi, Here's a fairly technical question: We would like to implement badge feature where linking websites using a badge would use urls such as: domain.com/page?state=texas&city=houston domain.com/page?state=neveda&city=lasvegas Important note: the parameter will change the information and layout of the page: domain.com/page Would those 2 urls above along with their extra parameters be considered the same page as domain.com/page by google's crawler? We're considering adding the parameter "state" and "city" to Google WMT url parameter tool to tel them who to handle those parameters. Any feedback or comments is appreciated! Thanks in advance. Martin

Self-referencing links
I personally think that self-referencing links are silly. It's blatantly easy for Google to tell and my instinct says that the link juice for this would simply evaporate rather than passing back to itself. Does anyone have information backing me up from an authoritative source? I can't find any info about this linked to Matt Cutts, Rand or any of those I look up to.

Internal linking to subdomains
Hi *, I have a main site called example.org, and a lot of user generated pages to foo.example.org / bar.example.org and so on. Most of those pages link back to example.org. In example.org I have a page that links to all subdomains. How can I optimize the pagerank of the list page? Should I add nofollow to subdomain sites to avoid passing link juice to those sites and keep normal linking from subdomain sites?
