The right way for review count?
-
Hi,
I have a question that kinda bothers me for a while now and would love to hear you guys thoughts on this matter.
One of the categories in my websites is services reviews, for example:
http://www.websiteplanet.com/review/questionform/Recently we upgraded the site and gave users the option to write their own review as well.
Now as you can see, the way it works is that we write a very big and informative/professional review ourself and in addition we give users the option to write their own reviews and share their experience with the service.
Now My question is:
There is the itemprop-review count thingy, now we did it so if 0 users wrote a review it will show 0 reviews on the count.
Is it correct? (Feel free to check the site code yourself)
Or is it wrong? because their is actually 1 review (our editors review)I hope I explained my self well...
If not, please let me know what is unclear. Thanks!

I can't see anything that specifically precludes you from counting you own review in that. However if there were a lot where the only review was you own I can see it could look like you were trying to manipulate things.
If you were doing that I would definitely include the reviewer markup as well. That would make it really clear that you were being open about the source.
This page might be useful, You've probably seen it already, but they are talking about mixed case there and seem fine with what you are suggesting:

Can my affiliate subdomain hurt in any way?
Hello everyone, My main website is: http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com Whereas the above site's related "affiliate" website is located on the subdomain below: http://affiliates.virtualsheetmusic.com I was wondering if having that "affiliate section" on a subdomain could affect the main website negatively in some way... or would be better to put it in a sub-folder on the main website, or even on a totally different domain. Thanks in advance for any advice!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/2ra6cdb5w609o8d/Screen Shot 2016-01-13 at 2.46.12 pm.png?dl=0 1-Is there a chance Google will include these reviews as it doesn't have a way of checking if they are real? They are in this case so that's why would be great to include them. 2- the stars don't seem to be in html, how can we mark the stars to be indexed by google? I want to include this schema
https://developers.google.com/structured-data/rich-snippets/reviews#aggregate_ratings I don't think we would be able to full-fill these items, what do you think? <code>spanvocab="http://schema.org/"typeof="Review"> <span< span="">property="itemReviewed"typeof="Thing"> <span< span="">property="name">Super Book This is not a boook is a service, what should I put here?</span<></span<> <span< span="">property="author"typeof="Person"> <span< span="">property="name">Joe</span<></span<> <span< span="">property="reviewRating"typeof="Rating"> Rating: <span< span="">property="ratingValue">7</span<> out of <span< span="">property="bestRating">10</span<></span<> <span< span="">property="publisher"typeof="Organization"> Whato this property means? Reviews are made by customers not organizations. <meta< span="">property="name"content="Washington Times"> same as abobe, they are not publishers.</meta<></span<></code> If you could help me it would be greatly appreciated. Is there a way to make Google realize/detect scraper content?
Good morning,Theory states that duplicated content reduces certain keywords’ position in Google. It also says that a web who copy content will be penalized. Furthermore, we have spam report tools and the scraper report to inform against these bad practices. In my case: the website, both, sells content to other sites and write and prepare its own content which is not in sale. However, other sites copy these last ones, publish them and Google do not penalize their position in results (not in organic results neither in Google news), even though they are reported using Google tools for that purpose.Could someone explain this to me? Is there a way to make Google realize/detect these bad practices? Thanks

Best way to handle page filters and sorts
Hello Mozzers, I have a question that has to do with the best way to handle filters and sorts with Googlebot. I have a page that returns a list of widgets. I have a "root" page about widgets and then filter and sort functionality that shows basically the same content but adds parameters to the URL. For example, if you filter the page of 10 widgets by color, the page returns 3 red widgets on the top, and 7 non-red widgets on the bottom. If you sort by size, the page shows the same 10 widgets sorted by size. We use traditional php url parameters to pass filters and sorts, so obviously google views this as a separate URL. Right now we really don't do anything special in Google, but I have noticed in the SERPs sometimes if I search for "Widgets" my "Widgets" and "Widgets - Blue" both rank close to each other, which tells me Google basically (rightly) thinks these are all just pages about Widgets. Ideally though I'd just want to rank for my "Widgets" root page. What is the best way to structure this setup for googlebot? I think it's maybe one or many of the following, but I'd love any advice: put rel canonical tag on all of the pages with parameters and point to "root" use the google parameter tool and have it not crawl any urls with my parameters put meta no robots on the parameter pages Thanks!

Suggestions for a SEO Review
I think it would be beneficial to have a third party seo review of the network of sites my team and I manage and was wondering if any of you had suggestions for what sort of tests should be done or that we should expect to see done during one of these reviews. We are a small team who has varying seo experience and have been working hard to make improvements to our sites in the past year. Most of our sites have been completely overhauled in the last 12-16 months and seo work that had not been done in the past has been setup, along with some corrections that may have been harming seo. We believe we are on the right track and have learned a good amount about seo in that time, but it would be nice to have some "expert" feedback outside of our office to get a clearer picture on anything we may be missing or some suggested improvements. A sort of double check on the work we have done.

What is the best way to learn SEO?
I was wondering if it's worth taking an SEO Training course. If so is it better to take a live class or Online class. Or is better to just read all the SEO Books out there? Or is there a good video series anyone can recommend? What is the best way to learn SEO? I have a good understanding of SEO but I'm not a Pro ( Yet ). Obviously SEO is always evolving so even the Pro's are constantly updating their skill set but I want to make sure my foundation is solid and complete. Advice Please. Thank you all.

Using comment boxes for building links (the right way)
Some people see this kind of link building as spammy mainly because of automated systems I guess making it spammy. But what if you use your company name linking to your site to indicate who has posted it and then actually contribute some good discussion. A lot of these are no-follow (although I have got it into my head even though they are no follow not passing juice I still think Google counts the link and it does something). So I want to start doing some of this, for example squidoo. Lots of lens with great content that I could quite easily comment on with 50 words+
