Same content pages in different versions of Google - is it duplicate>

Here's my issue I have the same page twice for content but on different url for the country, for example:

So one for USA and one for Great Britain. Or it could be a subdomain gb. or us. etc.
Now is it duplicate content is US version indexes the page and UK indexes other page (same content different url), the UK search engine will only see the UK page and the US the us page, different urls but same content.
Is this bad for the panda update? or does this get away with it? People suggest it is ok and good for localised search for an international website - im not so sure.
Really appreciate advice.

Hi there,
While it is ok to have substantially similar content reachable from different URLs intended for different geo-located audience, taking few precautions will minimize the confusion for both the search engines and the visitors. Here is what Google has to say in this regard:
"If you have several alternate URLs targeted at users with the same language but in different locales, it's a good idea to provide a generic URL for geographically unspecified users. For example, you may have specific URLs for English speakers in Ireland (
en-ie
), Canada (en-ca
), and Australia (en-au
), but want all other English speakers to see your generic English (en
) page, and everyone else to see the homepage. In this case you should specify the generic English-language (en
) page for searchers in, say, the UK. You can annotate this cluster of pages using a Sitemap file or using HTML link tags like this:For language/country selectors or auto-redirecting homepages, you should add an annotation for the hreflang value "x-default" as well:

This is the very situation where Google recommends that you use hreflang in order that you identify what version is intended for what country.
In your situation you need to implement in the head of your page
This tells Google that the gb version is intended for a UK audience and the US version is for aUS audience. This will help you avoid any duplication issue and should see that the correct URL version of your article is served in the right country SERPs.

Duplicate page url crawl report
Details: Hello. Looking at the duplicate page url report that comes out of Moz, is the best tactic to a) use 301 redirects, and b) should the url that's flagged for duplicate page content be pointed to the referring url? Not sure where the 301 redirect should be applied... should this url, for example: <colgroup><col width="452"></colgroup>

Duplicate content on URL trailing slash
Hello, Some time ago, we accidentally made changes to our site which modified the way urls in links are generated. At once, trailing slashes were added to many urls (only in links). Links that used to send to

We started noticing duplicate content (because our site renders the same page with or without the trailing shash). Duplicate Content Errors new website. How do you know which page to put the rel canonical tag on?
I am having problems with duplicate content. This is a new website and all the pages have the same page and domain rank, the following is an example of the homepage. Category Pages For Distributing Authority But Not Creating Duplicate Content
I read this interesting moz guide: http://moz.com/learn/seo/robotstxt, which I think answered my question but I just want to make sure. I take it to mean that if I have category pages with nothing but duplicate content (lists of other pages (h1 title/on-page description and links to same) and that I still want the category pages to distribute their link authority to the individual pages, then I should leave the category pages in the site map and meta noindex them, rather than robots.txt them. Is that correct? Again, don't want the category pages to index or have a duplicate content issue, but do want the category pages to be crawled enough to distribute their link authority to individual pages. Given the scope of the site (thousands of pages and hundreds of categories), I just want to make sure I have that right. Up until my recent efforts on this, some of the category pages have been robot.txt'd out and still in the site map, while others (with different url structure) have been in the sitemap, but not robots.txt'd out. Content Landing Page
Hey Mozzers, I wanted to get some opinions on here. I'm going to be building out the content on my site a lot of the next couple of months, and have recently started thinking about creating a content landing page. For those not familiar with the concept it's the idea of building this page that basically just pulls together all the content you've written on a specific subject & serves as hopefully a link magnet & destination for people interested in the topic. So my question is this, I am just outlining all of the different posts & areas that I want to cover on specific topics & it is a lot. I'm talking ~20 posts on each subject. Do you think that would be too much content to try & get on one page? Should I break it down to a more finite 5-7 links to high quality articles per page, or create basically this monster guide that links to all these different articles I'll create.
