3 month old site lost almost complete traffic overnight
-
Hi All,
I started a Indian coupon and deal site http://www.couponspy.in/ around 3 month ago and traffic increased almost daily. But yesterday my site lost almost all of its traffic. Keywords which ranked 1-5 lost around 4-15 places and keywords which ranked 6-20 lost ca. 20-50 places. The Moz Crawl Diagnostics doesn't indicate any mayor issues. Has there been a Google Panda update in India? Reasons why my site has been affected? Please help!!!!
I have seen the same traffic decrease on other coupon start ups, eg https://www.cuponation.in/ and https://www.cuponation.in/ Did we all make the same mistake? Any guesses?

It looks like you have a few followed site-wide footer links; the type I advice people to watch out for. Then there are a couple press release links passing equity. I wouldn't be surprised if Google simply devalued some links. Keep doing great work and adding unique value for your users, and avoid link schemes. You'll get there eventually

Hi,
If it is a new site it is not unusual for it to appear in pretty high positions and then fall back down once google has decided how it wants to sort/rank things. Quite possibly the same thing is happening with the other start ups you mention if they came online around about the same time. Lots of new sites aimed at similar keywords is certainly going to give the search engines a bit of food for thought in terms of how/where to rank. If you keep adding good content, attracting decent links and if the site is strong and the technicals are good you should see your rankings moving up again in the medium term.
Also worth mentioning that the coupons/deals sector can be pretty competitive and has a tendency to thin content and spammy link building sometimes, worth having a look at your top competitors and trying to see what they seem to be doing that is working for them. Did your site get caught up in a panda update? Maybe, but the way to approach it doesn't really change, address thin content issues and create good content wherever possible and naturally grow your link profile. Check out this post which is just as relevant now as it was two years ago!

Hi ParvatiSingh
It looks like you might have been hit by the latest Google algorithm updates. There have been several in the last 3 months such as Penguin 2.0. Unfortunately Google does not mention the international roll out dates. We only know when they roll things out in the US.

Traffic drop after hreflang tags added
We operate one company with two websites each serving a different location, one targeting EU customers and the other targeting US customers. thespacecollective.com (EU customers) thespacecollective.com/us/ (US customers) We have always had canonical tags in place, but we added the following hreflang tags two weeks ago (apparently this is best practice); EU site (thespacecollective.com) US site (thespacecollective.com/us/) Literally the same day we added the above hreflang tags our traffic dropped off a cliff (we have lost around 70-80% on the EU site, and after a minor recovery, 50% on the US site). Now, my first instinct is to remove the tags entirely and go back to just using canonical, but if this is truly best practice, that could do more damage than good. This is the only change that has been made in recent weeks regarding SEO. Is there something obvious that I am missing because it looks correct to me?

Managing multi-regional and multilingual sites
Hello, It's been a year since we launched our website and at first, we did it with a domain name called misitio.co. We have just bought the domain name mysite.com and my doubts are what should I do with the domains I have in other countries, for example .mx .br, should I redirect them to mysite.com or manage them independently? Thank you very much

Need help with search results for US site for a compnay that has many international sites
I am tasked with optimizing a US site for a company that has many international sites. Currently, if you search for just the main company name and don't include "USA" in your search, it won't even give you the US site on the SERP. It displays the Italian, French, etc etc sites - even though I'm searching on Google in the US with a preferred language of Engilsh. Unfortunately I don't have any control over the other sites, only the US one. Is there anything I can add to the US site (aside from setting the country code in GSC) so that when someone searches from within the USA, they get the US site and not all of the other ones? thanks!

In the U.S., how can I stop the European version of my site from outranking the U.S. version?
I've got a site with two versions – a U.S. version and a European version. Users are directed to the appropriate version through a landing page that asks where they're located; both sites are on the same domain, except one is .com/us and the other is .com/eu. My issue is that for some keywords, the European version is outranking the U.S. version in Google's U.S. SERPs. Not only that, but when Google displays sitelinks in the U.S. SERPs, it's a combination of pages on the European site and the U.S. site. Does anyone know how I can stop the European site from outranking the U.S. site in the U.S.? Or how I can get Google to only display sitelinks for pages on the U.S. site in the U.S. SERPs? Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this topic!
