Organic search data not representative of site Authority, need advice
-
Hi, I seeking some advice, I have an organic search issue, I would like to figure out if there is any reason why my site www.aatravel.co.za would not be doing well in the rankings?
This domain is more powerful than a previous Domain we had, 51 versus 37 according to MOZ, but despite this it is not ranking nearly as well.
There are a few things to consider. The domain was owned by us then got taken away about 3 years ago and then 301ed to a completely new site, then it was 404ed for about a year before we got it back, and now we have it back and have populated it with the same data as the less powerful Domain www.aaholidays.co.za. I believe that most of the AA Travel Authority comes from a stronger backlink profile.
Why would this now 2 month after we reskinned and converted 301s back not be ranking as highly? Is there an issue with old site structure and google not passing through the 301 link juice from old pages that have links to the new ones(we have 301ed them)?
Also I have 301ed the old aaholidays.co.za site to this one as the new home of AA Travel, that organic traffic was at about 8 000 visits a month, and the new site is at about 2 300. Has Google sandboxed the Domain for a certain period of time, or is there something else that may be the matter?

Have you done a back link analysis of the domain to see if the previous domain owner created an unnatural back link profile that still exists?
Maybe the back links from the previous owner are about terms not related to your content and it is throwing off the site categorization.
Sometimes it just takes time to get back up and running after a big change like that. I see your old site still has 2,200 pages indexed in google - https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS503US504&ion=1&espv=2&es_th=1&ie=UTF-8#q=site%3Aaaholidays.co.za
Did you add the new site to webmaster tools and submit a sitemap?

Will Reducing Number of Low Page Authority Page Increase Domain Authority?
Our commercial real estate site (www.nyc-officespace-leader.com) contains about 800 URLs. Since 2012 the domain authority has dropped from 35 to about 20. Ranking and traffic dropped significantly since then. The site has about 791 URLs. Many are set to noindex. A large percentage of these pages have a Moz page authority of only "1". It is puzzling that some pages that have similar content to "1" page rank pages rank much better, in some cases "15". If we remove or consolidate the poorly ranked pages will the overall page authority and ranking of the site improve? Would taking the following steps help?: 1. Remove or consolidate poorly ranking unnecessary URLs?

2. Update content on poorly ranking URLs that are important?
3. Create internal text links (as opposed to links from menus) to critical pages? A MOZ crawl of our site's URLs is visible at the link below. I am wondering if the structure of the site is just not optimized for ranking and what can be done to improve it. THANKS. https://www.dropbox.com/s/oqchfqveelm1q11/CRAWL www.nyc-officespace-leader.com (1).csv?dl=0 Thanks,

Sitelinks in non-brand based organic search results
Hi all, I have a question for everyone. Sitelinks have been around for a while now & I've always seen them when the search is for a brand's name. However, today, when looking at the rankings for one of the campaigns we manage, we noticed there were sitelinks in the number #1 & #2 positions in Google (Australia) for the search term "Dance Costumes". Whilst both the companies have Dance Costumes in their title, so do all the other results & so I don't see why it warrants the sites to be relevant via their brand name.

Note: The results are organic results, not paid results (where you can add sitelinks). Firstly, has anyone seen this before (screenshot attached)?
And secondly, is there markup/schema that allows you to do this (none that I know of)? danceCostumes-sitelinks.png0 -
Site re-design, full site domain A/B test, will we drop in rankings while leaking traffic
We are re-launching a client site that does very well in Google. The new site is on a www2 domain which we are going to send a controlled amount of traffic to, 10%, 25%, 50%, 75% to 100% over a 5 week period. This will lead to a reduction in traffic to the original domain. As I don't want to launch a competing domain the www2 site will not be indexed until 100% is reached. If Google sees the traffic numbers reducing over this period will we drop? This is the only part I am unsure of as the urls and site structure are the same apart from some new lower level pages which we will introduce in a controlled manner later? Any thoughts or experience of this type of re-launch would be much appreciated. Thanks Pete

SIte Redesign - Disaster for Organic Traffic
A client just redesigned their site and launched it around May 30. The organic traffic has had a MAJOR drop and has not returned yet. All of the old pages have been 301 redirected to the new pages. Any thoughts on what could be causing this to www.brickhousesecurity.com? In Google Webmaster Tools, before the redesign we were receiving about 300,000 impressions and 10-12,000 clicks. Now the impressions are only 100,000 with half as many clicks. Thanks!

2 sites or one sites: 2 locations
Hello, I have a dog training client who is offering services in 2 separate locations. We're looking to be first in the non-local search results and also rank well in google places. Would it be better to go for 2 separate sites or one site and try to rank for 2 different locations with one site? There's both local and standard search results when we type in our keywords. Thanks!

In mobile searches, does Google recognize HTML5 sites as mobile sites?
Does Google recognize HTML5 sites using responsive design as mobile sites? I know that for mobile searches, Google promotes results on mobile sites. I'm trying to determine if my site, created in HTML5 with responsive design falls into that category. Any insights on the topic would be very helpful.

Domain Authority / Page Authority
I manage a site that has home page authority of 69, and overall domain authority of 63. To improve domain authority, would it help to remove some of the pages that have 0 page authority? There are over 1,000 pages to this site, and I always thought that the more pages you have, the better (generally). But, does it actually hurt the site to have pages that Google perceives as having 0 page authority, or does this have no bearing? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
