Duplicate page title at bottom of page - ok, or bad?
-
Can I get you experts opinion?
A few years ago, we customized our pages to repeat the page title at the bottom of the page.
So the page title is in the breadcrumbs at the top, and then it's also at the bottom of the page under all the contents. Here is a sample page: bit.ly/1pYyrUl
I attached a screen shot and highlighted the second occurence of the page title.
Am worried that this might be keyword stuffing, or over optimizing?
Thoughts or advice on this?
Thank you so much!

Hi David,
Wow, every person who replied has helped me greatly. Thank you!
That tool link you sent me was great. I am using that as we speak. I like the Similar Page Checker tool you have. Question - at what % threshold would you think about consolidating or deleting a similar page? I have located 2 sets of pages thus far that are very similar.
We initially created them to go after similar variations of a keyword. Ie, "mens-titanium-rings" and "mens-titanium-wedding-bands". But the products are identical. That set of pages has a 54% similarity. Would you ditch one of them? I'm not sure where the threshold should be.
Thanks again!

Hi Ashley,
Thanks for your help! I really appreciate it. I like your idea of changing the image to an html so we can get the keywords in an h1 tag. I didn't think about that.
I love moz because of you guys!

Hi Matt,
Thanks so much for the great feedback! Question on adding more content to this page ( bit.ly/1pYyrUl ) : If we add a few more sentences of valuable content, like facts, or benefits of wearing a titanium ring, and place this in the caption area it will push down the sub categories. Won't that (possibly) lower conversion rates?
What about adding the content to bottom of page?
Thanks for the recommendation for ScreamingFrog. I'm downloading it now!

Doubtful that one mention of the work or keyword phrase is having that much of an effect. Ecommerce store frequently have a higher keyword density, and I think Google can tell the difference. We have done work for multiple ecom clients, in which the competition would stuff the living daylights out of the meta and on page and still rank very high. Not saying its a great idea, just noting an observation.
As to your situation, I wouldn't bother with changing it. I would instead look at your on-page keyword density to avoid it getting too high.

Hi Ron,
I think that it doesn't really serve any benefit to the user and in my opinion it does look at little spammy - another way of trying to get "titanium rings" mentioned on your page again. I would personally consider removing it. I would also consider adding some more content on your pages where possible - maybe some more crossover with your blog, as you mention "titanium rings" a lot of times in a small amount of text. I know this is the product you sell, but from my experience increasing the content on page with relevant valuable information will help with your optimisation.
On a side note I would recommend you run your site through a tool such as screaming frog - http://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider/ if you haven't already as this will give you a good insight into how your site is optimised.
Hope this helps

2 Title elements on a single page
Hi there. I am looking at a site that currently has 2 <title>elements present on every page through out the site. They have a main Title with appropriate optimization. Then they have another <title> that appears to be empty. It looks like this; <span class="html-tag"><title></span><span class="html-tag"></title> I know having 2 <title>elements is not ideal. But if the second one is empty, can it still have a negative affect? </p> <p>Thanks</p></title>

Mixing up languages on the same page + possible duplicate content
I have a site in English hosted under .com with English info, and then different versions of the site under subdirectories (/de/, /es/, etc.) Due to budget constraints we have only managed to translate the most important info of our product pages for the local domains. We feel however that displaying (on a clearly identified tab) the detailed product info in English may be of use for many users that can actually understand English, and may help us get more conversions to have that info. The problem is that this detailed product info is already used on the equivalent English page as well. This basically means 2 things: We are mixing languages on pages We have around 50% of duplicate content of these pages What do you think that the SEO implications of this are? By the way, proper Meta Titles and Meta Descriptions as well as implementation of href lang tag are in place.

Javascript to fetch page title for every webpage, is it good?
We have a zend framework that is complex to program if you ask me, and since we have 20k+ pages that we need to get proper titles to and meta descriptions, i need to ask if we use Javascript to handle page titles (basically the previously programming team had NOT set page titles at all) and i need to get proper page titles from a h1 tag within the page. current course of action which we can easily implement is fetch page title from that h1 tag being used throughout all pages with the help of javascript, But this does makes it difficult for engines to actually read what's the page title? since its being fetched with javascript code that we have put in, though i had doubts, is anyone one of you have simiilar situation before? if yes i need some help! Update: I tried the JavaScript way and here is what it looks like http://islamicencyclopedia.org/public/index/hadith/id/1/book_id/106 i know the fact that google won't read JavaScript like the way we have done with the website, But i need help on "How we can work around this issue" Knowing we don't have other options.

First Link on Page Still Only Link on Page?
Bruce Clay and others did some research and found that the first link on the page is the most important and what is accredited as the link. Any other links on the page mean nothing. Is this still true? And in that case, on an ecommerce site with category links in the top navigation (which is high on the code), is it not useful to link to categories in the content of the page? Because the category is already linked to on that page. Thank you, Tyler

H1 Page Title Tag Placement
I'm a little confused over the correct area to place a H1 title Tag. When I look at Wordpress templates and published Wordpress sites, it suggests placing the H1 tag within the header area. However, SEO companies and other well postioned sites place the H1 title tag at the start of the main content area. What is the correct and/or best practice for placing H1 page title tags? Thanks Mark

K3 duplicate page content and title tags
I'm running a Joomla site, have just installed k2 as our blogging platform. Our Crawl Report with SEOMOZ shows a good bit of duplicate content and duplicate title tags with our K2 blog. We've installed sh404SEF. Will I need to go into sh404SEF each time we generate a blog entry to point the titles to one URL? If there is something simpler please advise. Thank you, Don

How do I fix the error duplicate page content and duplicate page title?
On my site www.millsheating.co.uk I have the error message as per the question title. The conflict is coming from these two pages which are effectively the same page: www.millsheating.co.uk www.millsheating.co.uk/index I have added a htaccess file to the root folder as I thought (hoped) it would fix the problem but I doesn't appear to have done so. this is the content of the htaccess file: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^millsheating.co.uk RewriteRule (.*) http://www.millsheating.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /index\.html\ HTTP/ RewriteRule ^index\.html$ http://www.millsheating.co.uk/ [R=301,L] AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
