I'm New To Moz What To Focus On First
-
Hello,
Recently signed up to MOZ for the sites we operate in the UK.
I wondered what folks would recommend I focus on first when starting to use MOZ for the first time for sites SEO?
Cheers
Stuart

Welcome. One thing I find really useful is the "Email Updates" button here on the Q&A posts. When I find a question I am interested in learning more about, I can click the "Email Updates" and then I will receive responses to the question via email. It's a great way to follow the topics you are curious about and tap into some of the expert knowledge here.

One thing to consider, is that if you're after LOCAL SEO, then you're going to be in that MOZ area, while if you're after regional or national or global SEO rankings, you'd be in a diff area here....
Both are similar but different. Both require a ton of work....but MOZ captures the methodology for both!

Hi Stewart, welcome to Moz! Donna and Pixelbypixel pointed to you to some great resources for getting started in SEO (if you are indeed new to both Moz and SEO). To get started with Moz Analytics, I'd recommend checking out this Help Guide. It will walk you through your first campaign setup.
You will find answers to the most common questions about Moz Analytics in the Help Hub. You can search both the Help Hub and Q&A Forum from there. If you get stuck, please do not hesitate to reach out to the community here in Q&A.
Great question!

Welcome to Moz,
Some great things I recommend are on this page - http://moz.com/learn/seo
including the fantastic http://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo
Don't forget to check on the blog for some nice things each day http://moz.com/blog
finally get stuck in, the Q&A section has a really nice community not forgetting all the history (via search) of things you can learn.
Hope you find everything you need and have fun too
and finally stay TAGFEE

Hi Urban33,
If you're new to Moz and SEO start with http://moz.com/learn/seo. SEO is about a whole bunch of things that add up, not one small trick or tactic that skyrockets you to the top of search results quickly. Then I'd plug your own website into a MozPro Campaign. It's a great way to learn about the tools as it's likely the site you know best. Third, I'd monitor this forum. You'll not only learn a lot of the subtleties of SEO, you'll learn about the community and how we help one another.
Welcome!

How do I fix 5xx errors on pdf's?
Hi all, I'm having a huge (and very frustrating) issue-- I have 437 pages with 5xx errors and have no idea how to go about fixing them. All of them are links to pdf's, and when I click on the link on the Site Crawl page, it opens just fine. I've been trying to find the answer to how to fix this issue for weeks with no luck at all. I tried linking the pdf's to their parent page, tried renaming the links to be more concise and crawler friendly, and I've searched all types of articles involving pdf's and 5xx errors, all with no luck. Does anyone have any idea why these pages are getting this error and how I can fix them? Huge thanks in advance! Daniela S.

Can someone kindly explain what 'Crawl Issue Found: No rel="canonical" Tags' means? Is this a critical error and how can it be rectified?

What's the best way to keep track of keyword rankings
Here's the deal. I keep track of my keyword rankings with the help of Rank Tracker from seopowersuite.com for the most part. I ran it on a daily basis and my keyword was not in top 100 for a few months. Moz.com panel shows pretty much the same (not in top 50) for the same months. That said, if I check that keyword ranking in my Google Webmaster Tools (avg. position) it says that its position (ranking?) was on average: 49, 7, 7, 8 (for the last four months). So, I'm not sure how it's even possible? How come Rank Tracker and Moz don't see any rankings and Google gives me sorta decent avg. positions at the same time. I assume that avg. postion means that same as avg. ranking, right? I'm not sure what I'm missing here.

SEO moz Report Card
I just ran some on page report cards. As I was playing around with the tool I noticed that I would get different results if I used my primary domain vs a 2nd domain. The main difference was in how the tool was counting keywords on the page. The keyword used was 'vehicle inventory' Primary domain: www.brand-state.com/inventory.htm Title = 1, URL = 0, Meta = 1, H1 = 1, H2-4 = 1 Body =1, Strong = 1, IMG Alt = 1 Total = 7 2nd domain: www.company-name-brand.com/inventory.htm Title = 1, URL = 0, Meta = 1, H1 = 1, H2-4 = 2 Body =5, Strong = 4, IMG Alt = 2 Total = 13 I can understand if the keyword was in the domain, but it's not. So I'm wondering what is going on here - any help or suggestions on what to research would be a great help. Thank you!

Fetch googlebot for sites you don't own?
I've used the "fetch as googlebot" tool in Google webmaster tools to submit links from my site, but I was wondering if there was any type of tool or submission process like this for submitting links from other sites that you do not own? The reason I ask is, I worked for several months to get a website to accept my link as part of their dealer locator tool. The link to my site was published a few months ago, however I don't think google has found it and the reason could be because you have to type in your zip code to get the link to appear. This is the website that I am referencing: http://www.ranchhand.com/dealers.php?zip=78070&radius=20 (my website is www.rangeroffroad.com) Is there any way for Google to index the link? Any ideas?
