Magento - Google Webmaster Crawl Errors
-
Hi guys,
Started my free trial - very impressed - just thought I'd ask a question or two while I can.
I've set up the website for http://www.worldofbooks.com (large bookseller in the UK), using Magento.
I'm getting a huge amount of not found crawl errors (27,808), I think this is due to URL rewrites, all the errors are in this format (non search friendly): http://www.worldofbooks.com/search_inventory.php?search_text=&category=&tag=Ure&gift_code=&dd_sort_by=price_desc&dd_records_per_page=40&dd_page_number=1
As oppose to this format: http://www.worldofbooks.com/arts-books/history-of-art-design-styles/the-art-book-by-phaidon.html (the re-written URL).
This doesn't seem to really be affecting our rankings, we targeted 'cheap books' and 'bargain books' heavily - we're up to 2nd for Cheap Books and 3rd for Bargain Books.
So my question is - are these large amount of Crawl errors cause for concern or is it something that will work itself out? And secondly - if it is cause for concern will it be affecting our rankings negatively in any way and what could we do to resolve this issue?
Any points in the right direction much appreciated.
If you need any more clarification regarding any points I've raised just let me know.

Keep in mind that it sounds like you're bloating your index. If anything about your URL is different (even one character) then spiders see that as a new page entirely. Even if you used canonical tags to reduce your index down to just single pages, you're still going to have bots spider all your pages to realize that you don't need that many indexed.
Did you look at the specific crawl errors in seomoz or are these in Google Webmaster?

How do I get out of google bomb?
Hi all, I have a website named bijouxroom.com; and I was in the 7th page for the search term takı in google; and 2nd page for online takı. Now, I see that in one day my results seem to be on the 13th and 10th page in google respectively. I made too much anchor text for takı and online takı. What shall I do to gain my positions back? Thanks in advance. Regards,

Remove more than 1000 crawl errors from GWT in one day?
In google webmasters tools you have the feature "Crawl Errors". This one displays the top 1000 crawl errors google have on your site. I have around 16k crawl errors at the moment, which all are fixed. But i can only mark 1000 of them as fixed each day/each time google crawls the site. (This as it only displays top 1000 errors. When i have marked those as fixed it won't show other errors for a while.) Does anyone know if it's possible to mark ALL errors as fixed in one operation?

What to do about Google Crawl Error due to Faceted Navigation?
We are getting many crawl errors listed in Google webmaster tools. We use some faceted navigation with several variables. Google sees these as "500" response code. It looks like Google is truncating the url. Can we tell Google not to crawl these search results using part of the url ("sort=" for example)? Is there a better way to solve this?

RSS Feed Errors in Google
We recently (2 months ago) launched RSS feeds for the category pages on our site. Last week we started seeing error pages in Webmaster Tools' Crawl Errors report pop up for feeds of old pages that have been deleted from the site, deleted from the sitemap, and not in Google's index since long before we launched the RSS feeds. Example: www.mysite.com/super-old-page/feed/ I checked and both the URL for the feed and the URL for the actual page are returning 404 statuses. www.mysite.com/super-old-page/ is also showing up in our Crawl Errors. Its been deleted for months but Webmaster Tools is very slow to remove the page from their Crawl Error report. Where is Google finding these feeds that never existed?

404 Errors
Hello Team, I noticed that my site has 1,000s of 404 errors. Not sure how this happened, maybe when I updated our CMS. My question is, should I worry about them. Should I delete them or just leave them alone. Thank you for your feedback!
