Google now automatically adding (NAME).UK.COM to the end of each page title
-
We're on a .uk.com subdomain (scientifica.uk.com). Now, at the end of each page title, Google is automatically adding 'Scientifica - UK.COM'.
So a lot of our results now appear as [Page title] - Scientifica - UK.COM
It looks a bit a mess and I'm worried about our CTR.
Can anyone shed some light on this or know how to stop it?
Thank you

Hey Ryan,
Thanks for your response! Yes, that makes sense.
I will give it a go!
Thanks for your help!

Hello James. The current titles I'm seeing are pretty short, for example, your title on the resources page is simply, "Resources" As a general guide, consider how your title tags stand completely on their own. "Resources" is so vague that Google is adding information that--net effect--is probably helping your CTR. You can make your title tags more specific and longer and they'll either end in a ellipsis (...) or not have anything appended. Here's the Moz guide on best practices for further reading: http://moz.com/learn/seo/title-tag

Same URLS different CMS and server set up. Page Authority now 1
We have moved a clients website over to a new CMS and onto a new server. The Domain and URLs on the main pages of the website are exactly the same so we did not do any 301 re directs. The overall Domain Authority of the site and the Page Authority of the Homepage, while having dropped a bit seem OK. However all the other pages now have a Pagerank of 1 I'm not exactly sure what the IT guys have done but there was some re routing on the server level applied. The move happened around the end of December 2014 And yes traffic has dropped significantly Any ideas?

Adding a Canonical Tag to each page referencing itself?
Hey Mozers! I've noticed that on www.Zappos.com they have a Canonical tag on each page referencing it self. I have heard that this is a popular method but I dont see the point in canon tagging a page to its self. Any thoughts?

Taking Back Google+ Page Managed By Advertiser
The Google+ Page that appears under local listings in Google for a company I work for, was setup by an advertiser, such as Yellow Pages. I'm not sure how they got control of it, but apparently somebody at this agency set it up, and verified the url. The G+ page is now outdated, and needs to be updated. More importantly, I have to manage the page, and not this third party. I sent a request to Google to transfer ownership. My question is, has anybody had any luck in getting control of a Google+ page which was setup by the wrong party, back? As a backup, I've initiated a plan of creating a new Google+ page with the account info from the WMT's account of the url. I figure, that might have more authority than a page erroneously setup by a third party. My hope is it would eventually replace the Google+ page the currently shows in local returns. Any thoughts or comment would be appreciated.

Why Google scrambles/change our product page titles? And descriptions too?
Here is an interesting issue we are noticing lately: Google is always more scrambling and changing the title of our product pages in the SERPs results. Here is an example: Keyword: "bach arioso sheet music". We are down at the 6th spot, and the shown title is different from what's defined inside the TITLE tag of that page. And that appears often for other keywords/product pages. Why's that? How can we control that? It is hard for us to optimize titles and test CTR and other metrics if Google is showing them differently to the users. Similar issue with the description tag: sometimes Google instead of showing to the users the description tag contents, shows part of the text taken from the page even though the searched keywords are included both in the title and the description tag, and so I can't find justification to show text taken from the page instead... it is quite difficult to understand the motivation beyond all this! Any thoughts are very welcome. Thanks! Fab.

Dropped 50 places for Page Title Change
Hey Guys, I've got a keyword set that is really annoying me. You see on the 19th July I changed my page title for the home page to what I thought would be something more competitive and instead of climbing from rank 9/10 I dropped out of the top 50. So I waited 2 weeks to see if it changed and it just stayed out of the top 50. After two weeks I changed it back again and I've been out of the top 50 ever since. I havnt made any real significant changes to the site as I've held off waiting for the keyword ranking to return but I dont think it will. I was trying to improve the keyword phrase "bahamas all inclusive" for the website www.smallhope.com. I'd managed to get on to page 1 rank 9/10 depending. I changed the title; from "Bahamas All Inclusive - Andros Bahamas Hotel - Bahamas Vacation - Small Hope Bay Lodge All-Inclusive" to "Bahamas All Inclusive Vacation - Small Hope Bay Lodge All-Inclusive" This is really bad for us and I'm not sure what to do. I had a whole plan in place starting with the Title and moving on to the H1 tags, but now I'm not so sure. I've put everything on hold. If this was you what would you do to get back to page 1? Thanks, Adam

Dynamic URLs Appearing on Google Page 1\. Convert to Static URLs or not?
Hi, I have a client who uses dynamic URLs thoughout his site. For SEO purposes, I've advised him to convert dynamic URLs to static URLs whenever possible. However, the client has a few dynamic URLs that are appearing on Google Page 1 for strategically valuable keywords. For these URLs, is it still worth it to 301 them to static URLs? In this case, what are the potential benefits and/or pitfalls?

Google swapped our website's long standing ranking home page for a less authoritative product page?
Our website has ranked for two variations of a keyword, one singular & the other plural in Google at #1 & #2 (for over a year). Keep in mind both links in serps were pointed to our home page. This year we targeted both variations of the keyword in PPC to a products landing page(still relevant to the keywords) within our website. After about 6 weeks, Google swapped out the long standing ranked home page links (p.a. 55) rank #1,2 with the ppc directed product page links (p.a. 01) and dropped us to #2 & #8 respectively in search results for the singular and plural version of the keyword. Would you consider this swapping of pages temporary, if the volume of traffic slowed on our product page?
