Curated content on page one of google for medium competition keywords?
-
Has anyone here ranked curated content on page one of Google for medium competition keywords?
-
Moz itself has several excellent examples of curated content ranking on the first page for medium and higher level competition keywords such as:
- On-Page Factors: http://moz.com/learn/seo/on-page-factors
- Search Engine Ranking Factors: http://moz.com/search-ranking-factors
- Local Search Ranking Factors: http://moz.com/local-search-ranking-factors
- and more...
Are you wondering about techniques surrounding these rankings or more so looking for people familiar with them? Cyrus Shepard, goes over how and when the above content was published and maintained in his most recent mozinar: http://moz.com/webinars/seo-basics-the-fundamental-signals-used-to-rank-our-content-higher. All very insightful if it's just information that you're looking for. Cheers!

What Keyword density would you suggest?
I have been experimenting a little bit with desc lengths and keyword density. Sometimes MOZ says keyword stuffing and google ranks higher the page with higher density. Obviously, it can't be artificially packed with keywords but putting more than GWT/SEO suggestions sometimes comes with a good result. What is your Experience? if you decide to extend the description to 5000+ characters would you hide this to Javascript or kept it all on the page? Bottom or Top. Does it really matter? How to promote your blog content
Hi there, we've been blogging for a while now. Some of our content ranks quit well, other posts don't seem to be ranking at all. The weird thing (I think it's weird...) is that we recently published a post and focussed on a phrase that competes with over 400 million indexed pages, and after 3 weeks we're on page 3, and for other posts with only 2.5 million indexed pages we rank past page 5 (ok, this post is already 1,5 year old, does this matter?). To give you some background info, we moved our blog in January in a new subdomain, and redirected the old url's, but didn't actively promote the old posts. Would promoting the old articles through social media help us boost the rankings for these articles (the articles are "best practices", "how-to's", ...). Where / how do you promote your content after you published it on your blog? I find it hard posting in LinkedIn groups related to finance while I have the "online marketing manager" title on my profile. Why would a finance professional read an article shared by a marketing dude? As LinkedIn's API doensn't allow to post into groups anymore, do you actually go through all your relevant groups every time you publish a new blog to share the article?

Duplicate Content - Joint Press Releases
One of my clients posts Joint Press Releases with it's partners on their blog. The client's partner posts the exact same press release on their website. I think this must meet the Duplicate Content flag... does anyone have experience in dealing with this? Sarita

Best strategy for content/articles. Individual pages or blog posts?
Hi all, Whilst adding content to one of my sites quite often I'm left deciding whether I should create an individual webpage for the content, or write it up as another blog post. More often I write it up as a static page so it fits in with the rest of my website more 'directly'. However I'm wondering if I'm missing out here as obviously I'm not taking advantage of the benefits of a blog, RSS, Tag Cloud, etc etc... Just wondering if others encounter the same quandary?

New Content
I am looking to add new content to pages that I currently have on my website. The content on these pages was taken from another provider and my idea is to rewrite the content to make it unique. Because it is duplicate content, these pages don't get much traffic. Should I add the new content to brand new urls or just change the content on these (already indexed urls). The issue has seen these pages contain duplicate content. If the content simply changes, will it recognise these pages as having unique content?
