Hello!
Today we have some issues when Google is indexing our
instead of our seo-title. Our headline appears in the <title>tag while our seo-headline appears in the <meta name="title"> tag. And Google seems to index the <title> tag in most cases. </p> <p><strong>Here is from our source code: </strong><br /><title>Duellen: Apple Iphone 6 vs Samsung Galaxy S6 - XX</title>
Should we stick with both of these and put the same content in both <title>and <meta name="title"> tags or should we go with just one of them?</p> <p>Best regards,<br />Danne</p> <p> </p></title>

Ha, you got it done while I was still typing. Good, thorough answer.

Ok, so I've had a lot of discussion on this topic in the past but not recently. Pardon my bookmarks being a little old but they all still apply the same.
First, there is no meta value for title. See the documentation here: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_meta.asp
The only values are:
- application-name
- author
- description
- generator
- keywords
There is a standard attribute for title (http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_standardattributes.asp) but specifies a bit of text more like a "tooltip" not a title tag.
The actual <title>tag <span data-mce-mark="1">defines the title of the document. Title in a meta element defines the title of the meta element. In other words, no it has virtually no effect.</span></span></p> <p><span data-mce-mark="1"><span data-mce-mark="1">Supporting SEO docs:</span></span></p> <p>http://moz.com/community/q/title-vs-meta-title<br />http://forums.seochat.com/web-design-coding-programming-11/should-i-use-title-meta-title-460889.html<br />http://www.raisemyrank.com/articles/meta-title.htm<br />http://themeaningofweb.blogspot.com.au/2008/10/difference-between-and-nametitle-tags.html</p> <p> </p></title>

Hi Danne
First of all, it's only the <title>tag here that is the required HTML element, when looking at <a href="http://validator.w3.org/" target="_blank">W3C Compliant Markups</a>.</p> <p>The <meta name="title"> tag is just meta data content, and different crawlers will use or not use that information as they see fit. In the case of Google, it very seldom, if at all, ever uses this tag for its indexation purposes.</p> <p>Fast forward again to the <h1> tag, and its use is also <a href="http://www.w3.org/QA/Tips/Use_h1_for_Title" target="_blank">W3C recommended</a>.</p> <p>So you can see the trend here - Google will look at the W3C elements and consider them for indexing more than the <meta name="title"> tag. To put it bluntly, the <meta name="title"> is a waste of code.</p> <p>If you want a certain phrase to be indexed, considered, or to show up in the SERP, I would add it to your <title> tag and remove the <meta name="title"> altogether, to reduce the clutter and any chance of conflicting messages.</p></title>

Google Not Picking Up Posts
I am trying to work out why from March 4th Google is not seeing my posts. Our google impressions have dropped from 8,000 to 40. If you put in the full article name with speach marks it does not find it, and instead shows the home page in google. We have not had any warnings. We did have work done on our site but nothing else i could think of to cause this. Can anyone let me know what may have caused this. All articles are original

GA4 showing 2 versions of my homepage
When my website Custom Made Casino switched from universal analytics to GA, i have noticed that now in the behavior section it is showing 2 versions of my homepage which I feel may be impacting seo. It is showing the main url which we use for everything, https://custommadecasino.com/ , and it is showing https://custommadecasino.com/index.php?route-common/home. This was never the case with universal. Does anyone know if this is a problem and if so, how do i fix it so that our proper homepage is what is indexed?

Unsolved Question about a Screaming Frog crawling issue
Hello, I have a very peculiar question about an issue I'm having when working on a website. It's a WordPress site and I'm using a generic plug in for title and meta updates. When I go to crawl the site through screaming frog, however, there seems to be a hard coded title tag that I can't find anywhere and the plug in updates don't get crawled. If anyone has any suggestions, thatd be great. Thanks!

Should I "no-index" two exact pages on Google results?
Hello everyone, I recently started a new wordpress website and created a static homepage. I noticed that on Google search results, there are two different URLs landing on same content page. I've attached an image to explain what I saw. Should I "no-index" the page url? Google url.JPG In this picture, the first result is the homepage and I try to rank for that page. The last result is landing on same content with different URL. So, should I no-index last result as shown in image?

Hello,
Technical SEO | | Tiffany_Barn
I have a query animation 'fade-in-up' on my website: tiffanybarnard.com which moves the H1 tag slightly and fades it in from zero opacity to 1. Will this affect the SEO value of the H1 tag?

How do we remove organic listing in other countries for our brand?
We have noticed that we're getting over 25,000 impressions from India over the last 3 months for our brand term. We are seeing similar results from other countries too but not as much. Having used FatRank I can see that our brand name is ranking in position 1 and 2 in multiple countries, this wouldn't be a problem if 1. we sold cars there and 2. they weren't producing leads for our sales guys to follow up which is causing problems. How can we exclude other countries? In Search Console we are already just targeting the UK. Thanks 🙂
