URL Structure
-
Hi,
Hope you are all well.
On our website we have a 'blog' and a 'news' section.
The blog is located on "/blog" - but when you click on a post the url structure changes to /name-of-article and the blog subdomain isn't included.
Would it be better to have "blog/name-of-article as this would then make the blog perform better in search results?
Also, if our news page is under /news - but when you click on an article it changes to /news-article/name-of-article
Wouldn't it be better to have /news/name-of-article
Thanks a lot!!

No, this wont make the article rank better, but it does make sense from a usability point of view because you have both a news and blog sections.
Are you running Wordpress? Do you have the Yoast SEO plugin?
Key to being ranked well is how good the article is, backlinks and some debate over how much impact social signals are having.

Hi there
For crawlers to understand the hierarchy of your website and what information falls where, I recommend using:
/blog/name-of-post
/news/name-of-articleThat way your URL structure is helping search engines understand the architecture of your website.
Hope this helps a bit! Good luck!

SEO advice on ecommerce url structure where categories contain "/c/"

https://www.granngarden.se/Sortiment/Husdjur/Hund/Hundfoder-%26-Hundmat/c/hundfoder To either: a.
https://www.granngarden.se/husdjur/hund/hundfoder/c/hundfoder b.
https://www.granngarden.se/husdjur/hund/c/hundfoder (hundfoder means dogfood) The question is whether we should keep the duplicated category name (hundfoder) before the "/c/" or not. Will there be SEO disadvantages by removing the duplicate "hundfoder" before the "/c/"? I prefer the shorter version ofc, but do not want to jeopardize any SEO rankings or send confusing signals to search engines or customers due to the "/c/" breaking up the url breadcrumb. What do you guys say and prefer from the above alternatives? Thanks /Hampus0 -

Does Site Structure Affect Google
Hi - I'm pretty new at this. We’re running an e-commerce affiliate site at http://www.mydomain.com. So we don’t take payments but customer gets passed through to third party sites when they select to buy a product. We have a blog at http://www.mydomain.com/news. I think Google is treating these 2 sites as as separate sites for PR. For this reason we're thinking about moving this to http://news.mydomain.com. Anyone have any experience in this?

Currently we have our structure as www.practo.com/health/dental/clinic/bangalore We like to have it as www.practo.com/health/dental-clinic-bangalore Can someone advice us better which one of the above structure would work out better and why? Should this be a focus of attention while going ahead since this is like a search engine platform for patients looking out for actual doctors. Thanks, Aditya

Importance of SEO Friendly URLs
Hey SEOZ! How important do you all think SEO friendly URLs are to SEO. Here is an example: Non: http://www.domain.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=2964 Friendly: http://www.domain.com/product_name_here.html I have always heard mixed reviews but did an experiment comparing results on the same domain and actually noticed quite a difference with the friendly ones. Thanks!
