Technical SEO
-
Hi Team,
What are the points we are missing on our website from technical SEO front?
-
Hi again Ravi,
This and your previous questions have all been rather vague. It feels that you are after more of an SEO consultation than specific help with a problem.
The people on this forum are amongst the most helpful out there and always willing to offer solutions. But in return, it is expected that posters do the basic research, and read the "free information" provided. I believe you have been pointed to the "beginner" SEO articles by moz several times in your previous posts. Join this with your moz reports and all the free tools supplied by google and you have many changes you could begin to implement to improve your SEO. If you gave them a thorough read through you should be able to identify a multitude of sins that we would be more than happy to help with.
Even if you provided us with a list of changes you have made so far, so that we could tell you where to look next it would allow us to provide you with an answer that could be built up on and demonstrate the efforts and pattern of thought you are currently on.
Your current question asks alot of us...you do not provide us with any issue or information that makes you think something isn't right. All SEO fixes are done for a reason, you need to understand the reason before implementing a fix. Your question expects us to go to your website, access speed etc, review your source code applying our knowledge, then make a list and tell you how to change it. These are things we have spent weeks, months, years building knowledge over and we simply cannot relay it in a single message. Let alone begin explaining how to fix it all.
My advice would be to do some more research using the many resources you have been provided. Then come with a direct question such as "I have learnt speed is important to my website, what can i do to improve my websites speed". This will allow us to give you some more specific resources and direct advice that you can fix, then approach us with another question.
Sorry if this sounded blunt, I just want to convey the importance of helping us help you.

Hi Ravi
Your questions usually revolve around sweeping or broad topics. Could you possibly give more detail or specifics next round? There are a ton of experts here with lots of experience in specific areas and you could greatly help your chances of being helped (and learning!) if you deep dive your questions more.
I would focus on the Moz Learning Center and Academy - both content a ton of great resources that can help you get started and maintain your SEO performance and visibility.
These are broad resources, but your questions lead me to believe you need these.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

That's a huge question Ravi. Is there something you feel you are missing or a reason you think you might have technical issues?
Technical covers a multitude of sins and can be anything from structure to duplication or protocol issues.

Negative SEO penalty, new domain?
One of my clients has just been hit with a Penguin 3.0 penalty. They have been subject to a negative link building attack for the last 5 months and despite my best effort it appears I haven't disavowed enough, someone was building a lot of links to them and all really low quality spam and a lot of forum profiles. They still rank for their brand, the site is in the index but the only rankings I can see are in Google Local. My advice to them for the quickest way back into Google is to get a new domain and relaunch on this new domain. The challenge is, the domain they want to buy used to be used as a domain in the 'erotic video distrubution' industry. It currently has 17 backlinks from 9 domain and the anchor text is mostly brand related but I can see that 70 links have already been deleted. I would consider this to be too high risk but would be interested to see if everyone agrees with me, it would be an awesome domain name if the history wasn't there!!

Help with homepage SEO please
Hi I have been looking after this site www.kids-academy.co.uk for 3 weeks now. I spotted that links were a major problem with the site and started to strip out the black hat inbound links straight away. I have also been doing some onsite optimisation for the main areas I have been asked to focus on. This saw results within a week for the subpages which is great. however, the design of the site meant there were no landing pages for the categories and the menu is a permanent "fixture" called a megamenu. I have advised /landingpages were needed not only for the ease of the end user to find what they need but also for SEO. Now the issues I have are that due to the menu style, it sees every one of those links within the homepage - over 200 links! I am wondering if I should nofollow some of them, or get them to change the style of the menu as surely this is having a direct result on the homepage and landing pages just not being seen at all within Google (as normal - Bing and Yahoo love the site). There is a lot of work to do on this site, but I would have thought to have seen some movement on the homepage at least by now. Any help is much appreciated. (Please note, there are some duplicate pages on there at the moment as I amalgamated some of the pages together last night and need to redirect these but I am having issues with redirect loops so those are not a contributing factor as this is a recent change). Thanks

Domain Forwarding for SEO
Hey guys, I recently created a new website for a client who was ranking #1 for the term "jupiter obgyn" but they have now dropped down to #4. This happened because their old home page was at www. instead of just jupiterobgyn.com. When you type in the www. version, it does take you to the root domain but it's not carrying the old PA! The www. version of the page had a 22 PA and the new root domain hosted page is a 1. How can I fix it so that "link juice" carries over? Is this something i need to do in 1and1 (their web host) or within Wordpress? Thanks!!!

SEO for a redirected domain name
Our client is a law firm with a name that is challenging to spell. We have procured a domain name for them that is catchy, easy to spell, and plays well into their brand, or at least the current campaign. We're using the campaign domain to direct traffic to their website with a 301 redirect. We have placed the campaign domain in a variety of offline mediums including print and outdoor. The client is currently in the number 1 spot for a good number of our highest priority keywords, so I do not want to do anything to jeopardize that. I'm also not sure this campaign will be their "brand" long-term so I don't want to risk making a switch and making it back. So for now, I'm most comfortable leaving the campaign domain as a redirect to their primary domain. Recently, the client approached me complaining (legitimately) that when people google the campaign domain, they are brought to search results for an entirely different domain because Google "corrects" the domain name for them. This is obviously a bad thing, with many users defaulting to entering urls into Google instead of the address bar. If you tell Google that it was wrong about the autocorrection, our site is in the number 1 position. I liken the situation to Overstock.com using O.co as their offline domain, but overstock.com as their online domain. But imagine if you googled o.co and google brought you to a list of results for "on.co" because it assumed you fat-fingered it. Is there anything I can do to prevent the domain name from getting corrected by Google?

Hotel Booking Engine Hosting and SEO
Our company hosts a booking engine that feeds to a lot of hotel properties in our area. We also own and run a site that is competing for a lot of the hotel related keywords. We are wondering if there would be a benefit (and how much) to moving that booking engine to be hosted on that site that is competing for the hotel related keywords. On a subdomain would be easiest. Has anyone ever dealt with something like this before? I imagine it would help from an inbound link perspective since all these hotels will be pulling information from that site and when someone books it would send them to a page on that site, but could it also be seen as an outbound link from that site which might help the property sites? Any help with this would be really appreciated.

SEO and Pictures tool
Hello, I need to share pictures albums. I would like to know if any of you have an opinion on the best tools available to share pictures on the web? When I say 'the best tool' I mean from an SEO perspective. So, based on your experience, is there tools with which I have better chances to get my pictures indexed? Thanks !! Note: CNET has created a great article that present the major players

Articles.asp in CMS Any SEO Detriment?
Our ecommerce sites are on CMS platforms. When we generate articles we get the following: www.example.com/Articles.asp?ID=134 in the url. There is no page name (keyword) in the url as opposed to product and category pages which generate them. Does the absence of keywords in the url significantly impact the page rank of an article? If it does, I'm going to submit a feature request. If not, I'm going to leave it alone. Thanks.
