Oh Japanese Character and 404 issue
-
This one has me stumped, so I really hope someone can help.
I am assisting a company who are having 404 errors on certain japanese pages of their site.
I have checked in web master tools and analytics, can see the 404, but have no idea where it is coming from. I am starting to think it may be a encoding issue of some sort. Just wondered if anyone has come across this before?
Site uses site finity.
What is happening is reader is going to page domain.com/ja/blog/article
then coming to this page /404?aspxerrorpath=/Sitefinity/WebsiteTemplates/App_themes/"website"/fonts/open sans regular
Really odd - as we cannot re-create this 404 I don't know how they are getting to it?
Also in Analytics some of the pages that are written in japanese that are giving 404's look like this
C3%A3%E2%80%9A%C2%BD%C3%A3%C6%92%C2%AA%C3%A3%C6%92%C2%A5%C3%A3%C6%92%C2%BC%C3%A3%E2%80%9A%C2%B7%C3%A3%C6%92%C2%A7%C3%A3%C6%92%C2%B394.8%C3%A3%C2%81%C2%AE%C3%A5%C2%AF%C2%BE%C3%A8%C2%B1%C2%A1/%C3%A9%C2%A1%C2%A7%C3%A5%C2%AE%C2%A2%C3%A3%E2%80%9A%C2%B0%C3%A3%C6%92%C2%AB%C3%A3%C6%92%C2%BC%C3%A3%C6%92%E2%80%94%C3%A6%C2%AF%C5%BD%C3%A3%C2%81%C2%AE94.8
Any help much appreciated

Just thinking about this, it might be worth looking at the page encoding as it could be a lack or UTF-8 declaration.
Do you have the full URL with that code in it?
...this one is definitely making me grey!
I feel your pain there

Thank you Andy!
We are seeing the C3%A3%E2%80%9A%C2%BD%C3%A3%C6%92%C2%AA%C3%A3%C6%92%C2%A5%C3%A3%C6%92%C2%BC%C3%A3%E2%80%9A%C2%B7%C3%A3%C6%92%C2%A7%C3%A3%C6%92%C2%B394.8%C3%A3%C2%81%C2%AE%C3%A5%C2%AF%C2%BE%C3%A8%C2%B1%C2%A1/%C3%A9%C2%A1%C2%A7%C3%A5%C2%AE%C2%A2%C3%A3%E2%80%9A%C2%B0%C3%A3%C6%92%C2%AB%C3%A3%C6%92%C2%BC%C3%A3%C6%92%E2%80%94%C3%A6%C2%AF%C5%BD%C3%A3%C2%81%C2%AE94.8 in analytics,
But as for this random link - this is where users appear to be going to, however I cannot re-create it.
Will try to find out some more information this one is definitely making me grey!

Hi Kelly,
**What is happening is reader is going to page domain.com/ja/blog/article **then coming to this page /404?aspxerrorpath=/Sitefinity/WebsiteTemplates/App_themes/"website"/fonts/open sans regular
So is the page redirecting to the 404 or is the article link just automatically taking you there? Or is it just that you are seeing these 404's in Analytics?
It sounds like it might be a URL configuration issue - I am not familiar with Finity though. Is there any translation service within the site that could cause it to write a page in Japanese incorrectly?

Google Analytics reporting traffic for 404 pages
Hi guys, Unique issue with google analytics reporting for one of our sites. GA is reporting sessions for 404 pages (landing pages, organic traffic) e.g. for this page: http://www.milkandlove.com.au/breastfeeding-dresses/index.php the page is currently a 404 page but GA (see screenshot) is reporting organic traffic (to the landing page). Does anyone know any reasons why this is happening? Cheers. http://www.milkandlove.com.au/breastfeeding-dresses/index.php GK0zDzj.jpg

Referral Traffic Issue
I'm working on a site that has low traffic volumes due to its niche. That's fine but we are daily getting referral traffic from unrelated domains without a link. These visits are always 100% bounce which is impacting the overall click.through rate. The domains are not the same and different ones come through all the time, so it is difficult to keep on top of. Any ideas what could be going on here and an effective way of dealing with this?

Potential Security Issues Installing Google Analytics GTM
Greetings MOZ Community!! My SEO firm plans has requested that Google Analytics GTM be installed on my website to better track goals and events. My developer will be responsible for installing the GTM script on my website and the SEO firm will actually configure GTM to track goals. Is anyone aware of GTM causing server errors/issues when installed? My developer claims that running GTM would create additional vulnerability to hacking. Is anyone aware of potential security risks from running Google Tag Manager? Once Google Tag Manager is installed, will it make the site more difficult for my developer to administer? Will there be increased risk of the code breaking? Overall, is GTM a big improvement over the existing version of Google Analytics? Is it worth the effort to install? My SEO firm is very much in favor of this upgrade. I would like to move forward provided there is no major downside. I look forward to feedback. Thanks, Alan

Any issues with Google impressions dropping in Webmaster Tools?
I'm seeing a drop in impressions across all my websites that are hosted at a certain location. Just wanted to make sure that it is not some reporting issue that others are seeing.

Woes in organic ranking... Post Penguin issue?
Hello all, First post here. Site:http://www.symbolphoto.com I'd done a ton of work to get my SEO where it needs to be, however, after looking at my traffic post April 15-22nd, it's gone completely downhill. I don't rank organically, which i'd like for one single term 'b*ston wedding photographer'. What am i missing? I'm assuming Penguin may be a part of this, but i haven't participated in any link schemes... am i being penalized and if so, is it evident why? Help is much appreciated! replace * with o.

Phantom urls causing 404
I have a very strange problem. When I run SEOmoz diagnostics on my site, it reveals urls that I never created. It seems to combine two slugs into a new url. For example, I have created the pages http://www.naplesrealestatestars.com/abaco-bay-condos-naples/ and http://www.naplesrealestatestars.com/beachwalk-naples-florida/ and now the url http://www.naplesrealestatestars.com/abaco-bay-condos-naples/beachwalk-naples-florida/ exists in addition to the two I created. There are over 100 of these phantom urls and they all show a 404 error when clicked on or crawled by SEOmoz. Any body know how to correct this?
