Bounce Rate Spike Overnight - Did anyone else notice this?
-
Hello Moz Community,
Starting August 12th, 2015, my overall website traffic bounce rate spiked literally over night and I am trying to figure out why?
My traffic increase rate remained the same.
My time on page actually nearly doubled.
but my bounce rate shot up from 9% to 82%.This is the same issue for almost every page in my 500+ page website. My bounce rate in every page was always below 14%. And literally over night on August 12th, the bounce rate skyrocketed.
Did something roll out around that time?
Does anyone else have this same issue that would be kind enough to share some insight? -
Like Jono mentioned, check your referral traffic. I would recommend going into your analytics account, and segmenting by all sessions/organic/referral/direct to really see what is causing the high bounce rate. If it's referral traffic it's most likely referral spam. There are some good tools out there and filters to help get rid of that garbage and true up your numbers a bit more.

Yes this could be giving you issues. when you connected your yoast account did you remove the other code?
Even if the yoast one isn't working it would still be playing with your stats coming in.

Did the bounce rate increase across all referral sources?
-
I did have Google Analytics on the website, and them i connected my analytics account with the Yoast SEO premium account. Which i have now learned that the license key is currently not active since my server has an outdated version of PHP module cURL. We will be updating that in 2 days. Could this be a reason?

I haven't seen or heard of any changes but I do know that if you had two different analytics codes on the site at the same time it can play with the bounce rate and normally give you a very low bounce rate.
Did you change or remove any analytics codes around this date?

Bounce Rate: Would GA consider a user interacting with a single page (i.e expanding text), before exiting a bounce?
Hey guys, I have done a ton of research regarding bounce rates, yet I cannot seem to find the answer I'm after. Senario: BoIf a user follows a link and lands on a product results page with various sets of filters and an "apply" button, looks through the site, adjusts the filter functions (without changing the url structure) and exists without going to another page - would that qualify as a bounce in Google Analytics? For example: If I click 'details' to see expandable text on a results page ( /credit-cards). The dynamic url I'm talking about is below: https://masii.co.th/thai-en/credit-card/compare-buy?category=shopping%2Ccashback%2Cair_miles%2Cassistance%2Cdining%2Cpetrol%2Crewards&income=30000

Creation of Landing Pages. Subdomain or something else?
Hi, I have an issue deciding how my landing pages should be like and I would like to ask for your help. Currently my landing pages are configured and presented like this: http://www.example.com/fra/Landing75.php?t_src=example&t=AFF&t_cre=keyboard-price&t_trm=160o600&B=1496&A=371&TargetURL= I would like to know if making a subdomain landing page is advised, maybe something like this: http://LandingPage.example.com/Landing75.php?t_src=example&t=AFF&t_cre=keyboard-price&t_trm=160o600&B=1496&A=371&TargetURL= Or if you suggest doing something else with my landing pages - I would like to know that as well. p.s. - How I tell the webmasters (my affiliates) to make a clickable button that won't be a direct link to my landing page but will be some form of non-visible redirect? Thanks in advance 🙂

Better click through rate in 2nd position?
I'm digging through my Google Webmaster tools and found something really odd. On one particular keyword phrase Google is reporting a higher CTR on the 2nd position over the first. A lot higher. Per Google the 2nd position is getting a 31% CTR. Has anyone else seen this?

What is a Achievable SEO Growth Rate?
Hi Mozzers, I have a question for you today. What is the achievable SEO growth rate (non branded SEO) for a typical job portal style site if you are also taking into consideration there is a blog with a lot of useful content being produced on a daily basis? How has your SEO growth rate been? Is it normal to think that the non branded traffic can grow by 1000 visitors or more a day each month? if I hit 1000 visitors per day this month, then 2000 visitors per day next month, 3500 visitors per day the month after that and so on? I know it's difficult to give numbers like this. Assuming it's a 1000 visitor growth, that mean it's a 50% or more SEO growth each month. it will be interesting to know how your growth rate has been. Thank you.

Does anyone know the percentage of searchers that use wildcards in their queries?
I am trying to figure out the number of searchers that use wildcards (*) in their searches. I cannot find much information about a percentage or even ballpark figure. If there is not information on that, what is the percentage of users that use the 'advanced search' options? I am guessing the numbers would be semi-similar. Thanks!
