Been stuck on seo duplication issues shopify

hey there
we have been working on some of our webshops and recently started with analytics/moz,but we have basicly hit a brick wall when it comes to www.krawattenwelt.de since we have had 5k high priority issues (duplicate content) and 20k medium priority issues now i have tried a large amount of solutions regarding the duplicate content issues but it didnt work so we basicly reverted it back to for now and i have the feeling i am really running out of options is there anyone who has an idea on how to do this?

So right now i have changed our canonical code to
{% if template contains 'collection' and current_tags or canonical_url contains 'page' %}
{% else %}
{% endif %}
doing a recrawl a the moment hopefully it works

True, but won't get rid of duplicate either.

Your canonicals look to be in order. Pointing to themselves won't produce a duplicate, what this helps with is retaining strength from modified URLs like referrer IDs. For example, if example.com/product has a canonical pointing to itself and I link to example.com/product?refid=1234, the strength from my link is going to be correctly passed to the product page rather than a non-existent refid path.
Moz has a pretty comprehensive post on the topic that might clear somethings up if you're unsure.
While the canonicalisation will clear up things like ?page=1, I think a better approach here is going to be trying to remove the duplication rather than mask it.
Each of the above pages really are exact duplicates which means they're not actually helping the user at all. Perhaps simplifying this structure and offering less filtering options could help to significantly decrease the number of pages you have to manage, clear up a lot of the duplicate content problems and optimise your crawl budget as well.
As an example, rather than having a page for ties within a certain budget range, why not remove this option entirely? As a helpful alternative, show them all ties in a category and allow them to sort by price from low to high instead.

Hi there.
Ok, time to brush up on canonicals Canonical link is a link to another(!) page, if you want that page to "substitute" the original page in terms of ranking and juice flow in the eyes of search engines.
So, if you set canonical link to page itself (and that's how it is on pages you listed above), and those pages look exactly the same (and they do), of course they are going to be duplicates.
What you need to do is to set this-> http://krawattenwelt.de/collections/budget-9-15 as canonical for this-> http://krawattenwelt.de/collections/budget-9-15/modell_normal and use google parameter tool (https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/crawl-url-parameters) to exclude this-> http://krawattenwelt.de/collections/budget-9-15/modell_normal?page=1 from indexing.

Oh Japanese Character and 404 issue
This one has me stumped, so I really hope someone can help. I am assisting a company who are having 404 errors on certain japanese pages of their site. I have checked in web master tools and analytics, can see the 404, but have no idea where it is coming from. I am starting to think it may be a encoding issue of some sort. Just wondered if anyone has come across this before? Site uses site finity. What is happening is reader is going to page domain.com/ja/blog/article then coming to this page /404?aspxerrorpath=/Sitefinity/WebsiteTemplates/App_themes/"website"/fonts/open sans regular Really odd - as we cannot re-create this 404 I don't know how they are getting to it? Potential Security Issues Installing Google Analytics GTM
Greetings MOZ Community!! My SEO firm plans has requested that Google Analytics GTM be installed on my website to better track goals and events. My developer will be responsible for installing the GTM script on my website and the SEO firm will actually configure GTM to track goals. Is anyone aware of GTM causing server errors/issues when installed? My developer claims that running GTM would create additional vulnerability to hacking. Is anyone aware of potential security risks from running Google Tag Manager? Once Google Tag Manager is installed, will it make the site more difficult for my developer to administer? Will there be increased risk of the code breaking? Overall, is GTM a big improvement over the existing version of Google Analytics? Is it worth the effort to install? My SEO firm is very much in favor of this upgrade. I would like to move forward provided there is no major downside. I look forward to feedback. Thanks, Alan

404 errors more than 1.8 lacs, Duplicate Content, Duplicate title, missing meta description increasing as site is based on regular ticket selling (CRM), kindly help
Sites error increasing i.e. 404 errors more than 1.8 lacs, Duplicate Content, Duplicate title, missing meta description increasing day by day as site is based on regular ticket selling (CRM), We have checked with webmasters for 404's, but it is not easy to delete 1.8 lac entries. Moz Crawler suddenly reporting 1000s of duplicates (BE.net)
In the last 3-4 days we've had several thousand 'duplicate content' warnings appear in our crawl report, 99% of them related to our on-site blog. The blog is BlogEngine.Net, but the pages simply don't exist. The majority seem to be Roger trying quasi-random URLs like:

/?page=410 /?page=151 Etc. etc. The blog will present content for these requests, but it is of course the same empty page since there's only unique content for up to /?Page=10 or so. Two questions: 1. Did something change recently? These blogs have been up for months, and this problem has only come up this week. Did Roger change to become more aggressive lately? 2. Suggested remediation? On one of the blogs I've put no-index no-follow for any page that has a /?page querystring, and we'll see what effect that has come next crawl next week. However, I'm not sure this will work as per: http://moz.com/community/q/functionality-of-seomoz-crawl-page-reports Anyone else had dynamic blogs suddenly blossom into thousands of duplicate content warnings? Having Issue with Site Search in Analytics
Hi Mozzers, We launched a website in October 2012 and have added in the settings(Google analytics) of that profile "Do Track Site Search" since we have a search box on the website. The site search report worked for 10 days and it was over(from end of december till beginning of January 2013). Since then I have been trying to understand this issue. I have added all the query search terms possible, but still not showing any signs of life. At this point I am not sure what to do? Some Help would be appreciated! Duplicate content and ways to deal with it.
Problem I queried back a year for the portal and we can see below that the SEO juice is split between the upper and lowercase. You can see the issue in the attached images. http://i.imgur.com/OXnPp.png Solutions: 1) Quick: Change the link on the pages above to be lowercase 2) Use canonical link tag http://www.seomoz.org/blog/canonical-url-tag-the-most-important-advancement-in-seo-practices-since-sitemaps The tag is part of the HTML header on a web page, the same section you'd find the Title attribute and Meta Description tag. In fact, this tag isn't new, but like nofollow, simply uses a new rel parameter. For example: http://www.darden.virginia.edu/MBA" /> ''This would tell Yahoo!, Live & Google that the page in question should be treated as though it were a copy of the URL http://www.darden.virginia.edu/MBA and that all of the link & content metrics the engines apply should technically flow back to that URL.'' 3) See if there is any Google Analytics filters at the site level I can apply. Analytics tagging parameters effect on site SEO
One of the effective tools used in analytics tagging is the use of analytics parameters that starts with '?' or '#'. Example on site tagging: Main link: www.domainname.com./category/sub-category/ www.domainname.com./category/sub-category/?lid=topnav www.domainname.com./category/sub-category/?lid=sidenav All three links link to the same landing page, with an extra parameter. Using email or campaign tagging: www.domainname.com./category/sub-category/ www.domainname.com./category/sub-category/?utm_source=launch&utm_medium=email&utm_term=html&utm_content=getscoop&utm_campaign=hwdyrwm2012 With that we create many tagged links based on the campaign internal strategy. How do these effect indexing, and link juice? How do thy effect SEO in general?

Duplicate content? Split URLs? I don't know what to call this but it's seriously messing up my Google Analytics reports
Hi Friends, This issue is crimping my analytics efforts and I really need some help. I just don't trust the analytics data at this point. I don't know if my problem should be called duplicate content or what, but the SEOmoz crawler shows the following URLS (below) on my nonprofit's website. These are all versions of our main landing pages, and all google analytics data is getting split between them. For instance, I'll get stats for the /camp page and different stats for the /camp/ page. In order to make my report I need to consolidate the 2 sets of stats and re-do all the calculations. My CMS is looking into the issue and has supposedly set up redirects to the pages w/out the trailing slash, but they said that setting up the "ref canonical" is not relevant to our situation. If anyone has insights or suggestions I would be grateful to hear them. I'm at my wit's end (and it was a short journey from my wit's beginning ...) Thanks.
