Can you possibly post the link of your website so we can have a look at your link profile and spam score.
In regards to the links, there are many factors to consider. I'll tell you a few (what I think is a good practise for link building). First of all, don't purchase links (although Google doesn't really know if you've paid money or not). Try to get links from relevant websites to your own business, high authority websites with high Domain Authority, relevant publications and so forth. Avoid spammy websites (you can use Moz Bar to identify those) and keep the good balance between Dofollow and Nofollow links.
Check out the Moz Blog and Rand's whiteboard Friday for more detailed response, you can learn a lot from those guys.

Link Value
My question is how valuable is getting a link from a PA 71 with roughly 20 links on it. I guess I am saying how many links from a PA of 30 would be a comparable indicator. I understand there is an almost exponential value of authority as they go higher, but I am looking for a good explanation from a technical aspect. Hypothetical Scenario Would a person be better off pursing 20 links from PA25 pages, or would you be better only getting 1 from the PA71 all things equal.

Question about links on blogs
I have a number of blogs, but I'll use this one as an example: http://www.totalpackers.com/. If you look in the left column, we have "friends" links and "more Packers" links. In every case, these were links that we traded or links to our own sites. We get traffic from a number of these sites because of the link exchange, but I'm worried having these is hurting our SEO (as well these sites posting our links). It's crossed my mind that I should remove all these links from our site and ask that our links be removed from their sites. Would that be overreacting? Or is this something I should do? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks, Monty
