Help optimizing website for speed
-
Hello,
My website is www.likechimp.com and is a University project. I need to optimise the website for speed as the bounce rate is fairly quick - I feel this could be due to how long it takes web site to load? Any tips in increasing internet speed. I am willing to higher someone if they feel they can help!
Thanks,
L

The bounce rate of course results from an endless number of variables. Have you checked your site speed for your intended audience in the 'Behavior' section of Google Analytics? If it's anywhere near something like 10 seconds, then it could be affecting bounce rate by an appreciable amount. But, if it's less than 10 seconds, then I'm willing to bet that the consequence of speed on bounce rate is marginal.
To truly improve your bounce rate, you may need the assistance of someone in UX/UI or conversion optimization.

Hi xlucax,
You ask a question that does not have a simple answer. There could be many things impacting the slow rendering of your website.
I can see it is a Wordpress website and fortunately, there is much help available. I have curated a bunch of tools and articles on Pinterest that will help you diagnose opportunities for improvement and pull together a plan to speed the site. Here's a link - https://www.pinterest.com/beseenontop/speed-up-your-website/. Then, if you have specific questions, feel free to come back here again and ask.
If you're looking to hire someone to do this for you, Moz has a long list of recommended companies. Start there.
Good luck!

*** Please HELP *** A/B tests and optimisation implications
Hi Mozzers, We've been A-B testing landing pages, and have had some success. The changes we've been making have been quite radical in some instances - for example we tested this page: https://www.turnkeymortgages.co.uk/todays-mortgage-deals/ against this one: https://www.turnkeymortgages.co.uk/mortgage-quote/ (Today's best deals won, but we've decided to keep the quote page as it does work for some channels). The decision was made to try and optimise Today's best deals for 'best mortgage deals today' rather than 'mortgage quote' because it offers so much more than simply a quote. The quote page is optimised for 'mortgage quote', though it doesn't rank particularly well (I'm not overly concerned by this as even though you'd think that when people are looking for a quote that they would fill in the form, they don't - people are strange!) As a result of the change above we changed all links that originally went to the quote page to go to Today's best deals instead. As we go through the process of optimising for best conversion will it be damaging if we don't change the url as well. As I can see lots of iterations and lots of work whenever we make changes to the pages (going through the entire site to change the links). I am worried though that we'll end up with hundreds of landing pages and changing links all over the site - do you think we should keep the URLs the same from now on, unless the content changes as radically as it did in the instance I've highlighted above? Thanks, Amelia

What is the best way to target two keywords with one website?
I have a client that needs to target two different citys for her service. I have her front page ranking first page for one of the cities, but I have tried all sorts of things and can't get her front page to rank first page in the second (and less competitive) city. I know the drill about making a second page and trying to rank that page but is there a better way?

How to optimize Google Places listing?
I have a couple friends who need more traffic from their Google Places listing. They are in very niche businesses. One is a home remodeling contractor and one is a music teacher. Does anyone know some good services to help optimize their listings? I feel I've helped them out as much as I can by getting real reviews to their Google Places page. But I feel that someone who's had the experience in Google Places optimization can pick up on something I'm overlooking.

Duplicate Content: Snippets from Blog on Website
Our company has a website and a blog, each on a separate domain. On our website's home page, we include snippets from some of our blog posts and links to such posts. The snippets include the same photo, title, and first line or so of text. We have been told and am concerned that search engines will categorize this as duplicate content. Any recommendation as to how we can get around this issue aside from not including the blog posts on our site? I imagine we are not the first company to want to do this. www.angelicolaw.com Thanks,

Optimization of keywords in singular and plural
By Google Traductor: Hi, two questions:
On-Page Optimization | | romaro
1. What about the optimization of keywords in singular and plural?Do you recommend use landing pages in the plural and singularwords? as different results on Google searches in the plural andsingular.
2. Do you think that is a good strategy to generate a sitemap tosearch results pages based on searches by users of our site? Weplan to start generating a sitemap with a top 500 of the most popular searches and then scroll through to 1000, 2000, and more0
