Content suggestions

Hi,
In moz pro you get content suggestions.
I was wondering if you can still rank if the topics you cover for a specific keyword on your page are not listed there ?
I guess the key is that all the topics covered are related to each other, correct ? Thank you,
-
No problem - If you found this useful, I'd appreciate it if you could mark my answer as a 'Good Answer'

Thank you for the clarification. I will have a look into all this.

I've just had a quick search for 'Alsace bike tour' and is this a form of holiday cycling break?
If so, to me the keyword 'Alsace bike tour' would come under the Consideration stage as the user isn't quite ready to make a decision and book/purchase. So I would do some additional keyword research that looks for keywords and long tail phrases that users may use before they start searching for this? Hopefully that makes sense. You want to find some **Awareness **and Decision stage keywords.
As an example:
Awareness/Cluster Content: 'Best Cycling Holidays' with a content piece with something like '10 Of The Best Cycling Holidays in Europe'
**Consideration/Pillar: **'Alsace bike tour' with a page on your site dedicated to this package - detailing every little piece of information that any user may find useful. Remember to link out to any relevant cluster content that you create too.
**Decision/Target: **'Book Alsace bike tour' this is where users will come to book any packages that you have on offer for Alsace.
Use Moz's Keyword Explorer, Google's Keyword Planner, SEMrush and browse forums to get an idea of what people are searching for.

Hi Daniel,
Thank you for your quick response. It does help but this technic to me at least works well on " How to question" but what about on the keyword "Alsace bike tour" for example.
What would be the different stages ?
Thank you,
-
For content marketing I'd highly recommend looking at the HubSpot inbound methodology and buyers journey.
You may or may not be aware that users tend to go through something called a 'buyers journey' passing through three key stages that are 'Awareness, Consideration and Decision' with content labelled as Cluster, Pillar and Target.
When it comes to creating content you should try to bare this in mind. For example:
If you were a personal trainer you might do some keyword research and find the following, marking it at different stages of the buyers journey and content type.
Awareness/Cluster Content: 'how to get fit' (the user has an issue that they are trying to find a solution for)
Consideration/Pillar Content: 'personal training sessions' (after researching, they have found a potential solution)
Decision/Target Content: 'book personal training sessions' (after further research, they know what they want/need)When you have a detailed keyword list with ideas that fall into these parts of the journey it should make creating content a little easier.
In answer to your question:
Just because you're not targeting a specific keyword doesn't mean that you won't rank for it (it will just make it less likely and more difficult). Ideally, you want to create 'Pillar Content' as this will be the main category of a subject. You would then create and link to/from the related 'Cluster Content'.
Google is very good at determining certain keywords and other related terms such as synonyms and something called LSI keywords. If you're not targeting other related terms but mention them in your content, chances are you may get a small amount of traffic from it as long as the content is of good enough quality.
Hopefully this helps?

Content update on 24hr schedule
Hello! I have a website with over 1300 landings pages for specific products. These individual pages update on a 24hr cycle through out API. Our API pulls reviews/ratings from other sources and then writes/updates that content onto the page. Is that 'bad"? Can that be viewed as spammy or dangerous in the eyes of google? (My first thought is no, its fine) Is there such a thing as "too much content". For example if we are adding roughly 20 articles to our site a week, is that ok? (I know news websites add much more than that on a daily basis but I just figured I would ask) On that note, would it be better to stagger our posting? For example 20 articles each week for a total of 80 articles, or 80 articles once a month? (I feel like trickle posting is probably preferable but I figured I would ask.) Is there any negatives to the process of an API writing/updating content? Should we have 800+ words of static content on each page? Thank you all mozzers!

How to solve this issue and avoid duplicated content?
My marketing team would like to serve up 3 pages of similar content; www.example.com/one, www.example.com/two and www.example.com/three; however the challenge here is, they'd like to have only one page whith three different titles and images based on the user's entry point (one, two, or three). To avoid duplicated pages, how would suggest this best be handled?

Example, in this article : http://www.parismatch.com/People/Kim-Kardashian-sa-securite-n-a-pas-de-prix-1092112 The same image is available on: http://cdn-parismatch.ladmedia.fr/var/news/storage/images/paris-match/people/kim-kardashian-sa-securite-n-a-pas-de-prix-1092112/15629236-1-fre-FR/Kim-Kardashian-sa-securite-n-a-pas-de-prix.jpg http://resize-parismatch.ladmedia.fr/img/var/news/storage/images/paris-match/people/kim-kardashian-sa-securite-n-a-pas-de-prix-1092112/15629236-1-fre-FR/Kim-Kardashian-sa-securite-n-a-pas-de-prix.jpg http://resize1-parismatch.ladmedia.fr/img/var/news/storage/images/paris-match/people/kim-kardashian-sa-securite-n-a-pas-de-prix-1092112/15629236-1-fre-FR/Kim-Kardashian-sa-securite-n-a-pas-de-prix.jpg http://resize2-parismatch.ladmedia.fr/img/var/news/storage/images/paris-match/people/kim-kardashian-sa-securite-n-a-pas-de-prix-1092112/15629236-1-fre-FR/Kim-Kardashian-sa-securite-n-a-pas-de-prix.jpg http://resize3-parismatch.ladmedia.fr/img/var/news/storage/images/paris-match/people/kim-kardashian-sa-securite-n-a-pas-de-prix-1092112/15629236-1-fre-FR/Kim-Kardashian-sa-securite-n-a-pas-de-prix.jpg Thank you very much for your help. On Page Content. has a H2 Tag but should I also use H3 tags for the sub headings within this body of content
Hi Mozzers, My on page content comes under my H2 tag. I have a few subheadings within my content to help break it up etc and currently this is just underlined (not bold or anything) and I am wondering from an SEO perspective, should I be making these sub headings H3 tags. Otherwise , I just have 500-750 words of content under an H2 tag which is what I am currently doing on my landing pages. thanks pete

Scraping / Duplicate Content Question
Hi All, I understanding the way to protect content such as a feature rich article is to create authorship by linking to your Google+ account. My Question
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Mark_Ch
You have created a webpage that is informative but not worthy to be an article, hence no need create authorship in Google+
If a competitor comes along and steals this content word for word, something similar, creates their own Google+ page, can you be penalised? Is there any way to protect yourself without authorship and Google+? Regards Mark0 -
Is un-searched content worth writing?
Hi, Is every post you write on your site is SERPs worthy? I'll give an example -
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | BeytzNet
We often cover industry related news items. It is written very well with personal opinions, comments and detailed explanations. Our readers find it interesting, "like" and "plus" it. However, these items will never appear in the SERPs simply because they won't be searched. Needless to say that these are not ever green pieces. If by chance it lands a subject that may be searched in the future, usually it won't appear because it means that the item was also covered by major sites like CNN, Forbes, Bloomberg etc. Is it worth out time to keep "investing" in these types of articles? Thanks0 -
