Spam Score Help Needed!
-
Hi guys,
Basically, long story short our site currently has a spam score of 5%, which is heading into dangerous territory. We have been looking into why this might be and the more we've looked into it the more stumped we've become.
We compared our inbound links to our competitors, who's spam score currently stands at just 1%, and found that we actually had a smaller proportion of spammy inbound links compared to theirs - and yet our score is 5x higher. We have looked into disavowal, but this seems like a high-risk venture and something of a last resort so we'd rather see if there's anything else we can do about this before we press the button.
Are there any other factors we need to look in to aside from inbound links and domains? Could it be something to do with our site architecture? For example we have a very high number of internal links (102,011, 94.1% are followed) compared to our competitors. This could qualify us as a 'large' site, and when paired with the fact that we only have 640 inbound links could be a big red flag to Google?
Any help you'd be willing to provide us on this would be much appreciated!

Hi there,
Jo from the Moz help team here.
First off, it's worth noting that 5% is quite a low score. Secondly, I would clarify that the score isn't a calculation based on the Spam Score of sites linking to your site.
Spam Score is percentage of sites with similar features we've found to be penalized or banned by Google. To improve this score I would recommend understanding the 27 factors used to make up this score and working on improving them: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/spam-score
I hope this helps - let me know if there's anything else I can assist with!Jo

Can building quality links on internal pages help us to improve DA?
Dear expert,
Moz Bar | | jhfdbeaob
I hope that you all are fine 🙂
Today, I am very confused about improving DA of my client website. For example: He has a domain www.abc.com
and he wants me to build a backlinks on different internal pages like
www.abc.com/service-1
www.abc.com/service-2
www.abc.com/service-3 If i build high quality links on internal pages (service pages) rather than building links on main domain (home page). Does the Domain Authority will increase
OR
I have to build links on Main page to boost the DA I am hoping a positive reply from your side Thanks1 -
Importance of Spam Score
I am wondering the importance of the Spam Score since it appears to bring backlinks into the equation. In Moz we do not currently have a Spam Score but our competitors do...please advise - thanks!

On Page Grader Help
Hi There I am going through the process of using the on page grader and optimising lots of pages, it seems that the difference between getting an F and A grade is simply the title having those keywords however there are keywords that I want to grade well for without stuffing the Title tag with loads of different keywords. Would you say the on page grader is reliable given this and if not could it be optimised to consider the other factors rather then just displaying a tick to say these factors have been considered and achieved.

Anyone Know How Accurate The Spam Analysis Score Is?
Hello, I have a website whose spam analysis is showing a score is a 6 but when I look at the my links, I only have one link that is showing up as a 5. I look at all the subdomains and root domain and I am just curious if I should be worried or that this is quite common. Thoughts? Thanks,

Spam score 9/17 and redirect Question
I sat on a .com domain, which name become increasing popular (xyzselfie) for 2 years ... 4 months ago I hired a VA to do a task. A miscommunication made this person submit my domain to the spammiest directories the internet has to offer. Also because of the domain name and the .com a lot of asian or weird sites/things posted links to my site. I have worked on my site for the last 4 months trying to lower my spam score from a 9. I have:
Moz Bar | | onlinegusto
-Disavowed all the sites that pointed to my site.
-Made more internal links
-Tried to make my content thicker
-Included my email and social profiles to the site In the process my competitors site with exact domain name but .net and more authority came on auction, I bought it and I pointed it with a permanent redirect to my site (hoping my site would in time lose its spam score). This site will generate and income by appearing in search and adsense ads. After months of work I'm at a loss what to do. Does the spam score generally take long to drop? Should i try and stop the permanent redirect and direct my .com to the .net domain? Are there experts who can lower my score? Should I look for non spammy directories in its niche and submit my site to them to increase link authority and nofollow links ? Any feedback or insight would be highly appreciated. fFtTOFk0 -

Is a higher or lower score better in keyword ranking
I know this is a weird question, I think I have confused myself with different keyword tools. So if you get a score of 10 for your keyword, should you aim to be closer to 1 or 50?

Domain Authority Score Changes
Hi All, I hope you guys are doing great. I need assistance with benchmarking drop that measures domain authority score changes, maybe within 3 months to a year. Is there any reliable tool that we can use for us to see the changes in DA over the past months or years? Thanks, Francis
