Only my homepage ranks for my keywords, should I delete my other pages?
-
I am an independent artist and all of my business inquiries come through my website (www.ChrisCarlsonArt.com). Over the last 6 months I have been trying to get pages other than my homepage to rank for my keywords, but I haven't made any progress. I worry that I am cannibalizing my keywords since my pages all have similar information. Should I just delete my other pages and focus on ranking my homepage? Also, if I delete my other pages will that have a negative impact on my rankings?
-
No! you should add more content pages related to your main keyword to build authority in your niche. This will help you to boost your main article in SERP for a long time. I am also doing the same for my blog TeraBox MOD APK.
-
No, often it’s the homepage which ranks for most of the keywords, this is because, often because the homepage will have the most links leading to it.
But if you build quality, white hat backlinks to all the other pages, you might see them ranking higher as well.

You have rankings for the 3d chalk art page. They are not in the visible range, but they also have their right to exist, and I would focus on optimizing specific topics on subpages further. Have you integrated alt texts, used more long-term terms, or done anything with Google Business? What about backlinks?

@Saqlianscnk Thank you for the response!

@monstrillo Thank you for the advice, I will keep working on this.

It sounds like you might be facing keyword cannibalization issues. Instead of deleting pages, consider optimizing each with unique content. Utilize internal linking to strengthen your homepage's authority while ensuring other pages rank for specific keywords. Deleting pages might negatively affect your rankings due to lost content and backlinks.

@PunchyMcSkeletor Hello!
It’s important not to hastily delete pages as this could negatively impact your site's overall SEO. Instead, focus on differentiating the content on each page to target specific aspects of your art. Here’s a concise approach:
-
Keyword Differentiation: Assign unique, relevant keywords to each page based on the specific content or theme it presents. This prevents keyword cannibalization and strengthens the individual page's SEO.
-
Content Optimization: Enhance each page by deepening the content's quality and relevance. Make sure each page offers unique value that isn’t just a repetition of what's on your homepage.
-
Internal Linking: Use internal links wisely to help distribute page authority throughout your site and improve navigation for users.
-
Monitor and Adjust: Keep track of changes in your rankings and traffic after implementing these changes. Use tools like Google Analytics and Search Console to understand the impact of your modifications.
Deleting pages should be a last resort, as this can remove indexed content and potential entry points for users. Instead, focus on making each page a valuable resource on its own right. This strategy should help improve the ranking of your individual pages without losing the overall strength of your website.
-
-
Deleting other pages solely because they aren't ranking for specific keywords may not be the best approach. Here are some considerations:
-
User Experience: Each page on your website serves a purpose and contributes to the overall user experience. Deleting pages arbitrarily could disrupt the navigation flow and diminish the value you offer to visitors.
-
Content Relevance: Evaluate the content on your non-ranking pages. Are they addressing relevant topics related to your business or industry? If not, consider optimizing the content to align better with your target keywords and audience intent.
-
Backlinks and Authority: Other pages besides the homepage may have accumulated valuable backlinks over time, contributing to your website's authority. Deleting these pages could result in lost link equity and negatively impact your site's SEO performance.
-
Optimization Opportunities: Instead of deleting pages, focus on optimizing them for better search visibility. Conduct keyword research to identify relevant keywords and incorporate them naturally into the content. Improve meta tags, headings, and other on-page elements to enhance the pages' SEO potential.
-
Internal Linking: Ensure that your homepage and other important pages are appropriately linked within your website's structure. Internal linking helps distribute authority and relevance throughout your site, potentially boosting the visibility of non-ranking pages.
-
User Intent: Consider whether your homepage adequately addresses the search intent behind the keywords that it ranks for. If users are searching for specific information or solutions that are better suited to other pages, those pages should be optimized accordingly rather than deleted.
instead of deleting non-ranking pages, assess their relevance, optimize them for relevant keywords, and ensure they contribute meaningfully to your website's overall user experience and SEO strategy.

What Tools Should I Use To Investigate Damage to my website
I would like to know what tools I should use and how to investigate damage to my website in2town.co.uk I hired a person to do some work to my website but they damaged it. That person was on a freelance platform and was removed because of all the complaints made about them. They also put in backdoors on websites including mine and added content. I also had a second problem where my content was being stolen. My site always did well and had lots of keywords in the top five and ten, but now they are not even in the top 200. This happened in January and feb. When I write unique articles, they are not showing in Google and need to find what the problem is and how to fix it. Can anyone please help

What Tools Do I USe To Find Why My Site No Longer Ranks
Hi, I made the mistake of hiring a freelancer to work on my website [in2town.co.uk](link url) but after having a good website things went from bad to worse. The freelancer was kicked off the platform due to lots of compliants from people and creating backdoors to websites and posting on them. It cost me money to have the back door to our site closed. I then found lots of websites were stealing my content through the rss feed. Two of those sites have now been shut down by their hosting company. With all these problems I found in Feb that the hundreds of keywords that I ranked for had vanished. And all the ones that were in the top ten for many years have also vanished. When I create an article which includes https://www.in2town.co.uk/skegness-news/lincolnshire-premier-inn-staff-fear-for-their-jobs/ they cannot be found in Google. Normally before all these problems, my articles were found straight away. If I put in the title name Lincolnshire Premier Inn Staff Fear For Their Jobs and then add In2town in front of it, then instead of the page coming up with the article, it instead shows the home page. Can anyone please advise what tools i should be using to find out the problems and solve them, and can anyone offer advice please on what to do to solve this.

Seeking Advice & Strategies to Boost Rankings and Moz DA/DR
I'm seeking guidance on optimizing the rankings and increasing Moz Domain Authority (DA) and Domain Rating (DR) for my websites, www.fastlanddeals.com and www.fastlandoffer.com, especially in light of the recent Google March 2024 Core Update. What strategies and tactics do you recommend for navigating these changes effectively and enhancing the overall visibility and authority of these domains?

Unsolved Website with no backlinks and a DA of 1 ranks first. Why?
https://www.realestatephotos.melbourne does not have any backlinks and has a DA of 1.
Keyword Explorer | | garrypat
This site ranks first for keywords - real estate photography melbourne and property photography melbourne.
Not sure why.
URL contains keywords and site is ok. But other sites with many links and higher DA rank lower. Why? Garry0 -
Strange Traffic Movements
Hi there, I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on this... I'm working with a client whose website is experiencing some odd organic traffic patterns. See screenshot attached. As you can see, there was a sudden cliff fall about a month ago, and then it recovered (almost) entirely. Then, a month to the day later, the same thing happened again. What is the likelihood that this is a data glitch vs an algorithm thing? Any light you can shed on this would be appreciated. Thanks,

Should we remove a keyword from the base URL?
We have a client that we are rebuilding their website and they are thinking about dropping one word from the current base URL. That particular word is one of the keywords we are trying to rank for. Do you think that because one of our keywords is in the current domain name that it would be a mistake to change it to just the brand name without the extra keyword added on?

Google Search Console - Excluded Pages and Multiple Properties
I have used Moz to identify keywords that are ideal for my website and then I optimized different pages for those keywords, but unfortunately rankings for some of the pages have declined. Since I am working with an ecommerce site, I read that having a lot of Excluded pages on the Google Search Console was to be expected so I initially ignored them. However, some of the pages I was trying to optimize are listed there, especially under the 'Crawled - currently not indexed' and the 'Discovered - currently not indexed' sections. I have read this page (link: https://mza.bundledseo.com/blog/crawled-currently-not-indexed-coverage-status ) and plan on focusing on Steps 5 & 7, but wanted to ask if anyone else has had experience with these issues. Also, does anyone know if having multiple properties (https vs http, www vs no www) can negatively affect a site? For example, could a sitemap from one property overwrite another? Would removing one property from the Console have any negative impact on the site? I plan on asking these questions on a Google forum, but I wanted to add it to this post in case anyone here had any insights. Thank you very much for your time,
