Isn't that limited to 25 domains and thus a bit pointless if you're doing a full audit?

RE: Can anyone recommend small UK based SEO Consultancy companies?
He seems a little spammy tbh... and a little out of our price range. He also openly offers black hat services which seems a little bit brazen to me...

Can anyone recommend small UK based SEO Consultancy companies?
Hi there,
We're possibly looking for a small, completely whitehat SEO firm here in the UK to work with us from early next year. We've probably got a budget of around £200 - £300 a month. We're looking for top up work really, not a complete campaign.
I've checked out http://moz.com/community/recommended but it's not broken down by region or budget. I had an embarrassing phone call with Distilled who it turns out charge £10,000 a month minimum!
Can anyone recommend anyone to speak to?

RE: Deep Link Ratio
Thanks Yiannis,
Very helpful answer, I think we have about 27% or so going to our homepage atm, so will be looking to add a few more there to make it look more natural

Deep Link Ratio
Hi there,
What ratio links should be to a homepage compared to deep links?
I'm aware there probably isn't a fixed ratio, and it may depend on niche, but i've heard Penguin is on the look out for people that link to heavily to content deep in their sites (product pages etc.)
Any thoughts?

On Page Grader Question
Hi there,
I have just used the On Page Grader on this page: -removed-
and checked the grade for the following keywords together: wedding venues bath
The On Page Grader has found 15 instances on the page for this keyword. When i view the page source and ctrl-f and search for ''wedding venues bath'', it only finds 8.
Is there an issue with the On Page Grader atm?

Thanks Peter, that's very useful advice:)
Does anyone else have any thoughts?

RE: MOZ Tool Bar Query
Thanks Peter,
We have a link going through to our wedding planning website, so also relevant.
I was under the impression that a link form a .gov website was a really great link to get - is it so in this scenario?

MOZ Tool Bar Query
Hi there,
I have a quick question about how pages are ranked on the MOZ tool bar.
If you view this page (with the MOZ tool bar showing on your browzer), it has strong metrics:
http://www.bristol.gov.uk/page/leisure-and-culture/bristol-collection-venue-hire-0
However, when you click the 'Weddings' link a go one page further into the site, is has no metrics:
http://www.bristol.gov.uk/page/leisure-and-culture/wedding-venue-hire
Is this because the page hasn't been crawled? Getting a link here is still good?

RE: On page grades - quick question
I should preface my response by saying i'm no expert! (I'm learning) Although i'll do my best to help.
If your client sells mostly locally, I would optimise for long tail, local keywords first... They'll be easier to optimise for and the traffic will be better qualified.
Have you checked search volumes for the search terms in your local area? If your client is based in Chicago say and wants to sell luxury carpets in the area, you should look up the search volumes for things like 'luxury carpets chicago', 'chicago luxury carpets', 'expensive carpets chicago', 'chicago luxury rugs' etc. (you can do the search volume searches here: https://adwords.google.com/o/KeywordTool .).
Once you know the long tail, local keyword combination that has the best search volume, optimise your page for that, and then do the on page grading. If there are multiple towns/cities in the radius that the business operates in, optimise for them as well on the page, or create a landing page separately for each keyword combination.

RE: On Page OPtimisation Query
Aha, ok yeah that makes more sense now. I'm sure we can include text on ''edited''.
Although, ''edited'' is only 2 clicks away from ''edited''.
If we were to link to ''edited'' from ''edited'', would it still be a good idea to link to ''edited'' from our homepage? That would pass on the most 'juice'...
Or would the site structure look a bit funny then?
Thanks for all your help, much appreciated

RE: On Page OPtimisation Query
We struggle to think of high authority sites that would actually link to use. We do ask the wedding suppliers who feature on our site, but their sites tend to be PR 0 - 2 (3 at best). And the site users are people who are getting married, most won't have websites, let alone high authority websites, to link to us. Any thoughts
I'll have to speak to the person about rich snippets again, and do some research myself (i've heard of them but don't fully understand how they work).

RE: On Page OPtimisation Query
Currently, it takes 3 clicks to go from the homepage to ''edited''
The page can definitely include more informational text. The only issue is that we are launching multiple sub-regions, of which ''edited'' is only one. So far we have launched ''edited''. We will be launching many more over
the next few years. So the informational text can't just be about ''edited''... So if we linked to all the sub-pages for all the sub-regions, it would be a whole ton of links, that would grow exponentially as time went by... -
RE: On Page OPtimisation Query
We've had advice to be careful not to overload the homepage with internal links throughout the site hence only having the 4 to our 4 'next level' local homepages...
If we built a comprehensive link structure on the homepage, it would very quickly breach over 200/300 internal links (and counting) as we expand...
Maybe we could link to very important pages ranking wise...
-
RE: On Page OPtimisation Query
Thanks Takeshi,
Would you recommend building high authority links to the specific page in question?
''edited''
Or more to the homepage to increase the domain authority?
I still feel we ought to be doing better than 53rd in the SERPs for ''edited''... If it were you guys, would you allow more time before pivoting?
I also read somewhere to be very careful with rich snippets, is this not something we should worry about in this niche?
(Apologies, I'm a newb!)

RE: On Page OPtimisation Query
Hi Wissam, thanks for the response...
I will definitely take that into account. the site is new as of Januarry 2013.
I didn't fully understand 'You homepage is poor'. Do you mean that it is not good, or that we're not utilising the potential of it to link to important pages on our site?
We do have a sensible internal structure as far as users are concerned, maybe not as far as google is concerned. We do have a blog: ''edited'' and we do send links to the categories from time to time...
Does anyone have any views on the on page optimisation in my first post?

On Page OPtimisation Query
6 weeks ago, we attempted to improve the on page optimisation for the following keyword 'wedding venues ''edited''' on the following page:
''edited''
I just checked when the page was last crawled by google by checking the cache date in the SERPs which is the 27th of May 201?.
We have been tracking the keyword 'wedding venues ''edited''' with the moz keyword ranking tool for the last little while and we've seen no real improvement, in fact we've dropped back a bit in the SERPs to 53rd (Moz says 'Not in top 50', it was 53rd when i last manually checked).
I understand that we have to be building links to our site, but i still hoped we would be doing better than this for this keyword with the work we've done
does anyone have any advice on how we can improve? Have we over optimised?
We would really appreciate any help!
