You can use the google adwords tool, but use only the exact match option .

If you have some extra money you can use http://www.wordstream.com/ tool for microniche keywords.

I a 5 minute check, I found out, that your site is just fine, but, the keyword is highly competitive and you just have 4 anchor text who contain that keyword in. I dont think so that you can rank with 4 anchor text for that keyword.

This site www.trophystore.co.uk/ which is ranking 1 (at least how I see it) have 965 anchor text "trophies"

I agree with Samuel. I also see this kind of results. But the negative is that you cant make branding for your website, Depends what you want to do with her. If is just affiliate take the second option.If is something more serious then take the first and work harder. Example me I am building a site about cigarettes. I manage the project from beginning until end. Web design,seo etc... I asked here about the domain name. maybe the keyword "buy online cigarettes" is much more targeted to my clients wish, and I guess is converting much more like just cigarettes, but in the end I purchase a domain with the name just cigarettes,Even if I have to work harder to rank it for that term. I guess sounds better just "cigarettes", like "buy online cigarettes". Me personally I choose the names what sounds better like the names which are more easy to rank in Google. This is my opinion, now is up to you ...

Look, I will put everything in Line.

1. Anchor text is the word trophies coming from other sites. (the external) but is valuable also the internal. But much more the external.Here is a seomoz post about it http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/anchor-text

The best to way to use it is inside a contextual editorial link. Example you submit a guest post, a press release etc. After my suggestion is to backlink also this pages from the other sites. This will increase the authority of your link , and maybe with 100 this kind of links you outrank him. You have to check what "recipe" of backlinks he have and then build a better one.

2)Here in http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/ is various tablets/buttons. When you put your site in and you scan it ,or any other site is one button which writes anchor text. There you can see how many links have your site, on which pages, how strong are the links etc. Dedicate some time to learn how to use this tool effective and you will love it. I would suggest to :

1. Copy your competitors campaigns.

2. Write linkbaiting articles + quality content. (which leads to natural link building)

3. Use the crazy egg, heatmap, so you can know where the visitors tend to click more, and there to install social sharing button, so you can get lots more social signals+traffic.

4. Set up the structure of the site so the link juice to flow to inner pages.

5. You could put backlinks to the categories + tags so they suck more easy the link juice the inner pages , and the fresh ones.

Hi, Kery have right. I think is better if you don't update the existent links. I think is better if you build slowly slowly new ones, I don't know what can happen if you update them. From moment that you are happy keep them, and start a new link building campaign. But don't outsource in any freelance site. Anyway waiting To see the opinion of the Kery"s assossiate. I agree with you but I would not disavow anything. I will just abandon it and start all over. I am reading on http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/4576936.htm that is not working the tool. If you do an extensive research you will find more sources reporting that its not working. So I wouldn't risk anything.

I tried the service on a test site. The links dont even get indexed. I didn't see any difference on the site. Not up not down. More likely you will loose 5 dollars. But I dont suggest you to try it on your site.

What kind of improvements you did to your site?

If you add also few contextual backlinks on the fresh content from other blogs(guest posts) on your niche will drive much more traffic, and much more natural links. Rand was having a post , how to track niche blogs with many rss subscribers. When you make your post, all this subscribers get notified and they come to your blog. If they like it they link it:) Free SEO:) Plus I dont think so that natural links can get punished:) Check for that post and will help you a lot. Or you can just buy the mozcon:) They have a module , how to get links :). Good luck my friend with your new site.
