How to Handle Press Releases for Multi National Sites
-
Hello Moz Community,
We are currently in the process of launching new ccTLDs. We need to know how to handle this from a press release perspective.
Scenario: If we have a global press release, should we release a version for each one of our TLD's within the wires? Or how should this be handled.
Thank you,
Valerie MacDonald

I think most of the major media markets would have distribution in both, so there's a good possibility that the UK PRs would indeed "bleed."

Thank you Brian. I agree that one release per language should work.
We are launching for UK and AUS. If we have a press release that is UK specific, should we be using PR sites like Market wire and be confident that there wont be bleeding into other markets?
Thank you

Are the ccTLDs in countries of origin not in English? In that case I would absolutely spend the extra money to get each PR translated, and send to news outlets in the target language with the featured ccTLD.
But to save money, if they're monophone, I would bundle as many same-language TLDs into one press release. Also, imagine you're a news editor and you see this:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE *** EXAMPLE.SE LAUNCHES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE *** EXAMPLE.DE LAUNCHES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE *** EXAMPLE.CZ LAUNCHES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE *** EXAMPLE.CM LAUNCHESNothing will get you into the roundfile faster than such a barrage. Less is more. If there are multiple language audiences/recipients, that's different.

Great site wide link or maybe not?
A client has done come work with company who has added there widget / link back to there website, at first thought this is great, but it has been added on the template so is site wide - which poses the question could this cause problems? You will see the widget on the left hand side (The Accessible Planet) here: http://www.jwsltd.co.uk Thanks

Links from other sites in our network
I work for a large publisher with many websites, and it's common for our biggest sites to link to smaller sites within the network. These links are follow, site-wide, anchor text-optimised footer links. I think it's obvious that these links are harmful to the smaller sites that are being linked to, but it's hard to convince others of that, particularly because the toolbar PR benefit is very obvious. Do you think it would be better to: a) Remove the links completely b) Keep the links, but make them nofollow c) Keep the links (as it's not harmful) Thanks

Web 2.0 Sites | Guinea Pig?
What do you guys think about creating quality pages on sites like Squidoo, with backlinks from that page leading to your website... and then ordering backlink building packages from SEO companies to build up those web 2.0 sites? My thoughts are that you would be able to get an idea on how good that SEO company is, while minimizing your risk (since their backlinks are going to a Squidoo page), and also increasing your site's authority at the same time (since those Squidoo links are going to your website). I'm sure this has been discussed before. But what is the general consensus on this strategy?

Subdomain, Subdirectory or New Site?
Hi, we are currently exploring a new business sideline to our normal business (we are an emergency property & auto locksmith service). Our site has been established since 2005 (ish) - lockcity.co.uk The new sideline will also be another roadside emergency service but has nothing to do with keys/locks. In our marketing, we will be explaining that our new service is a trademark of Lock City, which will help customers understand why a Lock City van will be arriving. It doesn't make sense for us to have another page on the lock city web site to advertise this service, so wondered if you can recommend if I make a sub domain or create a new site? I understand that I am starting again with a new site, so the subdomain seems more favourable at the moment - but will this leak link juice from our existing business? Looking forward to some expert advice! Many thanks Regards, Abi

Pursuing Links on Sites You Have a Link From
Is it a bad idea to spend resources to get a second link from a site that already links to you? It seems like the marginal value of each additional link is much smaller than the first link.

First links for a new site?
What would be the first links you get for a new site? Yahoo and BOTW directory links? What are your favorites?

Mutiple domains pointing on the same web site issues
We have in out company lots off different domains pointing to the same web site (On for most major countries actually...) . Unfortunately this was done by having all the DNS names to point to the same IP address to the target web site, and not by using a redirect as should have been done. As most of the pages on the web site are linked internally (All the pages of the site links at least to the front page), this resulted to have all the different domains linking one to each other causing artificial external backlinks to our main .com web site. I just wonder if google is giving us a penallity for this backlinks ? Also this causes the same content to be shared among different domains, resulting probably to self competition for keywords. Should we now remove all other domains resulting to a loss of these "artificial backlinks" ?
