Main Russian Search Engines
-
Hi,
One of my customers asked me to get them included in major russian search engines - I am assuming that Yandex is the biggest one, and Google.ru - any others?
Any points on how to get a site included with them?
thanks,
Ben

Presumably submitting an english content based site is pretty pointless?
-
There are also rambler.ru and mail.ru but yandex.ru is the biggest one.

You can check search engine usage with statcounter:

The ways to get included? Having Russian specific content is a good start. And links from that area. And a sitemap. Use Google and Yandex webmaster tools.

Retailer search engines
Can anyone recommend any companies, tools or products to monitor and suggest best practices for submitting products to retailer search engines (Amazon for example). We are looking for something that will continually monitor a products performance, and pick up on any changes, such as if the retailer changes their search algorithm. Thank you in advance.

Pros and Cons Google Site Search
I'm having a hard time finding the actual pros and cons of implementing Google Site Search on a website. Thoughts? Any data on bounce rate of internal SERP because UX doesn't look like the website? I know you can customize, but most examples I've seen still look pretty different from the stie's native style. Any other cons? Data issues, etc?

How to optimize a site for search engines in India
I am working on a website that is a manufacturing company selling items to companies in the United States, India and some other countries. I already know what keywords I would target in the US but what about India? In the US we optimize our keywords for the Google search engine but in India what search engine is the biggest. I know http://www.google.co.in/ exists but is that the most powerful (most users) for India? Is there a certain language I do research for keywords or should I stick to English keywords? Also if I rank for a national keyword (no location in the phrase) well in the US should it be similar for India?

Searching google without bias
i read a tip once and can't find the reference to that tip. It had to do with searching google without including the history of your searches to bias the result. The user was suppose to put a code at the end of the URL, like &pw or something like that. Anyone hear of this?

Why are search results different for 'Yahoo Search' and Powered by Yahoo search?
So if you misspell something (no dns to connect with... unregistered domain as an example) on a browser that uses a Road Runner connection, it takes you to a search engine 'powered by yahoo search' which searches for whatever you typed in. Anyway, today we noticed that the website of one of our clients isn't coming up in this 'Powered by Yahoo Search' via roadrunner but comes up in Yahoo Search for the same query. In fact, we noticed that our clients website (10 yrs + established site) is missing in yahoo powered by search but on all other engines. Any clues? I thought this should be generally the same across Yahoo / Yahoo Powered / Bing / Bing Powered. Could this be using something pre-bing merger?
