Main Russian Search Engines
-
Hi,
One of my customers asked me to get them included in major russian search engines - I am assuming that Yandex is the biggest one, and Google.ru - any others?
Any points on how to get a site included with them?
thanks,
Ben

Presumably submitting an english content based site is pretty pointless?

There are also rambler.ru and mail.ru but yandex.ru is the biggest one.

You can check search engine usage with statcounter:

The ways to get included? Having Russian specific content is a good start. And links from that area. And a sitemap. Use Google and Yandex webmaster tools.

Community Discussion - Voice Search: A Future to be Shaped
Voice search represents a new challenge for SEOs, certainly, but it may also outline some pretty cool opportunities. In Purna Virji's post about the subject, there's an interesting line of thought raised in the comments: voice search reacting to differences in accent and mispronunciations, and taking those things into account for optimization. Let's just take a minute and think about all the wild possibilities in a hypothetical world where voice search is more prevalent than text queries. "&" in search for site:domain.com
Hi, a few days ago we talked to a seo agency. They told us something about the "site:" search, that we hadn't heard before.

As they told us, a search for "site:domain.com/&" would give you the number of relevant pages that Google indexed for your domain. We tested this search with some domains. Lots of the results showed up to 25% less indexed pages, than the search for site:domain.com/ Has anyone heard of this before, or is it just a sales gimmick?0 -
Searching by Demographic Group
Is there a way I can search for top sites searched by a certain demographic group. For example if I searched for: Women 60-70 the top search results would be 1. Menopause.com 2. Retirement.com etc. I want to make sure I'm interact with my customer base where they are searching and engaging the communities they find most interesting and important. I know I can search for demographic information about these specific groups, but I want to get results of top sites used by a certain age and gender. Similar to the way you can target demographic factors in Facebook advertising. Is there possibly some search operators I can use to return these type of results?
