How to remove the certain backlinks completely ?
-
Hello,
I have deleted certain backlinks manually a few months ago. they dont longer exist. but even today Google Webmaster tools and MOZ backlink tool shows this backlinks. Why ?
what i need to do to remove them completely ?
Thank you
-
I agree with Jane.
I apologize earlier I assumed you had done a disavowal request.
There is not much harm in waiting a month to find out if the site has been crawled and then see if Google reflects the changes in Webmaster tools.
However if you do a disavowal you could possibly do damage to your your site's ranking.
As I believe someone already has said sites that have had links less likely to get crawled as often as sites that are not in need of link removal.
Therefore I could definitely be the problem.
Sincerely,
Thomas

I would wait another few weeks to a month - if the links are still showing up in WMT, use the disavow tool.
If you are penalised (manually or algorithmically), and are sure that those links are the reason, that's another reason to use the disavow tool too.
-
Hi
therefore, in your opinion then I do not need to do that with disavowal tool ?
Thank you
-
Hi Ivan,
Here's information on how to do file a disavowal file and reconsideration request. The reconsideration request and disavowal should really only be used if you have been penalised, but you can make the decision whether or not to use it based on the severity of the problem too.
Cheers,
Jane

Hi,
thank you for the help all
just in case if links do not disappear from GWT... How am I supposed to fill disavowal / reconsideration request ?
-
Hi Ivan,
The links no longer physically exist, so Google should end up picking up on the fact that they are gone soon. It surprises me that it's been several months and they're still showing up, however. That said, if the links are from a source that Google has no reason to regularly crawl, it can take a long time before they re-visit and find that those links are gone.
If the links are causing you ranking problems, consider a disavowal / reconsideration request submission in which you say that the links are gone and that Google simply has not picked up on this yet.
Cheers,
Jane

The problem is that I have removed that links manually... and now several months later they are still showed in GWT...
therefore I do not need to worry about that ? they will go away with time from GWT and other ?
Thank you
-
Just to clarify, if you remove a link manually, the link will be removed from the likes of GWT and other back-link sources eventually. If you were to disavow a link through GWT, this will still show up (as the link is never actually removed), but there is a kind of invisible no-follow added to it which will completely remove your association with the site.
As David said, if the link has been removed manually, then you don't need to worry about doing anything else or notifying any services.

If you've deleted the links then you're fine. All the tools - OSE, WMT, etc. - are just slow at catching up.
-
Hi
thank you for the help. I did not used disavow tool from Google. I have personally deleted this links.... and they are no longer there... so, do i need to use disavow tool or not ?
thank you
-
If the links are gone, then they are gone. GWT is just displaying a small sample of links that have been crawled. Maybe the bot hasn't crawled, or won't crawl, the pages again.
Or perhaps the links haven't been sufficiently removed. When something goes off the rails, all kinds of pages can be generated. /Page and /page would be a good example. This is a little outside of the direct question but it's something to think about.
Just keep in mind that all of this backlink data comes from different sources that update at different times. Check out Ahrefs, as Thomas said. Ahrefs tends to have the freshest crawl data, but there's no guarantee they've crawled your unwanted links either.
-
I agree with Martijn Google does not have to do anything just because you ask it to. The most powerful method would be to be certain it is in the data from your disavow filed and it was filed properly.
The links are still going to exist in this world they will just no longer hurt your site. If you need to double check your work here is more information
can you find the links in Google by typing in "site:example.com/your-unwanted-link/"
no parentheses
http://seogadget.com/cleanup-contact-easily-gather-link-data/
http://seogadget.com/hidden-quantcast-links/
what I would do is use all 3 http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/ , https://www.majesticseo.com/ as well as https://ahrefs.com/
if you see that the link is dead in one of these other tools that you will not have to worry about it says it has been removed properly it just has not been updated in the index.
I hope this helps,
Thomas

Hi Ivan,
If you have 'removed' those links via a disavow file or another way to tell Google that these links shouldn't be counted as links to your site then that's all for now you can do about it. There's no way for now to tell Google Webmaster Tools or Moz to ignore certain links from other sites to yours. Google Webmaster Tools for example is for example not incorporating the data from your disavow file.

International SEO: can I choose only certain pages for subfolder?
For a client we are discussing international SEO options. I have pushed against CCTLD because they do not have the resources to manage multiple sites. Instead we want to go the subfolder route: .com/uk/ My question is whether we can properly create a subfolder version that only includes a handful of pages rather than the whole site - so 5-10 pages vs 4k. Is that possible? I'd love your thoughts. International SEO is not my strong suit. Also - if the subfolder for .com/uk/ content is almost entirely the same as the us-based .com is that a problem? Thanks!

Removing massive number of no index follow page that are not crawled
Hi, We have stackable filters on some of our pages (ie: ?filter1=a&filter2=b&etc.). Those stacked filters pages are "noindex, follow". They were created in order to facilitate the indexation of the item listed in them. After analysing the logs we know that the search engines do not crawl those stacked filter pages. Does blocking those pages (by loading their link in AJAX for example) would help our crawl rate or not? In order words does removing links that are already not crawled help the crawl rate of the rest of our pages? My assumption here is that SE see those links but discard them because those pages are too deep in our architecture and by removing them we would help SE focus on the rest of our page. We don't want to waste our efforts removing those links if there will be no impact. Thanks

All Thin Content removed and duplicate content replaced. But still no success?
Good morning, Over the last three months i have gone about replacing and removing all the duplicate content (1000+ page) from our site top4office.co.uk. Now it been just under 2 months since we made all the changes and we still are not showing any improvements in the SERPS. Can anyone tell me why we aren't making any progress or spot something we are not doing correctly? Another problem is that although we have removed 3000+ pages using the removal tool searching site:top4office.co.uk still shows 2800 pages indexed (before there was 3500). Look forward to your responses!

Best way to permanently remove URLs from the Google index?
We have several subdomains we use for testing applications. Even if we block with robots.txt, these subdomains still appear to get indexed (though they show as blocked by robots.txt. I've claimed these subdomains and requested permanent removal, but it appears that after a certain time period (6 months)? Google will re-index (and mark them as blocked by robots.txt). What is the best way to permanently remove these from the index? We can't use login to block because our clients want to be able to view these applications without needing to login. What is the next best solution?

Getting backlinks without content marketing
Hey i have a client who currently has a large ecommerce store with over 50,000 hits a months. I've made the recommendation that they should consider adding a blog and invest in content activities. However they won't be able to do so for quite some time. In the mean time what are some ways i can get backlinks (whitehat only). I'm thinking guest posting on high DA blogs and sites is the best bet. Also sponsorship, CSR activties, and the occasional press release. Can anyone recommend any other ways, or methods i can use to obtain good quality links, or articles which discuss this topic. Thanks, Mark

Looking to increase the quality of our backlinks with a press release: Business wire or Prweb?
Hello all! We are looking to increase the quality of backlinks to our new website www.unitedfitnessmarketing.com and wondering which service would be more beneficial. Care to share any preferences or advice? We have been live for about 3 1/2 months now. We are in a tough niche to find related backlinking websites. We are in the health club marketing consulting field. I just paid for a business.com listing but was thinking a quality press release would give me more juice. My competitors have used free press release services so I'm thinking I could easily one-up them and gain some ground in the rankings. Leaning more towards business wire b/c it's a berkshire hathaway company but would like more input. Thanks!

Should I Remove My Articles From Article Directories?
I have been submitting articles to directories for about 3 years. With the Panda update, it seems that these directories are now obsolete. So, if there is no link value from these articles: 1) should I remove these articles (at east the better ones) and place them on my site/blog? 2) If not, would there be any benefit at pointing some bookmarks at these old links to maybe get some juice out of them?
