Hi there,
This is an incredibly broad question that you'd really need to hire a freelance consultant or agency to work on for an extended period for best results The issue of how and where to promote a new website is pretty much a cornerstone of online marketing.
As far as link development goes, I would start with the link building category here on the Moz blog. There is link development and promotion content on there dating back almost ten years (clearly the older stuff might be quite outdated now).

Many universities have a "study abroad" program. These programs usually have a faculty or staff member who assists students looking to spend one summer or one semester studying at a university outside of the USA.
If the program has a website it can usually be found in Google with a query like this....
site:.edu study abroad program
Many universities also have internship programs. These can be arranged through a central office or through faculty members in individual department. Internships are normally served within the USA and within a short distance of the school. Some might be open to internships abroad. You can find them with queries like these....
site:.edu internship programs
site:.edu engineering internships

The best answer to this question depends upon what type of website you have, who the target audience is and the quality of the content that you have.
So, if you provide the URL of your website you will get better suggestions for promotion. If you don't want to share the site URL then a detailed description of your site, its content, and your audience will be helpful.

Good idea? bad idea?
Hi guys there's a campaign (which I am very passionate about) to save our village pub from being developed. Now I have bought a domain name www dot SaveTheRoyalOak dot com I've forwarded this domain to sussexchef.com/save-the-royal-oak I'm using forward masking so the url remains save the royal oak, I will contain the few pages to do with the pub so that the navigation bars are hidden so the site will pretty much look be it's own entity to the user. this micro site will get hundreds of users and people linking to it, My question is will this hurt my site at all? I'm guessing that when I ask people to link to it I should get them to "no follow" it to be on the safe side? Thanks for your help All the best Ben

Subdomain, Subdirectory or New Site?
Hi, we are currently exploring a new business sideline to our normal business (we are an emergency property & auto locksmith service). Our site has been established since 2005 (ish) - lockcity.co.uk The new sideline will also be another roadside emergency service but has nothing to do with keys/locks. In our marketing, we will be explaining that our new service is a trademark of Lock City, which will help customers understand why a Lock City van will be arriving. It doesn't make sense for us to have another page on the lock city web site to advertise this service, so wondered if you can recommend if I make a sub domain or create a new site? I understand that I am starting again with a new site, so the subdomain seems more favourable at the moment - but will this leak link juice from our existing business? Looking forward to some expert advice! Many thanks Regards, Abi

How do websites get links here...
Does anyone know how people get into the "Top Links on This Topic" section of the Huffington Post? I can see that the "Around the Web" section is curated by someone, in this case "Jeff Muskus" but there is no indication how the Top Links on This Topic appear on a page. The only thing I noticed is that the original article appearing in HP is almost a year older than any of the referenced links. How can a not so passionate subject get links? Need ideas?
Our client owns a very big pest control site. They are competing with pestmall, orkin, terminex to name a few. Almost all of there competitors are spamming like crazy. For some of their competitors it is working. They get natural links very slowly. Maybe 1 natural link every week. How can a not so passionate subject get links? Here was my ideas. Offer a tool to pest control sites for a link in return. The flaw is most pest control company owners are not tech savy and if they are they have hired it out. I just really need some ideas. Thank you.

What to do with a new good looking site?
With a new site comes new challenges. We have recently finished one of our clients websites in the Retirement (financial) field. www.retirementireland.ie In my opinion the site is looking good, fast loading(very little js, optimized images) and good SEO structuring. As being a new site i feel like the decisions taken now are crucial. If SEO is done properly could save a lot of time. If not would take us a while until we get 1-5 positions for retirement, retirement options, retirement planning, retirement ireland. Any thoughts on existing design / structure / content. Any extra suggestions are welcome.
