What should be the SEO strategy for a very big target?
-
Currently I am doing SEO of an Arabic website. I need to optimize it for GCC region. Its target is very big i.e. 1 million unique visitors per month (organic). The domain is new means there is no domain authority right now. What should be the best strategy in this scenario?

Egol is spot on. Assuming the SERP is highly competitive. You need to do a few things simultaneously. I will mention 3.
Firstly I would not initially target the highly competitive SERP Long term goal, but it could be several months till you are there. You need to take a beach head first - or own one SERP and build from there. Build your organic traffic. Own a less searched but highly relevant keyword query SERP. Your keyword research should assist and identify opportunities. So I would find weak SERP's which is related and then build pages & content to own those SERP's.
Concurrently you need to build backlinks. So I would do an audit on your competitors and see what you can also harvest. Then I would capture the top 100 URL's for the keyword you are chasing and try and see if you can get natural backlinks on those sites.
Thirdly you have to do some good old fashioned marketing. PR & marketing are integral to online success now.
Hopefully given you some ideas. Good luck.

Your greatest resource can be a tribe of like-minded people who will share your content with other like-minded people on social media, personal blogs and other channels. The value of this can not be overestimated.
To start or grow your tribe of like-minded people, set up your website so that your best content or most important content are obviously linked to on every page. This can be done with nice big images and enticing captions like you see done with Taboola, Outbrain and other content marketing sites.
Produce a monthly newsletter for these people to keep them engaged. Tell them how they can help you. Draw them small maps to make it easy for them.
Advertise on websites where lots of like-minded people read frequently. Spend your advertising on like-minded people, even if it costs more, because like-minded people are the most valuable asset you can find.

Thanks for your answer. We have already created good content and adding more with the new keywords.
Do you have that level of determination and resources?
We are full of determination and also we can arrange resources for our target. Please elaborate the resources.

Its target is very big i.e. 1 million unique visitors per month (organic).
That's a lot of traffic. I would be surprised if there is that much traffic for this target.
What should be the best strategy in this scenario?
First, go to the SERPs and look at who owns them. You will likely find extremely authoritative domains in the top ten. Are there any with significant resources who will pursue this as a "trophy query" with irrational (or perhaps rational) determination. Do you have that level of determination and resources?
Then look at their content and decide if you can beat it soundly and by a significant margin. To me, the English language text content is not as impressive as expected, but it is not weak. The quality, relevance, and informativeness of the images on most sites is rather pedestrian.
The domain is new means there is no domain authority right now.
Do not expect a quick win. You will first need to develop a significant mass of high quality content. This might take a knowledgeable and skilled author, working full time and supported by a source of great graphics, a few to several months to produce. Then you will need genuine audience acceptance and that they will appreciate the content enough to share it widely. This will be very slow to launch, even if you pay for promotion. The amount of time depends upon the degree of superiority of your content and/or the resources that you can put into promoting it.

Menus, Ecommerce & SEO
Hi Our Dev team have updated our website with a new menu structure, they have given us 2 options to choose from. 1st option I think is better for SEO - this will be showing top 8 categories and then subcategories once you hover over category 1. Not much change from our current structure, just a slightly different layout. (I have added an image example of what option1 will look like) 2nd option - is preferred by management - shows all 24 categories & no subcategories. My question is, will removing the current subcategories from the main menu make them lose rankings & make them harder to rank in future? I'm guessing everything will move down a level in the structure and lost page authority... Does anyone have any articles/case studies to prove this point? Any help is much appreciated 🙂 Becky DKzgD

How do I not mess up a national seo strategy? All advice appreciated in advance!
Hello Moz Friends So I have always worked on local seo, websites, and digital brand management. But one of my clients wants to go national. They sell building materials and the competition is pretty fierce. So here is my question and I thank you in advance for any advice: How do I not mess up a national seo strategy, based on local seo efforts? So for an example, say I put the NAP in the footer, but my client sells to 49 states, will this hurt a national campaign? And on the opposite, would getting local links from say construction websites in California, if my NAP is from Florida, hurt or help? I understand that most of this is seo 101, but I am so used to local seo, that I don't want to cause national issues by doing something local. Thank you again Moz Friends "Have a Positive Day" Chris

Is Snip.ly bad for SEO?
Hi, I'm using the software snip.ly, which allows me to add call to action into content I publish through social media. It's really powerful but I'm wondering how it can affect my SEO? Snip.ly now appears into my link report and its spam score is only 2, which is good. However I'm afraid that in the long term, it can be bad: links are created manually by the webmarketer Topics of this website are infinite the ancor is the same Your thoughts?..

International SEO
Hi all, The company that I work for is planning to target some french (and some other foreign) keywords. The thing is, in our industry, you can't just hire someone to translate the content/pages. The pages have to be translated by an accredited translator. Here's the thing, it costs a LOT of money just to translate a few thousand words. So, the CEO decided to translate a few of our 'core' pages and SEO them to see if it brings results. My questions are, would it be possible from a technical point of view to simply translate a few pages? Would that cause a problem for the search engine crawlers? Would those pages be 'seen' as duplicates? Thanks in advance guys!

Are Their Any SEO Dangers When Cleaning Up a Site
I'm doing some housekeeping on my website. Removing old blogs that are out of date (2008) or things have moved on. The blogs I'm removing are being 301'd to relevant newer blogs. Can this type of clean up cause any problems that affect the optimisation of a site? Looking forward to hearing your views. Christina

Breadcrumb Trail for SEO?
Due to the fact that we aren't in the #1 position, (dropped from #5 to page 2 - You have to love Devs and IT), our heads have hired a SEO Audit/Consultant company to review everything we are doing. I would like to post some of the things they are telling us to do, in which I don't 100% agree with and would like some other professional feedback. Especially since their site isn't marketed very well. http://www.trupanionpetinsurance.com Disclaimer: (this site was a complete nightmare when I started a year and a half ago. Yes, there are many issues that still need to be addressed.) Breadcrumb Trail They have asked us to implement a Breadcrumb trail on every page, where the final page is the only H1 Tag. Are breadcrumb trials important for SEO? (I know they are helpful for Users, but SEO) Are they important for Search Engines to track back for structure. Any thoughts about them? Similar question asked in February : http://www.seomoz.org/q/how-important-are-breadcrumbs
