Google Adding Incorrect Location to the end of Title Tags in SERPs
-
I have an issue with the way Google is adding to a client’s Title Tag.
Since we relaunched the website a few months ago, Google has been adding an indiscriminate “– London” to the end of title tags.
That would be fine if the company was solely London based but we have stores outside London too, and it’s adding “– London” to the end of those individual store title tags there too.
So, if you do a search for “location widget” our page title is:
“location widget | Brand name”
but then Google pops in:
“location widget | Brand name - London”
Which isn’t great if the location is in Scotland! We are adding structured data to the store pages to try and combat this, the store pages are all well optimised for the location (and ranking well), but I’m wondering if I’ve missed anything obvious?
I thought it might lesson as the new site became more trusted in Google, but the rogue “London” seems to be increasing...
Thanks for your help!

also the same issue with on this site université Maroc

I haven't seen this issue before. i have just indexing issue on my this site

Can we use a blog section to promote our business or home service website? Need some suggestions.
-
Thanks Boyd. Our new schema might have made things better, but testing new title tags is definitely on the cards too.

I haven't seen this issue before.
But if you can't get it to change anytime soon, my recommendation is to add more words to the title tag so that Google generates an elipsis in the SERPs. Then if Google continues to add "London" at the end, no one will see it in the SERPs because it will come after the elipsis.

This was brought to my attention:
New SERP feature truncates title tag in favor of location
https://searchengineland.com/new-serp-feature-truncates-title-tag-in-favor-of-location-324917Still not sure how to override this from happening. I'm tweaking Title Tags to see if that has an effect...
Has this happened to any one else?
-
Yes, good point. I think that's something for me to investigate, but I haven't noticed anything that would have caused me to flag that earlier...
-
It might just be Google being Google, using too many off-page signals (e.g: links, local citations / accepted directory listings). I wonder if there are inbound signals contradicting on-page factors
-
Thanks for your response.
No, London doesn't appear anywhere on the store pages (unless they're in London). Not in the footer at all.
-
Are there references to the London address on the non-London URLs? For example, on the Scotland store page look for references to the London address, e.g: in the footer of the page. You may need to alter some on-page instances to correct this, but the structured data should help

Why isn't our complete meta title showing up in the Google SERPS? (cut off half way)
We carry a product line, cutless bearings (for use on boats). For instance, we have one, called the Able, that has the following meta title (and searched by View Page Source to confirm): BOOT 1-3/8" x 2-3/8" x 5-1/2" Johnson Cutless Bearing | BOOT Cutlass However, if I search for it on on Google by part number or name (boot cutless bearing, boot cutlass bearing), the meta title comes back with whole first part chopped off, only showing this : "x 5-1/2" Johnson Cutless Bearing | BOOT Cutlass - Citimarine ..." Any idea why? Here's the url if it will hopefully help: https://citimarinestore.com/en/metallic-inches/156-boot-johnson-cutless-bearing-870352103.html All the products in the category are doing the same. Thanks!

Google Search Results...
I'm trying to download every google search results for my company site:company.com. The limit I can get is 100. I tried using seoquake but I can only get to 100. The reason for this? I would like to see what are the pages indexed. www pages, and subdomain pages should only make up 7,000 but search results are 23,000. I would like to see what the others are in the 23,000. Any advice how to go about this? I can individually check subdomains site:www.company.com and site:static.company.com, but I don't know all the subdomains. Anyone cracked this? I tried using a scrapper tool but it was only able to retrieve 200.

We are ignored by Google - what should we do?
Hi, We believe that our website - https://en.greatfire.org - is being all but ignored by Google Search. The following two examples illustrate our case. 1. Searching for “China listening in on Skype - Microsoft assumes you approve”. This is the title of a blog post that we wrote which received some 50,000 visits. On Yahoo and Bing search, we rank first for this search. On Google, however, we rank 7th. Each of the six pages ranking higher than us are quoting and linking to our story. 2. Searching for “Online Censorship In China”. This is the title of our front page. Yahoo and Bing both rank us third for this search. On Google, however, we are not even among the first 300 results. Two of the pages among the first 10 results link to us. Our website has an average of around 1000 visits per day. We are quoted in and linked from virtually all Western mainstream media (see https://en.greatfire.org/press). Yet to this day we are receiving almost no traffic from Google Search. Our mission is to bring transparency to online censorship in China. If people could find us in Google, it would greatly help to spread awareness of the extent of Internet restrictions here. If you could indicate to us what the cause of our poor rankings could be, we would be very grateful. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Dropped Out of Google and Bing
I am helping with a site that at one time I had on page 1 for Google/Bing. Site started to slip in rankings, then someone else did a makeover of the store and botched things by renaming pages, having errors in pages (multiple head/body), mismatch page names from sitemap, etc. Site slipped to page 4/5. I righted things, fixed duplication using canonicalization, made some other changes. Now site is gone completely from Google/Bing for desired keyword. No penalties. Site still shows if do search on domain name. Site is www.plussizeplum.com (plus size lingerie, sorry), keyword target is plus size lingerie. Anyone have any clues, tips, etc on why we fell off the face of the earth? Page Authority/Domain Authority are both comparable to most of the page 1/2 sites for same thing. Thanks for any advice.

Google Places not appearing
is it possible to be sandboxed for a google places page? one of our clinics has a places page, and it was doing fine (http://www.google.com/maps/place?cid=5542269234389030356) but now whenever we set our location to trinity,fl and try to search for weight loss, weight loss trinity, etc.. it doesnt come up. it only comes up if we search medi weight loss trinity. also, when we go into our google places dashboard and try to edit the pictures, it doesnt show the same pictures on the actual locations page. for example, in our dashboard we have 5 pictures, but on the actual places page, 3 pictures are showing (none of which are in our dashboard). any ideas?
