Are RSS Feeds Really Dead? Boating Aggregator Website Looking to Add
-
Hello! I know that the use of RSS feeds has been thoroughly debated but we are thinking of the using them for a niche website that will be the Drudge Report of the boating world. Well thats the idea at least. This website will be a culmination a bunch of content from a variety of sources into a one website The idea is that sailors, yactties, fisherman, etc can search/find boats and be presented with content. Also the website will have tons of original content as well but this will take time.
So will having the mixture of new/original and rss content cause any potential issues?

RSS isn't really dead. However, people are using different sources to get their news so you will need to share your feed content on those platforms.
Here is a not so old article I like on RSS feed that shows why it still matters https://recurpost.com/blog/rss-feed-is-not-dead-steps-on-how-to-use-rss-for-social-media-marketing-automation/

Hi Listr,
But who uses a feed reader today? I guess some people do but you have to pay monthly for a decent one and certainly, sailors have better things to spend $10 or $15 per month on and power boaters, probably even more so. The bulk of your traffic, at least for the first loooong while, is still probably going to come from search or social media, why start off on and antiquated foot?

Redirecting Old Websites to New Websites
Hi Everyone, We are about to take down a number of websites in favour of a new singular B2B hub and would be looking to redirect all of these sites to the new home. For SEO purposes, what would be the best way to do this? Due to the difference in setups and scale of the site, it would be difficult to correctly match up each page to page between the sites for individual 301 redirects. Could someone advise on the best plan of action? Thanks.

International SEO and Website Redirection
Hey there Mozzers, If you have a website for example www.example.com and you wanted to target Australia and UK and you owned the .com.au and .co.uk. Would that be ok if everything redirected to the .com ? I know that having the .com.au is a signal for Google but the redirection is causing me troubles. Would that be huge of a difference if everything redirected to the .com version of the site?

They are in this case so that's why would be great to include them. 2- the stars don't seem to be in html, how can we mark the stars to be indexed by google? I want to include this schema
https://developers.google.com/structured-data/rich-snippets/reviews#aggregate_ratings I don't think we would be able to full-fill these items, what do you think? <code>spanvocab="http://schema.org/"typeof="Review"> <span< span="">property="itemReviewed"typeof="Thing"> <span< span="">property="name">Super Book This is not a boook is a service, what should I put here?</span<></span<> <span< span="">property="author"typeof="Person"> <span< span="">property="name">Joe</span<></span<> <span< span="">property="reviewRating"typeof="Rating"> Rating: <span< span="">property="ratingValue">7</span<> out of <span< span="">property="bestRating">10</span<></span<> <span< span="">property="publisher"typeof="Organization"> Whato this property means? Website Ranks and gets de indexed ??
Hi My website is almost 3-4 months old . Whats strange is that as soon as it get Crawled it ranks for few terms for 1-2 days and all of a sudden gets de Indexed for these same terms or Rank drops like drops from page 5 to page 10 . Nothing shows up in Webmater tools under Manual Action . Assuming its a Algorithmic penalty, How to deal with this kind of stuff. Should I stop working on this site all together ? Or assuming its a New website, google does not want it to rank for medium or high volume keywords ? What keywords I am after have 300 -2k searches per month .

Understanding how to fix a 403 issue with my website
Hi guys, I hope you can help solve a mystery for me! My site FranceForFamilies.com has been around for 9 years and has always ranked well - at least until I launched a new Wordpress version earlier this year. The purpose of the relaunch was to improve the look of the site, so I kept the content and meta titles the same but created a new design. However, from the day of the new launch the search engine rankings have plummeted, to the point where most seem to have disappeared all together. I have found that when Moz crawls the site, it only crawls one page. I asked the Moz team about this and they said that the site is returning a 403. They also tested this using a curl and received a 406 response: curl -I www.franceforfamilies.com/ HTTP/1.1 406 Not Acceptable However, when I check our Google Webmaster tools I can't recreate the issue. I don't really know what is going on, and I don't have the technical knowledge to solve this - can you help? Thanks, Daniel

How would the rich snippets be treated in AJAX website?
Hi guys We have started to rewrite our website http://www.edamam.com on AJAX, and the idea is to have all the website on AJAX in the next few months. Although it would probably be difficult to index even with the Google Crawling protocol, and some other issues might appear, the engineers insist that from technology point of view this is the best way to go. We have already rewritten the internal search result pages, e.g. http://www.edamam.com/recipes/pasta and last week we set the Google Crawling protocol for AJAX to some of the individual recipe pages to test it. I'd like to ask for you opinion on whether the rich snippets we have in the search results will be affected by this change? Are there specific actions we need to take to preserve them? What other hot tips you have for dealing with AJAX on any level of the website? Thanks in advance Lily
