Best SEO practice for multiple languages in website
-
HI,
We would like to include multiple languages for our global website. What's the best practice to gain from UI and SEO too. Can we have auto language choosing website as per browsing location? Or dedicated pages for important languages like www.website.com/de for German. If we go for latter, how about when users browsing beside language page as they will be usually in English

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
We are more interested in folders than different TLDs. In this case, how we gonna feed other pages of website to other language visitors?
For french, they will land on example.com/fr/ and if they browse to other pages, should all other pages must have French? If so what's the way to present "French" content to them? Just an auto-translation? Or French written content? Any best example site you can refer?

There are more than one possible answer for this. I believe it depends on your business needs.
You should let Google know about all the versions of the site you have via hreflang, that´s a line of code you must insert within the Let me give you an example:
Those lines are letting Google know that a specific page has an equivalent in spanish, french, portuguese and english.
All the versions should be included, even the one the visitor is actually reading.
That's the basic step, you can choose between having a folder per idiom (example.com/de) or a more specific TLD (example.de) a specific domain is great to point for specific countries and the folder structure is more suitable for pointing to different languages which may cover many countries (spanish may point only to Argentina if you use example.com.ar or to all spanish speaking countries if you choose example.com/es)
I'm sure the community will help you dig deeper on this, let me add some links to get more info on this.

SEO frustration...is my website too busy?
My real estate website, www.RiverValleyGroup.com, is currently not ranked in the top-50 for any of the keywords that I am currently targeting. I'm fairly new to SEO and have no idea how to get on the 1st page of Google for targeted keywords. Please help!

Best E-commerce CMS from a SEO perspective
Hello fellow mozzers, I have a lot of experience with Magento and a little bit of experience with Prestashop and i am quite aware of their strengths and weaknesses regarding SEO. I was wondering which E-commerce CMS is the best for SEO. I am talking about the CMS as you download it. There are hundreds of plugins for the popular systems which improve their SEO power tremendously, but i'm interested in which CMS is the best right out-of-the-box. Let me know what you think and why you think so. Thanks in advance 🙂

Looking for guidance on transferring and incorporating content from a purchased website into an existing website
One of my client’s recently purchased a competitor’s website, and we would like to transfer the content from the competitor’s website (http://www.wilson-hardness.com) to our client’s existing website (http://www.buehler.com); at the same time we want to minimize loss in keyword rankings the competitor’s website has established. The two websites work in similar fields: one measures and offers products in scientific measurement and analysis of various materials. The other website offers products that are in similar field: hardness testing equipment. Looking for suggestions on how to proceed or recommended reading on the topic. I’ve tried to do research, but haven’t found anything, so I’m not sure what to topic-names to search. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Best practice to change the URL of all my site pages
Hi, I need to change all my site pages URL as a result of moving the site into another CMS platform that has its own URL structure: Currently the site is highly ranked for all relevant KWs I am targeting. All pages have backlinks Content and meta data should remain exactly the same. The domain should stay the same The plan is as follow: Set up the new site using a temporary domain name Copy over all content and meta data Set up all redirects (301) Update the domain name and point the live domain to the new one Watch closely for 404 errors and add any missing redirects Questions: Any comments on the plan? Is there a way (the above plan or any other) to make sure ranking will not be hurt What entries should I add to the sitemap.xml: new pages only or new pages and the pages from the old site? Thanks, Guy.
