Product Review Permissions
-
Hello,
In the past, a client has gotten a lot of emails from customers saying that they like specific products.
Now he needs reviews.
Can we use those old emails, with no name or maybe with initials as product reviews?
We don't want to do anything unethical.

I agree with Mike. Letting a customer know you are choosing their review to be posted on your site generally gives a good sentiment to the customer.
You benefit in both ways, creating a good relationship with your customer(more WOM referrals) and giving your site a legitimate review.

I would suggest contacting the customers as a common curtsey. We do customer quotes, but we pull them from success stories, which the customer knows we will be publishing already. While the customer did send you an email with a review or quote, they probably didn't know you would be making their comment public.
I personally would feel better asking the customer, even if you don't plan on using their name or initials, it would still be good. Also, I think if when you contact them you ask if you can use their name, that would be good. I think seeing a name associated with a quote gives it a little more oomph and shows that you aren't just make up quotes.
Just my thoughts.
Mike

How to deal with product mark up automatically generated by Yoast?
Let's assume there's a website for nursery. Now they have listed plants and trees as their product now yoast is generating product structured data because of that search console is reporting errors in markup says "Either "offers", "review", or "aggregateRating" should be specified" Reviews can be fixed because of genuine reviews and ratings but trees doesn't have sku, gtin8, gtin13, gtin14 or mpn" so we can't add this information. Because of this every product listing shows an error in structured data. What's the possible fix to get rid of these errors? **Note: I tried using snip to override Yoast Schema but using another plugin is not the first choice. **

Ecommerce sites we own have similar products, is this OK?
Hello, In one of our niches, we have a big site with all products and a couple more sites that are smaller niches of the same niche. The product descriptions are different with different product names. Is this OK. We've got one big site and 2 smaller subsides in different niches that cross over with the big site. Let me know if Google is OK with this. We will have a separate blog for each with completely different content. There's not really duplicate content issues and although only the big site has a blog right now, the small ones eventually will have their own unique blog. Is this OK in Google's eyes now and in the future? What can we do to ensure we are OK? Thank you.

E-Commerce - Include the product creation DATE?
Hi there! I would to ask you if it's advisable to include the creation date of new products (the product description ) in a e-commerce shop, I mean, if it makes a difference (in SEO terms, of course). Thanks for the info and my best regards! Z.

Should we remove our "index" pages (alphabetical link list to all of the products on the site)?
We run an e-commerce site with a large number of product families, with each family having a number of products within it. We have a set of pages (26 - one for each letter A-Z) that are lists of links to the product family pages. We originally created these pages thinking it would aid in discoverability of these pages to search engines, of course as time has gone on, techniques like this have fallen out of favor with Google as it provides negligible value to the user. Should we consider removing these pages from the site overall? Is it possible that it could be viewed by Panda as resembling a link farm? Thanks in advance!

Soliciting Product Reviews with Free Samples?
I have been looking at my competitors links and I have discovered that a competitor with top positions in the SERPs has been gaining links by offering free product samples to bloggers in exchange for links within the review back to their site. My question is, does Google frown on this? Can it invoke a penalty? To me it seems tantamount to buying links, but yet his results speak for themselves. It is something I intend to start doing myself if I am sure it won't result in a penalty. Thanks.

How do I place the product link on my blog?
I have a shop and also a blog where I explain better the products on the site, such as: how to use, tips, recipes and more. How do I place the product link on my blog? Should I put a link with nofollow? Should not I put link? To put the link anchor text or just put the page URL? Don’t I need to worry about it?
